Entertainers are all about entertaining others. It's our job to make others relax and enjoy themselves. In doing so, we ourselves do not relax...we work. Does it really make sense to be able to buff our own minds?

In that sense, does it also make sense to be able to cure our own wounds? We've all seen the marksman who comes into the cantina, looks like a customer, but then whips out their slitherhorn. Obviously they spent the 15 points on novice entertainer to remove any dependance on our profession. Is this healthy?

This is really the best argument for allowing self-buffs. Everything we do for others we can do to ourselves--with the exception of self-buffs.

I'd rather see wound healing and self-buffs be placed in the same category. If it means that we can buff ourselves, then so be it. If it means that we cannot heal our own wounds, then so be it.

To be honest, as much as the removal of self-healing would encourage more interdependence, I really doubt the developers will consider doing this. And as a dancer, I selfishly enjoy never having my Battle Fatigue hit triple digits when I go hunting.

If I understand Ravenmist correctly, the devs are considering the self-buff anyway. So bickering over whether we should or should not is really quite pointless now, ne?

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

i think we were bickering in the other threads but this one has been pretty constructive.

What the heck, I will throw out my two cents' worth.

I am a Master Doctor and Novice Dancer. I am just now figuring out how to buff as a dancer. (It is rather obvious as a doctor--heh.)

I think, truth be told, being able to enhance my own mind stats would be a real no-no as a Master Doctor. Seems REALLY powerful to me. Double my mind pool? Or, as a musician, double my substats? Then go into combat, really souped up? Imagine a combat medic instead of a doctor--able to lob poisons forever and ever and ever. . . . Never having to pay a dime or make an entertainer friend. . . .

I would hardly ever be at my normal mind level. I would almost always be buffed, since it would be virtually effortless to do it. As such, it just strikes me as a dangerous thing to do. At the least, this way us medic/entertainer people still need to rely on others for our blue buffs.

On another note, why split the dancer and musician buffs? Why not let each buffall three stats, instead? Dancers and musicians already get the benefits of XP from playing together, not to mention the comraderie. (Dancing alone? BORING. . . .)

Just curious on that last one, is all. Besides, I would rather be able to buff all three stats for othersthan be able to buff my own mind. But, hey, that is just me.
