I'm working on putting together a snazzy new computer, unfortunately WIndows XP Update has some weird problem so I have to do it again

Once I get both going, I'm gonna run some more tests on this and hopefully get more details on how this can be prevented.

I'm bumping this because someone tried torun off withmy tailoring droid last night. I was just amazed when I saw them. Fortunately I caught my droid before they could do it, and they did it because they don't like me (apparently I'm required by the rules of the game to use my skills on demand for anyone who needs them, did you know that?) So, everyone make sure you use the /tellpet stay command when you pull your droid... and don't be afraid to /report anyone who does this. It's griefing, it's a pain in the ass, and it's not allowed.

************ Morons are also making Merchant Barker droids follow them, and they're leading them off the waterfall in Theed and dumb junk like that. **************

OMG! That's too funny!

Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I saw a guy come through the Mos Eisley cantina the other night and grab 2 ent droids and off he went out the back door! The band had to stop and chase the cheeshead down and get their droids back. It did not make for happy musicians that nite, I'll tell ya! And it tee'd the patrons off who were listening then suddenly had to stop. We lost a lot of customers during that time!

How do you record a conversation?

I think an ent/musician should have a special de-buff command just for this type of griefing. The command would make it to the griefer up to 50 yards away and go through walls and around corners. No holds barred. /debuffdroidthief

When you call your Entertainer Droid, please be sure to tell your droid to "stay." Do NOT forget to do this.

You can program the command on your droid under the droid's radial menu. It might be handy to create a macro called "droidStay" or something, with the command "/tellpet stay" in it.

There is a way for people to take control of your droid so that it runs off with them, instead of hanging out by you like it's supposed to. This is achieved with anemote, which is kind of strange. It's not exactly "stolen" as you can store and call it again, but it IS griefing, as people seem to be getting a lot of enjoyment by harassing other players with this. The same situation applies to animal pets. If you do a /tellpet stay, though, your droid will follow your command and override anyone else's attempt to control your droid. As the droid's master, your command takes precendence over anyone else.

There are reports of infant-mindedplayers in this game taking control of Doctor's droids while the Docs are buffing, making the Doc stop buffing and then they have to Store and call the droid again, and the whole process repeats. As you can imagine, the stupid folks doing this are not making friends with everyone in the buff line.

Morons are also making Merchant Barker droids follow them, and they're leading them off the waterfall in Theed and dumb junk like that.

I encourage you to /report anyone who is obviously doing this. Typically, the idiot will have multiple droids following them and think it's hysterical. /report them. If anyone steals your droid, or someone else's droid, /report them. If you see someone thieve a Doctor's droid while you're waiting in line, /report them. Keep doing a /report until they fix this, because it can get VERY frustrating.

Inform your groupmates, spread the word, and so forth - we Entertainers need to keep this from happening to us. It's an annoyance we really don't need, and it's solved by a simple command.

Thought I'd keep you all informed on how to keep this from happening to you.

I too have seen this multiple times, and it has even happened to my tailor's crafting droid. I immediatly sent in a bug reportpractically demanding they fix this, andI pointed out that it may seem trivial, but I see the potential for griefing notjustfor Docs and Entertainers, but in PvP, where someone could steal somone's combat droid. I failed to report the offender that time, but if it happens again, they will be reported, and I don't care how trivial it may seem.

Unfortuanatly it has come to this, but Docs and Entertainers and even crafters, should make sure their droid is recharged at all times so that when you tell it to stay it will, in case someone comes up just at that moment to try and take your droid. And so it will come back to you when you give it the follow me command.

***Update***

I was in Mos Eisley the other night, for no other reason than to wait around for new folks to spawn, with my HELPER tag up, so that I could actually help them. What can I say, I like to help people.

Anyhow, what do I see?

A yokel running by each new player and grabbing their green Newbie droids.

He had no less than about 10 Newbie R2 droids, a gaping spider baby, a Binary Load Lifter barker droid, and some sort of big cat following him around.

My single biggest problem with this was all the new players who spawned andsaw their droid get nabbed, then just sort of stared as the guy ran away with their opportunity to learn how to play SWG. They most likely didn't know how to store their droids and recall them, heck they didn't know how to get to the datapad or what the datapad was at all.

I spent most of my time sending a /tell to these new people, telling them how to store their droid and recall it, and do /tellpet stay to keep the guy from nabbing it again. I'm sure he thought it was funny, but those new players were so confused/angry/frustrated. It was really a shame. After about the 7th new player who I had to explain this stupid exploit to, I got really mad that I SHOULD have been spending my time with them discussing how to play the game, not get their Helper droids back so they can make a little cash and get a travel voucher.

I proceeded to /bug the way he was doing it, then when he mercilessly kept rounding up anything in sight, I did a /report via the Holocron (so I could actually type something useful in the ticket and explain what was going on). I thenhad tocall my Treadwell droid to get a few crates of stuff out of it. And here comes that guy. Sure enough, he took my droid. So, now it was personal. I made several comments on the open harassment ticket, indicating the names of the droids that were stolen (as best I could), the pets that the guy had nabbed, the number of them, where this was happening, the fact that he stole my droid as well and took several screenshots while targetting him and his lame droid parade.

About an hour or 2 later, a CSR contacted me and said the Development team is currently working out a solution, asked for me to be patient with the problem, but assured me that they ARE very actively getting something together that will stop this.

I told her that the worst thing was that new players were having their Newbie quests stolen from them, with no idea how to proceed, because they don't even know that CTRL+D gets them to their datapad, or how droids work. I recommended that CSR's get to Mos Eisley whenever they can, until this fix is implemented, because that's no way for their new customers to begin their gaming experience with SWG. I know that if I ran into that when I first started, I'd think this game was pretty disappointing, and I would wonder what other griefing I'd have to deal with.

The CSR said that it was indeed very upsetting to hear that he was doing that to new players, and again said the Devs know about this and are getting a solution ready to go in very soon, and thanked me for helping the confused new players. She also added she'd head by Mos Eisley and keep an eye out as best she could.

So, yeah, the Devs are well aware of this. Some guildies told me that they knew of their friends who were doing this and thought it was funny, until they got kicked and banned from the game for a couple of days. Then they realized it really wasn't so funny.

The Devs know about this, the CSR's are banning for it, and we can only wait for the fix to get put in to correct it.

Until the fix goes in, if this happens to anyone, or you see anyone doing it, call your droid and see if they'll take the bait if you want to, but be sure to submit a /bug, then open your Holocron (CTRL+H) and submit a harassment ticket. Be nice to the CSR's, she seemed very frustrated with the situation in general. I was probably the 300th person to tell her about this going on that night, lol.
