Letting a profession "hang on" for a few publishes waiting for a fix or replacement content is very damaging to the profession's population and morale.

The Devs don't exactly have a stellar track record with these situations. I want to feel better about these changes we're seeing right now.
I'm optimistic, but I know there are a lot of folks who aren't as much, and part of me is VERY hesitant, too.
Well im excited for the following reason.
I will soon see myself if in my opinion if this stuff improves or breaks dance further.
Lets be honest
Nothing a dev could say right now would make me feel better or encourage meabout their work quality. In fact, they could spend a whole day in here posting & it wouldnt necessarily mean jack with their track record. I wanna see the actual stuff in test/live. Also..... Id rather they spend their time and our money
building /developing / testing than whispering sweet nothings in myear.
So to me this coming out now (soon?) is great news, if its good great! If its bad I know now, and can move on... it will be easy to see if any effort was put in.
How will we make money?
I'm sorry but there are not enough people coming to get Inspiration buffs to ensure making sufficient money. Add to that the buffbots who don't set a /covercharge, and its almost impossible to make a living.
Removal of BF is a big step, it destroys our connection with the other players. It should not be removed like this without equally connecting content replacing it.
I don't believe promises of future stuff......2 years for Smugglers to get slicing attention...then changed to a loot system that cuts out the crafted items that WS, AS, and Smugglers made for slicing; Tailors have been busted now for over a month and no attention; They have a very poor record.
Hardly any, and the numbers are dwindling even more as people learn that having 1k BF doesn't really impair you.
/shrug
IMO this is just removing the BF counter display and BF was actually removed with the CU when they removed the penalties to walking around with BF.
We had a dev state our non-combat inspirations were in development and ask for suggestions on more types we would like to see. I don't think anything they can say will be a stronger statement that they're really working on this.
Though personally I always like more reassurances that the new inspirations will be ATK only

When the Test servers come up, there might be Blue Froggies around on TC-Bloodfin if you want to roll up a character w/Master Dancer there.![]()

There aren't on TC2, or i couldn't find them.
So if anyone with a Bloodfin or TC master dancer could tell me what they "fixed" with exotic please?
I'm stuck at work until midnight ET but I'm asking to see what info I can get on that big mystery.

Having said that, I am less enthusiastic about what is being taken away. I've said it before and I'll say it again here: I think removing BF is a bad idea because it almost completely severs our link with the combat players and because it completely removes our last opportunity to provide downtime service. Downtime service is precisely the type of interaction that should be encouraged between Entertainers and other players because the players have time to enjoy what we do. If they want to give us useful, but not critical buffs, that's fine too. I don't mind that but as long as buffs have ticking timers they will be a prep-time service which means that players won't come to get them until they make other plans for something to do. Then once they've got their buff, they'll head off to go find a group or go join a group or maybe return to their research center player city for a crafting session. There's nothing about the buffing process that encourages players to sit back, relax, stay a while, and enjoy the show.
Worse than that, as Warryyr and others have pointed out, they are taking away core functionality and replacing it with nothing. Sure, maybe BF isn't accumulating very fast right now, but they could have added ways to increase BF gain instead. It seems to me a poor choice to make a player profession worse before you make it better. Even if the reason is so that changes can be introduced gradually they could have added new functionality before removing existing functionality so we don't get the feeling that we're just losing something. It would help if a dev were to stop by and reassure us of what's coming down the pipe and that it will be soon (as in within the next few publishes) just like they stop into other profession forums to let people know that they're still tweaking some special attack or some weapon or something while they're actively working on it.
The other thing is that I'm worried that this could kill cantinas - at least in NPC cities. With no BF to heal, there may be little reason for Entertainers to hang out in cantinas just as doctors have mostly abandoned the medical centers. I tend to think this will lead to entertainers, especially the veteran ones, grouping with friends and hanging out in their favorite player city cantina or roaming around doing inspiration buffing in camps or on-call because there may be little or no reason to go to the NPC cantina. Maybe only the newer players will go to NPC cantinas because they don't know where else to go, but they might not meet many other players or more experienced entertainers. The AFK situation has already pushed the game in this direction, but if you can do everything in a camp that you can do in a cantina, I think many players will forget about cantinas altogether.
I don't know if devs consider the cantina environment to be unpleasant and are making changes so that players don't have to deal with it anymore as Sirii suggests, but I do agree with her whole-heartedly that the reason it is bad now is because of AFK, and not because BF makes people feel as though they are forced to see entertainers and are prisoners of the cantina. If they would remove the lifeless AFK'ers, add more "cool things" that entertainers can do (like the new features that are coming in the next update), improve the leveling process so that it's faster and seems less like drudgery, and add content so that Entertainers have a purpose in the game and feel like an actual part of it, then I think you'd see more entertainers, and cantinas would be more fun and lively places if you still had a mechanic like BF to bring Entertainers and other players together in them, and I bet only the real complainers would mind.

Anyone can tell me what the "Exotic flourishes now function properly." means?
I mean I consider the flourishes 4-8 broken since they do flourish 3 from Rhythmic instead of the Exotic flourish they should do, but somehow I fear they did not mean that.
How will the props be distributed? A few in the EH branch, others in the BF-healing? All in EH, and as elite you can just duel wield them?
Are they schematics+certifications, or somehow "instant creation effects", something we can summon from nowhere so it doesn't take up inventory - as dancer I have far to less of that already?
I need to level a Dancer on TC, just to test stuff like that myself next time
I want to know the above too!
I don't really think that they should remove BF without replacing it with something else first.
People say be paitent, they removed it we are testing it before we get the next step. I just want to remind people of a post back in Jan '04 "We are removing Battlefields while we make them better" Para-phrased, but that is basically what they said.
I will continue with my Dancer Alt as I like meeting the people in the cantina, but depending on how this hits live I'll be canceling that account. On my fighter character I don't visit the cantina at all unless I have some good BF 200+ and with the removal of BF I'll probably never set foot in a cantina again, unless one of my guildies askes for my help there.

Nobody that I've talked to has figured out what the fix was to the exotics. 4-8 are still the shimmy.
