Thread: Ok if they can fix the AFK surveying why not AFK dancing?

Generally, since afk is fully supported, and technically even encouraged by the devs, I can't complain too much.

Well, I choose not to complain about afk's and macro's because I realize it would be a losing battle. It's a very deep part of the game at this point and I know it's never going to go away. So, it's much more effective for me to simply roll with the punches and choose as best I can to not let it affect my gameplay. After all, I think this game has a lot more positives going for it to get upset about a negative that has no chance of leaving.
On the other hand, I do agree with you about the holocraze. There will still be afk'ers to be sure. But, at least I can rest in the knowledge that once the hologrind is over, those who are afk'ing at any given time will presumably actually want to be entertainers, and hopefully when the cantina's are filled with those who want to entertain we can get back to the fun times we used to have in group chat, still have spam but a lot less of it, and still have afk but a lot less of it, and we can enjoy our community like we did in the olden days.
What he said. *points up*

just because the game allows certain things doesn't mean it's "ok". things are called "exploits" for a reason... i wouldn't say afk macroing is an exploit, although it's certainly not "desirable".
None of us are saying that. What we're saying is, AFK macroing has been OKed by SOE. If it has that stamp of approval, the whole AFK argument is moot unless they change their minds about it.
Of course, if those of us who think that AFK hurts the game don't voice up about it, it's unlikely the devs would ever change their minds. If we were to fall silent on the issue, the impression would be that no one has a problem with it, and there's no sense in addressing a non-problem. For this reason, I don't agree that the point is moot... only that we have no right to file reports on AFKers because it is permitted, and not officially considered a cheat or exploit of some kind.
I too am weary of the war... I wish that AFK macro-loops could somehow magically go away. But that doesn't mean I'm willing to just give up and fall completely silent on the issue. I hold my tongue often, as I am beginning to get some of those levels of frustration mentioned in other threads and am trying not to be too nasty about it. But I do have to speak up a bit, from time to time, as a reminder to those listening who may be in a position to do something about AFKing that I do not like it. Must recast the vote from time to time to be sure that at least one more opinion is not forgotten.
