I'm glad no one has said anything about this anymore to me. In all only three people have asked me to do this for them before. It's definetly not something I would advertise or mention to patrons. I hope to see someone weigh in on this and give us a little guidance as to this matter. It just doesnt feel right and I am very reluctant to do this but do not wish to deny my customer.

Well I think it's maybe a bug or a loophole. I don't think it's an exploit.

An exploit is, by definition, exploiting a bug or loophole.

And I will say this is an exploit and you can count on it being fixed. You will not get a developer coming to declare every little thing an exploit, as that will let more people know about it than it will deter from using it. I doubt there will be bannings for people using it.. But there will be a penalty. Specifically, if your customers get used to you doing stacked buffs, when it is fixed you'll have to explain to them why you can't do it anymore.

Well, when you put it like that...

I'm almost afraid to ask how they'll "fix" this. It's been around for a long time, apparently. Were they just not aware of it before, or it wasn't a high priority?

I've never done it, by the way, but a friend did it to me once with a musician buff. It was kind of nice having the double duration, especially since our best buffs run out after two hours but most doctor buffs last at least three.

You do the 1st buff normally, the watcher /stopwatch-es

then he starts watching again, and you /setperform again, and buff again. In the end he does NOT /stopwatch, and he runs not away (since the "you stop watching cause too far away" is the same as /stopwatch), because that would try to apply the buff now, but since he's already buffed it won't work.

Instead you /stopdance. Now the watcher can leave the area without getting the "you stop watching..." message when he leaves.

When the first buff runs out he types /stopwatch, and the second buff activates.

Since we can't overwrite buffs like doc's can (if you go with a buff that lasts for another 30 mins to the same doc (or someone with better stats), you'll get the buff refreshed to 3 hours again), since we can't extend a buff over 2 hours, no matter what, while docs get 3:40 hours on my server regulary i think its kinda fair that with this we can do our buffs for the same duration, or "refreshing" a buff this way (activate it when the other is gone)

i used to do this regularly to help keep up with Doc buffs. or if im in a rush i get the dance/music buff and have the entertainer stop playing before i leave, and then get Doc buffed and head out to my location and kick in the buffs when i need then.

doc buffs are over 3 hours, and sometimes it takes up to 30 minutes to get from naboo to dantooine, if you have a bad day, and then by the time you get there your mind buffs are at 1h30m. thats not even worth playing for, especially if your waiting on someone else.

so i definately think mind buffs should stay how they were before pub 8....keep am at 2 hours and let someone kick em in when they need it
