I'm not so sure about that, Eshie. The forum has been different all day today in Netscape. They changed something (and more than just the search feature). If this works, then posting is fine on IE, but I just tried to do this same post in Netscape and it didn't work.

Fix for netscape -- Go into the preferences and un-check the box for the WYSIWYG forum editor. That was hosing my posting ability. As soon as I unchecked it, I was fine (as you can see).

As to how long -- so far Dejah has not been incapped. BUT... so far she has not left her home city. LOL.

My MTK/MCH however, has been DBed about 5 times by blue cons.

Speaking only for myself..I'm so used to dying that it really doesn't worry me too much. I can't say that I will be making any changes to the way I play..BUT..my little empire has resided 1km from the krayt graveyard since Aug 03 (mhm..over 4km from the nearest NPC city and months before mounts). The suicide express is a lot faster than running across the desert. And with only one character out of my four on my home server having any combat skills, it has been a long time since dying has bothered me at all. However, I do realize this is a concern for most entertainers, as well as most members of other non-combat professions and your voices are being heard along with the manyothers whoare speaking up about it.

I was talking to a friend of mine today who has no combat skills. He's a crafter. When he attempted to go to his factories he got killed by durnis. This of course caused him to clone to the nearest cloning center - about 4K away I think. And then make his way back to his factories.. where the durnis were still waiting for him. He had to log out and wait several hours before trying again to see if someone was online that could come kill durnis for him. I asked him how he had managed it before and he said he relied on armor to protect him long enough for him to run away. Needless to say he's not very happy with this change at the moment... and we won't go into how he feels about the changes made to his components in the conversion.

I've done a little hunting in the past couple of days and found a dramatic difference in the amount of damage taken when you are wearing armor and when you aren't. I understand why they wanted to change the armor system but I think excluding non-combat professions was a mistake. I hope they can implement a fix in the near future that doesn't involve phrases like "you can purchase PSG" or "You can hire someone to go with you". We've been told repeatedly that AFK entertainers are here to stay because people need them during off peak hours. Well what about that crafter who's on during off peak combat hours? Is he going to have a personal NPC fighter to help him out?

I can't even go to my house on naboo anymore. Anytime a spawn of low level ape thingies is there I am 3xincapped and have to clone. I promptly cancelled the account as well as my level 80 combat character.

This just isn't SWG anymore and the new game whatever it is just isn't worth a monthly fee to me.

hm.
Well the last time I became killed/incapped it was when we tried to help a friend doing a Jedi or FS mission (don't really know much about this stuff). By a level 139 sith.

Maybe I should add that I am master fencer / swordsman 0022 / brawler 4440 apart from being master dancer.

Those ape thingies (shapauts) used to kill me before the CU anyhow. They have always been deadly.

I hate those things. They bap you upside the head lol.

Seriously, the only time I've been incapped since CU is when I asked for it by taking on a critter that was too high of a level. Was just testing the system for fun and ended upstaring at the sky for a while. Traveling now takes some forethought and maneuvering but it can be done without dying.

Well if the lair of creatures or NPC's that DB spawn on your doorstep, as has happened to numerous crafters and full template entertainers on Shadowfire, then no matter how much forethought and maneuvering you think you can swing... there's a good chance you're going to take the clone express. Also, I've had plenty of bad spawn luck myself while exploring... giant and grand krayts spawning on top of me (killed my speeder and me); a lair of voritor hunters that spawned right as I was driving through... one of them managed to pull me off my speeder and kill me. Now the outcomes in those last two situations wouldn't have been any different before the CU. I'm just pointing out that no matter how careful you think you are being... all it takes is a bad roll of the spawn dice and you're going to get incap'd or cloned.

Well my entertainer Elwyn hasn't been incapped but I've only traveled in cities and from Keren to my house 1k away. If I go to bestine I know I'm toast since he has a lot of bad faction from his combat days. On the other hand my combat character Ellwyn (original aren't I ) has had more incaps and clones since the CU than I have had since starting the game almost a year ago. I'm simply stunned at how stupidly tied damage is to level. If it is below you it can hardly hit you but if it is above you watch out. So I know that at level 1 Elwyn will die FAST from anything. That is the whole problem, the level system, its a stupid, cheap, and programmatically simple solution implemented because it is simple and cheap. There is no balance simply lazy, ungifted programming. You want uber try a ranged, mezzer combo. Knee shot anything, let it crawl towards you as you pound on it, then root it and kill it. Our level 51 group of 5 took out two level 78 krayts last night much faster than we ever took them out before the CU. Let a pet pull them apart, knee shot, root, kill. The strategic combat we were promised is more formulaic and simple than the old way. Even fully buffed and composite armored I had better have the right combo of players for night sisters because their resists made no single class capable of killing all of them. Now its pull, knee, root, kill. Wow strategy!

Elwyn, I've found kneeshot only makes the target really intent on killing me and doesn't slow them down in the least. Can I talk with you via PM or game mail about your experience with kneeshot?

I have not died or been incapped on my dancer/tailor, but I really only bounce herback and forth between Theed and the house she shares with her husband. I've died twice I think on my combat character. Once was on purpose though. Suicide express for teh win.

I haven't been incapped or died yet. But, then again, the only thing I tried to kill was a chuba and I've been spending 99% of my time enjoying the new cantina atmosphere.

Neither my crafter, nor my entertainer have been incapped or killed since the CU. I've gone on swoop from Moenia to my home in a tiny city, I've maintained my harvesters and driven from the Mining outpost on Dantooine to the abandoned Rebel base POI.

My creature handler/musician/marksman alt has been incapped once, while I was trying to figure out why the baby shaupaut was as big as a full sized adult, and my TKM hasn't been incapped yet either.

Mind you, I didn't go after anything stupidly big with either of my combat alts... I'm still hunting tiny things and figuring out how my new skills work .
