Well, what if the buffs weren't assigned to dances? Perhaps the buffs would be placed in the knowledge tree but not assigned to the dance. Example:

Novice Dancer: Popular, Popluck, Defense Buff

This way you could buff a Defense buff while dancing Popular, or Exotic3, or Tumble, ect. You could layer your buff on your dance.

I don’t know … I think it would backfire big time. In no time at all the BoTs would be back in droves. The way it was we usually had anywhere from 3 to 6 or 7 BoTs on at any given time in MO, true only one of them held the title of TheBoT and lived there … the rest cycled in and out.

If they assign buffs to dances or dancing levels this is what would happen, on Shadowfire at least for sure. First zombie logs on, sees he/she is alone and chooses a dance then goes AFK, second zombie logs on sees the first one and chooses a different dance then goes AFK, third zombie logs on sees what the other 2 are doing chooses different dance and goes AFK. So basically instead of all the BoTs doing same dance as before they would all do different and it would create an AFK-BoT Buffet.

This is one of the reasons why I'm ok with the BF phase out and props coming in a patch before we get our new buffs. We all have some nervousness about how this will happen along with our excitement. Adding these in after our props and skill tree changes will give us a chance to handle one thing at a time and give us a chance to offer better feedback.

Besides that, the props and BF changes are ready to roll... and some of the new buff details are still being worked out even though they are a sure thing on the schedule.

My concern with the delay is with no BF I fear people will get into the habit of bypassing the cantinas. It will then take a lot of education/pr/announcements to get them back into the cantinas. So far I haven't seen a good job of that with the inspiration buffs. Combine the removal of BF with our low mission terminal payouts and it's going to be tough times for pure entertainers on Shadowfire.

I've been paying more attention to whether people have the inspiration buffs when I see them out and about and most of the time they do not. The other night I spent 4 hours in the Bestine Cantina and during that time only 4 people stopped to heal or get the inspiration buff. The rest ran in, got their new mission and ran out. I spent the night talking to myself and Qaakke. I'm starting to get a very bad feeling about this....

Yes, it is very difficult to be optimistic when your cantina is near empty. I felt the same way when I first started dancing at the Lucky Despot, and found it to be barren. There are however always ways to bring people in. I had my handful of patrons who I had met through out the game and had stuck with me come to the Lucky Despot. They brought there friends and guildmates which helped alot. I also brought more entertainers, which helped out the place. Of course the place is still a bit slow buissness wise, but my point is BF, or no BF there is always a way to bring people in to thecantinas, if your willing to work hard.

I'm certain you didn't mean to imply that those of us who aren't getting people to the cantinas aren'tworking hard. Please keep in mind that patronage in the cantinas is very much a variable. It varies from server to server, from planet to planet, from time of day to time of day, and from publish to publish. Bestine on my server is actually relatively busy. However it's also populated by a couple of regular afkers who insist on taking up the middle of the floor, which instantly reduces the fun factor, and by an NPC quest machine. Right now the majority ofShadowfire combatants are very focused on loots and rewards. The only way to geta majorityto actually stop in a cantina is to host a give-away or lottery with high end rewards or start up a dueling competition.

I wasn't implying that at all. *sighs* I was attempting to cheer up the dreary attitude most entertainers seem to have about cantinas now, butI guess it wasn't taken correctly. What I meant to say was that no matter what there will always be people who enjoy coming to the cantina, you just have to find them.
