Dancer Archive

Ok, I am not grinding Dancer AFK...I had my guy dance for 8 hours yesterday, went from Novice Ent to 1010 Dancer in that time...and was present for the whole thing. Sure, I watched some TV and ate some, but if people asked me questions, I was there to answer and respond.

But, to be honest...Dancer sucks. It was incredibly boring, almost no point to the profession, no content whatsoever, etc. You Dancers have been horribly overlooked...or whatever other word you want to use for it. I feel sorry for you.

I was asking about it so compare it to Merchant XP rates...which you can also do AFK, right? All the other profession/conversion options are not feasible. Either they require millions of resources and mouse clicks, or they require medical...which has horrible XP gains.

I needed to know how long it would take to see if I could finish one pitiful line of FS Senses before I ship out for Korea. Excuse me. I found HELPFUL Dancers in the game...most of whom are doing Dancer for the exact same reason, because you all know it sucks.

LOL. Our's is not your playstyle. To many who come to this forum, the combat playstyle sucks. It just isn't something that everyone enjoys. The one great thing about SWG is it was designed in such a way as to cover the needs of many different playstyles. The entertainer playstyle is more social than combat and lesspuzzle intensive than crafting. We have our levels of competitiveness amongst ourselves from which we derive our sense of game. But it is not as tangible as what you are more accustomed to. Heh..if we thought it sucked, we wouldn't be doing it. Our limited inclusion in the FS system is there because we asked for it after finding that our playstyle was not included. I think this was a huge mistake on our part. We are a different game within the Star Wars game and we deserve to be acknowledged as such.

Combat Goober? Okay, I may have become one. I started as a Master Artisan, Armorsmith, Merchant...forover a year. Switched to combat with the CU. i am a social player, but don't see a lot of socializing with Dancer. I've been in the Theed cantina for almost 2 hours now, nobody will talk to me (there are 12 other entertainers in here) and nobody will group with me. The customers don't tip (I don't need it, just comenting), and don't talk to you. All the other entertainers ARE afk while I am not. Are they REAL Dancers or are they just FS grinders? Who knows?

But, since I've gotten more XP in the past 24 hours than I did with 0040 Medic over the past 6 months!!!! I'll keep going with Dancer. Eventually, the grind just pushes you out of the profs that you enjoy.

Trust me..on every galaxy..they are FS grinders.

Wow, the correspondant! I feel honored. Seriously.

I haven't seen these fabled REAL Dancers, yet. 2 days into dancing and I've made way more progress(advancement upwarp, I haven't made any FS xp yet) than I could trying to become a Carbineer or a Droid Engineer. The Dancer profession is just way faster! AFK or not.

I don't think you can blame the lack of REAL Dancers on me...since I haven't seen any yet.

No, you're not to blame for 2 days.

People insistently AFKing in the cantinas drove most of us out of the public venues and into private ones. You want us back, you have to get rid of the AFKers. And since the devs believe that AFKing == a valid form of playing the game, there's just no hope of that.

Funnily enough, Guild Wars just did a massive purge of bots (how you would bot that game I have no idea, but I guess people figure out how). It was their 2nd purge since the game launched (I believe), and they are still vigorously pursuing bots and stopping them. If only we had a dev team like theirs, in terms of its attitude toward botting, things would be better. And the funny part is, botting is totally silly in GW because there is no reason to do it -- if you want, you can start a PVP character at cap (level 20 with maxed out skills) and just go fight people, no grinding required. So in theory botting wouldn't even help anyone, and there's not any reason for them to even monitor it -- except on principle, which is that you should be playing the game not botting it. Go ArenaNet... SOE, take notes.

I completely disagree, because I am a dancer who is also combat, and I would love to be able to turn in both types of XP once I am FS. Because I do want to go Jedi. I don't know if we can even turn it in, I have only been on for two weeks, but if we can't, then I will need to give up Dancer for awhile while I am forced to grind out the combat for FS. I would rather dance, cap, turn in, kill, cap, turn in.<--Because these areBOTH things I enjoy. Which allows me to enjoy the game and attain the skill boxes for Jedi.
