Thread: The top 5 Issues for Dancers. 7-24-03. Please review and let me know what you think. Thanks!
Okay, this is a change to number 1. Not so much a change as much as an addition to take into account the recently announced update. The goal here was to maintain focus on those dances not mentioned in the post by Q. I still believe this still warrents a number 1 spot of attention to make sure the devs know we'd like to see them continue making progress in this area. If you all think I should just drop it for now and do something else let me know. I was going to send in my letter tonight but I'll wait until tomarrow so I can get your feedback on this. Thanks again everyone!
1. There is a major lack of flourishes and variation in the dances. I realize the work involved in improving this situation would be great, but as things stand the lack of depth in the dances is of great concern to the community. (Great improvement in this area seems to be already coming our way, thank you and I hope this continues to say the least! The following is a rundown of further changes that may or may not be needed depending on the update.)
-The biggest of these complaints is having only three of four flourishes per dance with little exception. This is just not acceptable in the long run for this profession, it gives the dancers very little artistic flexibility and the same three of four flourishes gets boring to watch. (Note: It would seem that the dev team is already making great progress in this area according to the update notes released by Q. This is great news indeed but would still like to see improvement on Exotic dance and Formal. Need more variationbetween exotic 1,2 and 3,4)
-Another problem is that the generic flourishes, 5-8 more often then not, don't fit the dance style they are associated with. This in most cases makes those flourishes unusable simply because combining them with the dance looks ridiculous at best. (Note: With the addition of more flourishes in the upcoming update, I'm not sure if any of the other dances will be affected and if so, how good they will look. I can say if no change has been made to Exotic for example, this will still be a concern.)
-The falling animation for Poplock needs to be changed badly. Doing a formal flourish in the middle of a Poplock dance makes absolutely no sense at all. (Note: I am guessing that with the addition of the new flourishes for Poplock this animation has been fixed too, if so please ignore this part. )
Oh yeah, the walking/running issue is deffinately on my list too.
I'm just starting with the biggest problems first, I'll be working my way down, don worry.

Why not open up Master Dancers so they can dance for very little Action cost?
Also, Starlance not sure if you missed it but this was in my letter as well.
"If anything the action cost should go down instead of up and at Master should be very small so they can dance for much longer periods of time. "
I may however reword my letter I'm about to send in to make it more clear I'd like it to be based on dancer level not the dances themselves.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Oh bah, just reread what I posted to you and my letter and realized I goofed. As far as number 2 and number 4 goes, 4 being the dancer exp not the light shows. (doh, I just woke up, hehe, cut me a break this time
) The same reason applies tho for why I didn't add them together. I think number 2 is much more important overall then number 4, and by adding them together it would draw attention away from 2, and at the same time would clutter things up too much. Besides, their really not the same issue so don't belong together.
Now, as to why I think 2 is more important then 4 is simple. With number 2 everyone would be getting more exp, and at the same time, number 2 helps our Masters out as well where number 4 just helps those on their way up. So in other words I think number 2 benefits more people and the benefit itself is greater.
