Thread: Wondering how many have left Master dancer?

I am still a master dancer, but I usually dance only in camps with groups between missions now. Being broke all the time was just a part of the total picture. To enjoy dance you need two communities. One consists of fellowentertainers and second of the customers that support them. This is true whether you frequent cantinas, private clubs or parties and functions. Without both, it has little to recommend it and earning power is certainly not one of the things that recommend it. At one time, entertainers as a group were the nicest people you could meet in the game. It is not that they are not stil the game's socializers, but the polarized views over some issues--afk macroing, tip begging, costumes, underwear dancing, lap dancingand heated competition over customers--have put many who are dedicated dancerson edge. The reasons for tension may be good ones, butpeople just seem far more inclined to be testy these days.

I have held off on dropping master dancer because I can just barely get the other skills I want without doing it. I would probably just get rid of the master title and the whole technique line (15 skill points)if I thought I needed to, but I do not want to give up on dance completely. Hope springs eternal that the developers might actually do something somedaythat will make dancing more viable or that a greater sense of community int the game develops.

About a week ago I was thinking of surrendering Masterdancer, but today I was in the cantina going for Master entertainer/Master IDaswell as Masterdancer. I found something ingame that rekindled my passion for dancing. And now I will surrender my TK and CH skills instead

I think as some wise poster said, that I burnt myself out dancing constantly to get to Master, and when I got there I was like...What now? And all the negatives with dancing was really starting to get to me, like AFKers, tipspamming and the rude nongrateful patrons. Now I don't really mind that anymore, I took a break and am back att full strenght

Actually, I'm gonna do the opposite. I'm going to keep the technique and knowledge lines and drop allthe healing lines. I figure I may as well get personal satisfaction out of the dance tree - i.e. doing different dances and special flourishes, and screw the healing part. Most of those getting healed don't care to pay for their healsanyway, so why should I careto give them good service? The ingratescan get their heals elsewhere, or heal at my new 'cut rate'as far as I'm concerned. Cut rate service for cut rate pay.

I'm about to drop Master Dancer. By tomorrow I should be a retired Master Dancer. I'm gonna keep the technique and knowledge trees because they allow me to do the different dances, but it's pointless keeping the Master title and the healing trees because no one seems tocare about the speed of the heal anyway, and the Master level dances aren't really any different from those at the next level down.

So bye bye Master Dancer - it just wasn't that much fun after all. Perhaps ifthe dancer classgets a major overhaul I'll be back, but for now it's pointless to stay when there are better and more respectedways to make a living.

It's funny that two days after I surrendered all the way down to novice entertainer, that they announce that masters will be able to give 2 hour mind buffs.

I can always come back.

Today I walked into a cantina in Coronet and there was no one entertaining. I found someone AFKing in the back and watched them. Didn't tip. I miss my fast healing. But when I get tired of what I am doing now, I can pick up dancing again.

I'm about to surrender the whole lot, including novice entertainer, too little love too late I'm afraid. Most of my master dancer friends, and some of the musicians are about to do the same I'm afraid.

I won't even bother to list the reasons why - you all know them or have already listed them. But I will say I am very impressed with Ravenmist & NewJedi as correspondents - they are doing a good job for us, not one I envy, but I for one appreciate them .... I might take it up again if it every gets an Endgame added to it one day...

*hugs* to all of you who helped me...

ok i think dancers and musicians have a serious problem once they master. i made a thread about it.

we have no goals, no reward, no special ability to do once we master, yes that's right, totally worthless. therefore do not surprises me to see the people quit or surrender their master skills, or all their entertainer skills.

the answer to this would be, giving master entertainers, i mean dancer and musicians. the ability to heal mind damage. this would really give us a place in the starwar world. the way we stand now, all we get once mastered, are just a new emotes, and a couple of flashy lights.

We DO get the ability to heal mind wounds. I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here.

"the way we stand now, all we get once mastered, are just a new emotes, and a couple of flashy lights."

Actually, masters get no more flashy lights, only a couple more dances to do (which get us nowhere), and a feeble set of combatdefence bonuses.

Wounds and damage have different meanings in this game. Wounds are what turn the mind bar black. Damage turns the bar white and you regen from damage slowly, anywhere. Damage is what medics are healing when they go into cantinas to heal dancers. There is currently no way to heal mind *damage*, barring a 4th tier squad leader skill that causes them to take wounds.

I love dancing and still do, I'm not so much leaving it cause I am bored, I am leaving it cause SOE is so lame in only having single character servers, I do not only want to be 1 profession or even 2 throughout my entire time here, I have been a master for a while and am simply wondering what the other professions can do, and since my points are limited I have to drop dancer, currently exploring tka and ch on my dance alt, I already have 2 accounts, and defintely not gonna go out and buy another disk just to use a new character, they should allow us at least 1 more character per account but that's an argument for another time. bottom line is, I don't want to "quit" dancing, but i haven't the points to keep it either.

Wow! This is a great thread.

Like many of you I started as an Entertainer and made the long climb to Master Dancer. Now I have taken up TK and I use my dancing skills less than 5% of the time. It is hard seeing other people I hunt with who have a complimentary skill such as CH or some sort of Healer, and me with a less useful profession.

Regardless I am going to stick with it. I tend to be somewhat of a role-player, beinga dancer is in my blood, it's who I am. I have trained hundreds of dancers on my server, everyone knows Ekade as a Dancer.

I do hope they do something to make the Dancer profession a little more valuable. So many skill points for such a small facet of the game.
