Thread: Dancing and the combat as a 2nd Profession
I am a dancer/fencer.
Things that help ...
Novice medic- gives medicine use +5 which allows both Stim A's and Stim B's
The Exploration Branch of the Scout tree - I have Exploration thru IV, but also can make traps and harvest and make mini-camps. Exploration speeds travel uphill and provides /maskscent to help hide you from aggressive critters. BTW hides/bone/meat seem to sell well at 4 cr, so when you come back from gnort slaughtering with 500 hides you can turn that into a 2000 bonus to your mission fee.
Marksman - I use a rifle on occassion to pull, but use the blade up close- If you don't get melee skills (one brawler branch) you need pistol. Fighting with a rifle or carb at point-blank is suicide.
Another skill to seriously consider is Surveying. It gives a reason to get out and about while creating economic opportunity.
In addition to hack and slash, just getting out and exploring the country is fun. SOE created some very pretty spots IMO.
Some dancer/entertainers have opted for very very low Health. Many melees have correspondingly low Mind. Critters can attack any of your pools (depending to the beastie of course). I find the best hunting mix is balanced not forgetting the secondary stats. With stimpaks you can heal H&A at the cost of M, as long as you aren't super-low to begin with.
Agreed. The first thing I tell people who ask about the game is that you won't get the most out of it unless you break the "I am X" mold.
I am an entertainer (9K dancing to master entertainer). I am a musician. (LONG ways to go, but aiming for master.) I am a miner with delusions of tailorhood. I am a scout who enjoys running fast uphill and skinning paralope. I am a budding pistoleer with an especial taste for gangsters (All Binayre pirates MUST DIE!). I can do any missions that any NPC offers me. When the cantina gets stuffy, I can head into the field and manage my harvesters and make some cash off the proceeds. If I happen to get "lost" while I'm out there and survey some new minerals and see some new sights (Anyone wants the waypoint to the Imperial Naval base on Corellia, drop an email in-game. Definitely worth a look-see.) then so much the better. When I get back, I drop some home-made instruments on the bazaar, head to the cantina, and dance and play away my cares while I needle the barflies about their latest misadventures.
The journey is what it's about. I see too many players who ground up to master musician or dancer in the first month and who now seem to be burnt-out. You've got 250 skill points and ten different worlds to adventure in. It'd be a shame for anyone to spend their entire game in a sunless bar when there's an entire galaxy just a few steps outside the door.
my wife has a master dancer in the gorath server as a master dancer you get a +7 in ranged defense and a +7 in melee defense did you guys forget about this?
she has migrated her stats and now has a full suit of composite armor on so she can go hunting with me. she does pretty good and she is already a novice carbineer so anything is possible even with a dancer
Health : 900
Strength : 450
Constitution : 600
Action : 1000
Quickness : 700
Stamina : 350
Mind : 800
Focus : 300

When i'll reach expert unarmed, i will probably migrate some Strength/Constitution back in Action/Quickness/Stamina and go pistol only in fights.
