Thread: Amusing encounter from a former Master Dancer.
Best story I read in a long time. Well done! ![]()
Yeah, please post it on the main board ![]()
Bloody brilliant story hon, you really showed those guysa thing ortwo.
I recall a time I was in Theed dancing when some badly damaged people came in and started watching me, I was one of only three dancers their and two musicians, I was the most advanced in the group so they centered in on me, then they started with the idiocy.
First it seemed like just goofing around, /flirt 's, /flex 's, /tease 's then it started going into them saying I should be dancing in their laps since I was "dressed like such a **edit**" to qoute their words ( I was in an exotic Leotard) they continued this for awhile then started spamming me 1 cred tips, and did emotes like "sticks a dollar in her thong". Eventually it was getting me ticked off, it was then that I finally realizedthese two idiots were TEF'd apparently covert rebels, so I pulled out my faction pets and my animal, two Storm Commando's,a Dark Trooper and a Gualama fully grown and leveled, I then told them to get out.
They laughed and said I couldn't attack them since they were'neutral'it was then that one ofmy fellow dancers said: "Hey imbecile, you're TEFed."
As one of them said "Huh?" I gave my attack command, my imp pets took out one while my Gualama and I incapped the other, I then DBed both and haven't seen them since.
This is truly priceless.... I'm definitely reposting this on the main discussion boards because they deserve to see what can happen and why it happens.
Bravo!

I really wish that factions would not play so unrealistically. A rebel in Theed would have about as much chance of survival as a snowflake in Hell. We really need some way of preventing Rebels from healing in traditionally Imperial hospitals and cantinas, and similarly, we need to stop Imperials from healing in traditionally Rebel-dominated cities like Coronet or Anchorhead.
"If I am not mistaken even if you sell back the skills you still retain the XP pools"
Not so. You lose any experience that you had in that box.
Not true, because Rebels could be anywhere and everywhere. Your unrealistic portion comes with the whole overt rebel thing altogether. There's no way realistically to know if someone's a rebel. So they really can go anywhere. It would be the Imperials who are overt that should have the problem, as the majority of overts have pets, the armor, uniform, etc.
This game is played unrealistically in numerous aspects. Rebs in Theed and Imps in Anchorhead are tiny issues compared to all that's wrong.
As it is, I'm a covert Rebel and dance in Theed quite often. I have friends there and the XP is good. And danged if I want anything to prevent me from going WHERE I want WHEN I want just because I'm a Rebel. ^.^
Here's an encounter I had today:
A guy came into Mos Entha to be healed - he had a reasonably large amount of mind wound damage. I was the only dancer there, and he was my only customer. I greeted him as I usually do, and then Istarted to danceexotic3, which, as a master level dance, heals peopleextremely quickly. After he got the fastest heal he'd probably had in days, heran off without even a goodbye or aword of thanks. Now normally, if it was a crowded bar, this probably wouldn't have bothered me too much - in a crowded bar I have people to chat with to pass the time, and there's always something interesting to do. But in this case I was there solely to do my healing job - I'm a Master Dancer, so I don't need the XP, and I was sitting on 12K, so I'm not really short on money. Ijust figured that since the cantina was empty, I'd just spend an hour or so tryingmy best to do a good job for the customers. So I wassomewhat annoyed. Sure, this behaviour is almost to be expected from many customers, and I think the realization of that annoyed me even more.
Five minutes later he comes back with more mind wounds to heal. This, I thought, was too much. If he had just left and gone elsewhere I don't think I'd have thought much more about it. But I thought it was kinda presumptuous of him to come back so soon to an empty cantina, expecting me to heal him so soonafter treating me with such disregard.I'm not sure what he was thinking - clearly he didn't see anything wrong in his behaviour. So Ipacked up and left without dancing for him. He followed me and tried to tip me 50 credits. I tipped him back the 50 and told him that he was too late. I told him he should have tipped me (or simply thanked me) the first time. Later, back in the cantina, he again comes in with wounds, but this time hebrings a couple of his friends with him. I told everyone that I was sorry, but that I wouldn't dance for this guy today. After the other customers told him to leave, he left, then I healed everyone, and one of his friends tipped me 500 credits, which I returned, explaining to everyonethat I didn't want any tips from anyone, because I didn'twant them to think thiswas aboutthe money. I explained that I'd had it with people treating dancers as little more than slaves or heal-vending machines.
I think it got the message over. Most of the people in the bar took my side. Maybe what I did was a little over the top, but I've just had it with theattitude of people who think they're entitled to heals, and who don't see anything wrong in ignoring the people who are giving them the service.
"There's no way realistically to know if someone's a rebel. So they really can go anywhere. It would be the Imperials who are overt that should have the problem, as the majority of overts have pets, the armor, uniform, etc."
You're right - theidea should only apply to OVERT faction members.
I am really no different, I guess, having had my share of both good and bad experiences in my own in-game profession as a Dancer. I too tire of the obvious lack of respect many of the other players of this game have for entertainers. But lest we forget entirely why we chose this path, I'd like to share a tale of my own that turned out much better.
I was on Endor, having come there with friends the night before to have a look and see the sights. Due to the circumstances (I think we'd played right up 'til the time for the server reset, or something like that) I'd logged out there and returned to find myself alone the next day. Being an almost-Master Dancer with only the combat skills of a Pistol Specialist, I deemed it was time to head home and purchased a ticket. There were a couple other friends on back home in Naboo so I figured I'd go say hi to them.
Waiting on the shuttle and down to about the last minute or so before it arrived, I get a request, "Will you dance for me and my friend?" Hmm. What to do. Given that I -have- had less than fulfilling experiences with such situations in the past, I was hesitant to give up my impending shuttle ride and go dance for this stranger. They seemed quite polite though, and the place appeared to be empty save them and myself -- no telling how long it would be before another entertainer came to Endor. So I told the folks back home I'd be a little bit longer and said okay.
In the end, I have to say it was one of of the more enjoyable times, perhaps THE most enjoyable time I've had, if you look at just those times I've danced for the specific purpose of healing someone. There were two fellows, whose names I can't now remember (Sorry guys! I'm not the best with names.) and both were not only polite, but shared their own stories of their adventures on Endor and just generally made it an interesting and pleasant time for all of us. We talked a bit beyond the point where they were all healed up, and to top it off, they did both give fairly generous tips! It was a pleasure to have danced for them, and I made certain to say as much before they headed back out into the wilds and I for the shuttle home.
So yes, there are a lot of . . . less than bright . . . people out there who have made and continue to make our profession difficult to enjoy. It is a sad truth, a situation that I hope very much will improve with time. But there are still a few bright moments, people worth knowing and worthy of some effort to meet and get to know, that can make it all worthwhile.
"The moral of the story: Master Dancer is only 1 1/2 skill trees ... that leaves 2 others to be filled. So be nice to your local entertainer.
MidnightAngel, your my hero! I started as a dancer and got tired of the poverty and treatment by people. I have a varity of interests anyway, so I picked up 7 other classes (and am a master in one) and make a decent living. I only dance on occasion, usually to help comrades on missions, but sometimes I will stop by a cantina and if there are no other entertainers I will dance to help the few folks there. Most are nice, but few tip.
I have been ordered to "Dance" on a few occasions as well. One was at a tuscan fort where i could not have healed him even if i wanted to (not a cantina or camp). I just laughed and ignored him....jerk!
I am working on the Elite Class Carbineer, so I too can take care of myself and against a wounded jerk like the one you described would probably rip him a new one just as quickly as you did.
When the new player city expansion comes I intend to join a city militia. If a player is not nice to Dancers, guess who will be the first to type "\warn". Chasing some of these goons out of town would be a pleasure! Having a group of Dancers in Bikini Leggin's do it would be priceless!!!!
love and kisses (and much respect)

Storm trooper Dancing Poplock IS PRICELESS... And i am sorry to hear you guys are getting crumby tips! On starsider in bestine we try to give our dancers madlove least i do, Though IF i see your /afk and not saying a word forget about it. Less your the only dancer there that is ![]()
Thank you so much for your story Midnight Angel. I have been playing for about a month now, and just made Master Dancer a day ago. Last night (in Kor Vella coincidentally), I wastreated badlyfor the first time. I really just couldn't believe it as I have always been treated very well in Corona. I guess I handled it badly as I just called the guy an a$$hole and walked out, lol. He tried to tip me and I promptly returned it.
It upset me so much that I logged off right afterward. It was even bothering me today at work, lol.. I mean, I worked very hard to make Master and almost as soon as I reached it I was totally disrespected. Some people don't seem to realize the amount of work it takes to reach Master. (I am not an /afk dancer) Reading your story made me feel so much better, and also coincidentally I have been starting to train up the unarmed tree of brawler.
Hopefully next time this happens, I can be the one that makes that little box pop up on their screen. And oh yeah..in the meantime..I am taking names. *wink*
Thanks again. ![]()
