No one ever acused it of being illegal its just some of us are annoyed when we walk into a full cantina 20 people or so say anyone not afk and not get a single awnser! I think we all would like it to be made illegal and they just shorten training time for master dancer as right now it is very hard to obtain without going afk.
Actually, some said it was illegal. When reading the EULA, it's easy to glean that AFK macros are the same as unattended game play. By strict dictionary definitions, the EULA speaks out against AFK macros. But the higher-ups have defined terms differently. Fine. It's their ball. Define away.
But they really need to change the EULA to reflect this. Some people do not read these boards and realize what Jeassa and others have said about AFK macros. They will still find this phrase in the EULA and believe that AFK macros are illegal.
It's legal to put up a shop next to someone else's weapon vendorand sell Laser Rifles for 5 credits apiece, but it still sucks.
I'm glad some of you still have fight in you, because I've about given up on those people. I'm still too stubborn to drop my Dance skills, though.

Funny how people tend to respond to metaphors by trying to point out how silly they are if taken literally instead of addressing the point it is making.
That still didn't make it RIGHT. Nor was allowing it to be legal (and possible) for so long a very wise move on SOE's part.
To my knowledge, camping clone centers, med centers, and cantinas is also, still, legal. That does not make it RIGHT either.
To have a fun roleplaying game, lots of things that are LEGAL and not a problem when done by one person (or a handful of people), become a serious detriment to the fun of the game, when many people are allowed to do it. This is a simple RPG principle that every good DM/GM has known for many years.
The real shame of it is that the SOE folks seem to have lots of experience in the table-top RPG area (based on some of their offhanded comments on various answers to other threads in the forums) but none of them seem to have realized that certain general principles that apply to table-top games also apply here, and the developers have ignored those principles -- to their extreme detriment.

hmm....
hey, gay marraiges were once illeigal, can we make murder legal now?

Why not? I get called a nazi for removing 'NPC's from my groups even though I state plainly, up front, when forming the group that I'll be removing people if they long term AFK. What's good for the goose is good for the gander and all that jazz.
