Dancer Archive
Thread: i think im gonna be sick....
Well as a male twi'lek dancer... I get mistaken for one of the girls constantly. People asume twi'lek dancer = female. Heck, even when I'm not dancing, people assume that. At first I used to get a little offended and correct them. But it was happening so often, now I just roll with it, and comment how "Twi'lek are so good looking, humans can't tell them apart." or something similar, how it must be because of how good I look that they assumed I was female.
But the absolutely funniest moment.. I was standing at the shuttleport Verini Island (The little place in the south-west of Coronet) talking to a dancer friend. She'd known me long enough to also be pretty used to people confusing me for one of the girls. So when this architect strolls up...
Architect: Hello ladies.
Me: ....
Friend: Erm, he's a guy.
Me: *nods*
Architect: .... Oh, you had such a nice ass I kind of assumed...
That's more or less how it transpired. That was the only guy to ever admit that the reason he assumed it was because of how I looked. I was quite suprised. (That also may have been where I got the idea to start assuming it's because of how good I look.. I don't remember for sure.)

nothing wrong with guys with nice asses![]()
as for RatRock, you need a hug... don't let the kiddies bother you. around here, we *adore* male dancer, mmm
It really should not matter who is behind the avatar, it's not quite appropriate to take roleplay to the sleazy level. I always remember: the person I'm talking to could be twelve.
Take what happened to me during one of the first few weeks playing. A girl came into the cantina and started yelling "are there any lezbos here!!!" One of my friends, as a prank yelled out "n'Jessi is". A few seconds later she starts sending me these excited tells "ooo ooo you are too?" I had to tell her that I wasn't, but I felt bad about it because my friend was trying to prank me, and ended up hurting her feelings. Probably a teenager struggling with her feelings, trying to reach out online. It was mean of him to use her sexual orientation to mock her.
But having said that, I don't think it's appropriate to make advances in-game in the first place, even if you're just trying to find someone to talk about RL adult issues with. You simply never know who the other person is. I think we should feel safe to play what gender character we like (god forbid our *own* gender) and be able to take up whatever profession we want without worrying about harassment. RP is harmless, if it's done in good fun, but there is definitely a line.
I wouldn't feel too bad, more then likely it was some teenage boy playing a female avatar hoping he could score that way with other women. It wouldn't be the first time.

One of my closest friends on my server is a male master dancer. I met him a LONG time ago when we were mastering dancer at the same time, and he has taken so much harassment. He's a Zabrak, so there's not really any mistaking him for a female, and he is definitely a straight man IRL, but the torment that he gets from all the kiddies who play this game drives me nuts.
Keep your chin up. If that idiot was too keen on the idea of getting into someone's pixellated pants to bother checking on the victim's gender first, he is the one who should be laughed at, not you. ![]()
