I'll keep you guys posted, but I think this In Concept thread of TH's was a great foot in the door even if it's not the right answer for us. Over all, support for Ents is very high right now in the Corr Forum and I am very excited about that.

And my guess is that if we continue to respond in these concept threads with rational and logical posts, that support for entertainers will lkely continue. This is our chance to take the open doorway of two-way communication with the devs and keep it open. This could be the moment where things begin to change for the better. This could be the moment that some have waited a year for. Let's not waste the opportunity.

If even half of these get approved, we will have many ways to out perform AFK buff bots as a Live Dancer in the Healing/Buffing arena. I can't say whether or not AFK Bots will ever go away, but I do for the first time think we have some ways that will make it not such a big deal for us.

The combat balance won't be in effect until next year. Drygo is asking for a hot fix NOW not a spot in the vaporware "combat balance"publish that may or may not happen sometime next year.

"pre" means before.

The meeting was on things we can get before the CB. It's what we've been asked to do. I turned in 4 the first time we were asked... after this meeting though and having time to go over these things with other people, I think these proposals will be a lot stronger.

For what it is worth, I am very strongly against the proposed change discussed on the In Concept thread and posted there saying why.

AFK by itself isn't the problem, the buffbots are. Please fix this.Working onit!

And, I would encourage all the other entertainers out there who have a similar story to tell every day to post it here so that we can show the extent of our problem. Oh goodness please don't right now. Old Panthu might go right over the edge (you know my B-day is in two more days). I've got books worth of nightmare stories, I have plenty to show the Devs... besides, they are pretty much getting it now I think. We just have to help them find ways to fix it that we like.

Thank you for posting this Panthu. I think part of my problem (and many people's problems) for that matter, is that we're lacking in the "info" department. If I had known this information beforehand I probably wouldn't have posted what I did. This is why communication is so important. I consider myself to be a fairly patient person. And, if I know there are real, valid discussions going on behind the scenes about the buffbot problem and how it won't be an issue for us, even if I don't know the specific conversations, I'm willing to "wait and see." And, I'm certainly willing to take your word for it. You haven't steered us wrong yet. So, thank you. I will make a concerted effort to lay off the buffbot issue in that particular thread from now on and focus on what TH is asking. I was simply afraid TH and the other devs were only looking at the afk issue, which to me, is a minor issue compared to buffbots. And, I was trying to bring focus to the fact that buffbots are, in my mind, the biggest issue for us right now. I was mainly working with what little information I knew. Now, that I know this, I feel better. This isn't your fault, Panthu, because I realize you can only say so much. But, this is just an example of how much of a difference just a modicum of communication means to people. One simple acknowledgement that the buffbot scourge is being worked on makes all the difference in the world.

And, happy birthday.

Nope, nope, it's really today! ... 28 omg! /le freak out

Thank you!

We did another meeting last night (it went really late *snores*) and as soon as everyone has their say on the final draft and TH has it in his hot little hands, I'll come back and update you guys on the Topics Accepted.

We might have to wait a little bit to see what's going to be done and in what order, but I can update you on the topics at least.

I did not see it listed here so I will mention it. This idea does not address anything to me. Not only do the entertainers go afk but the patron as well. Most patrons come into the cantina and go afk while they get healed. There is no incentive on either side as far as I can see. Not only that but, it only address the issue of the entertainer who is aspiring to be master. It does nothing for the masters.

The buff bots have their macros set up so they can afk and still get paid and heal people, from what I understand. I do not see this concept working unless it is disabled from being set up as a macro. Otherwise the buff bot can just add it into the macro and still be afk.

I could be wrong on this as I am really new at dancing. This is my first thoughts upon reading the idea. It is nice to see thought is being put into the profession though, I feel this is not the way to go with it. It is far too boring to dance in a cantina for hours upon end because you need that precious healing xp. You can afk dance or play music anywhere and get that xp but you must have interaction to get the healing xp and it just takes too long.

Binding the players to not be afk on such a horribly boring grind is not the answer for me. Changing the grind itself would be more appropriate. The end result of being a master buffer is great and good money however, it can still be done while afk. The concept spoken of here does not address either of these issues.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen." - Julio Torres
