I'm CL 54 at the moment. Master Dancer and TKM and I've had no problems defending myself as solo. I've thought about going for level 80 but decided I'd just let my alt take that for me.

Then you need to teach your group a few things. During the 2x XP week, we took a few groups to Lok for hunting. I'm TKM/smattering of other things including Dancer, and was main tank/puller for the entire time. With converted nutrient buffs, my hit points are sitting at 2000...and I incapped a total of 1 time (because I wasn't paying attention and pulled when I was at 25%.) This was against CL 80ish gurks and perleks. I was doing 700+ damage with bare hands and only taking about 160+ damage when they would actually get a hit on me. All you have to remember is that it isn't your job to cause damage...you job is to prevent damage to your group mates while they stand back and blow the hell out of what you're fighting. And in those times when I needed to heal up....We'd throw down a camp and I'd build the inspiration buff back up.

If you are dying before the rest of the group gets the thing killed, then maybe the rest of the group needs to figure out why they're doing so little damage.

Hmm. Well, TK just doesn't work for me anymore, whether it's me or the group, I just don't like it. But, I'm not complaining about how sucky it appears to be (which it does, lol). But, I've switched to pistoleer. I've always wanted to be pistoleer as well, but never had the skill points. Perhaps during the next combat upgrade in 2007 I'll go back to TK.

I am sorry to see Master Dancers drop their boxes. Why are you having such trouble surviving? I can understand if you are pure Ent.

Well for myself I didn't give up master dancer because I felt I had to tosurvive. I droped it because I felt I wasn't getting much from more then half the skill lines needed tohave it. I still heal BF and give inspiration buffs fast enough that I don't miss those skill lines at all, in the techniques I miss the smoke bomb the most, the rest of the light effects I only really used when dancing with some friends at partys.

Really it didn't impact the fun I have as a dancer much and having the extra combat skills means I've been able to contribute when hunting with friends up to the level I was able to pre CU.

Fairynuff. The most important thing is to still have fun.

Dot dot dot.

Who said anything about giving it up to survive? I thought I was pretty clear about my reasons for dropping in my original post, but I'll be happy to go over them again. Ava was never a combatant to begin with. She was a dancer/tailor with a few leftover skill points in TK, giving her a CL of 14. It wasn't worth keeping that because everything is STILL going to kick her ass. When the CU went live, I made my ID/pistoleer a pure combat character, which meant I didn't have ID on either toon. In the grand scheme of things for me, ID is more important than dancer. It was my first profession, my first love and I can't seem to survive without it on at least one character. So I dropped all of Ava's combat stuff and a few boxes of dancer (master plus three, to be exact) and relearned master ID.

If I were dropping dancer to survive and ended up with a lower CL than I started out with, I'm doing something very wrong.

I've dropped master dancer twice. Ow ow, it hurts. I still have dancer on three of my characters, just not master at the moment.

Odd isn't it. I started this game as a combatant and switched to entertaining after several months. I got an alt to do combat because I wanted my old rifle/CH back. After the CU I'm finding combat not only more formulaic and predictable than the old system but so borked as to be non-fun. Imaji, entertaining, my guild, and my friends are all that keeps me here anymore. I still have the alt but I'm considering dropping it and just having Elwyn as a pure entertainer. Store all that might decay and just not worry about the clone rides when I encounter one of the MANY factions that hate me from my past and do the only activity that has any variety, uniqueness, and unpredictability left in this EQ clone.

That really is a serious problem CU created and not addressed at all.

The least they could have done was zero-out the factions related to the NPCs in NPC cities.

So we would all start with a clean slate so to speak, or somehow tie it to the level.

And to the point of the tread, I truly am so sorry you guys feel you have no other choice

It makes me very sad. Just please remember, the whole point is to have fun.

I'm doing this because I want to. Really. I'm sad to give up my master title, but seriously. I needed a change and I'm loving the combat changes. Please don't feel sorry for me, or think that I've been 'forced' or 'pressured' into this choice. Come on guys, you all know me well enough to know that no one forces me into anything. I've been wanting to split my characters up into combat and non-combat for ages now, but decided to wait till the CU because of the skill requirement changes.

I droped from master dancer too, soI could take part in the ground game outside the cantina with friends. I really like the master box in dancer but of the skill lines leading to it I'm only really happy with knowledge, I miss some of the light effects from the techniques line as well as the dances in master but not enough to make me happy with tieing up 43 skill points to get those light effects and the master dances. I still really enjoy the 0040 part of dancer I have leftand hopefully if the entertainer revamp actuelly happens it will be good enough that I'll want to get those skill lines again.
