Thread: There is some hope on advanced planets
Only to find two afk entertainers already in the cantina (during prime hours) and nobody to let me into the group.
I tried doing some 'entertaining' on my own hoping that the people would prefer to watch the real live act instead of the robot lady. But apparently the robot lady was more attractive than my sleek, groovn' self and so I kept getting passed over for the bot. ( "Her" macro wasn't even that good. )
I got frustrated and left.
I don't have that big a beef with late night afkers, especially in remote spots but prime time pisses me off.
I've had mixed results on the advanced planets, just as I have in the cantinas. I have to say I don't run into as many cyber-trollers in less-travelled areas, which I consider a bonus.
We talk a lot about wanting to be social and chat. That's exactly what pulled me into the dance profession. I'm not all that skilled at killing things, but I like to hang out and joke around with people. It is definitely my forte. I did develop a group of friends that I look forward to seeing and I return to Coronet and Theed frequently to find my friends, and there within the sea of afker's I'd find the folks I was looking for. All was well, except, I wasn't making a lot of money. Sure I was chatting up a storm, but tips were few and far between. Ungrateful PowerGamers! Social Sucking Zombies! The unfairness of it all!
Then I realized something. Sure, I was socializing -- with other entertainers! Sure everyone would hit F5 to "Welcome UberGamer to the Cantina" but then we'd turn back to one another. Unless I knew the gunslinger who just walked in, I would essentially ignore them after I greeted them. Heck, I was as bad as any macrotainer in the room, maybe worse! No wonder I was being used and not being paid.
Well, I started playing to the customers rather than my fellow entertainers, and guess what? Like rain from heaven, the tips started coming in. Of course so did the offers for sweet pixel-loving, but you take the bad with the good. The people coming in were appreciative of the real attention not just some empty greeting which had become no better than tip spamming, ramdom chuckling, and kiss blowing.
I've kind of lost my point here. Oh, yeah. Dancersand Musicians of integrity: don't let the jeditainers and macrotainers get you down. Play your game and play with the folks that are there. Love the ones you're with. Or something like that.
