If more than 10% of the people in the cantina's actually responded then I'd agree that the money isn't important. But since in my experience most people ignore the dancers that are at the keyboard or find an afk dancer to watch, tipping is for the most part the only way to feel useful.

I'll admit I have fun dancing, or I wouldn't still be doing it this long after release, but with all the rude people, and the majority not even saying thanks, I think I have a dang good reason to want to be paid for what I do. The above is why most of the Master dancers have disappeared, all you have to do is look at the people on the boards posting positive stuff and compare it to those posting negatives, then look at what is actually going on in game, and you will see the truth of it. Most masters gone, and an insane number of AFK entertainers.

I feel useful every time someone entering the cantinaresponds to a greeting from me with even just a smile or a wave. Because I feel like, in that one moment, I added something to the texture of the game above and beyond just every-one-for-themselves-get-what-you-need-and-get-out. I've got more than enough money to take care of my needs, and I am not in competition with anyone else to see how many credits I can amass. So I dunno, I'm quite happy with being an entertainer, as long as I can avoid the sleazier aspects of the scene

I have no desire to be some millionaire, if I want to do that I'll move to another planet, but yesterday I made enough to pay for both my Master Entertainer title and my new Mandoviolin and still have more credits then I started the day with.
