You all have way too much faith on the Dev.

This does nothing to add needed content to the entertainer professions. All it does is take the 19 other people out of an entertainers group giving dancers a one month grind to master instead of a three day.

Of course some of you like that *shrugs*. I'm just glad I got dancer finished before then.

"I agree with Sultrina, this jedi revamp will solve the AFK issue like the mind buff and the player city have fixed it...ie : it will solve nothing :/"

It will make things a little better. I would take the "cycling cantinas" over what we have now. At least then there was always somewhere you could find live entertainers. However you are right, it will not solve the problem. I don't think anyone is saying it will.

A common misperception about grouping. The slow xp right now is healing xp. This is not going to change how many injured people come into Coronet. If anything, it will be more because people will be back out fighting instead of doing things they don't like. On top of that if there is only one group in coronet, everyone there gets all the xp instead of splitting it between groups. There will probably still be nearly a full group in the big cantinas. The people in the groups will be there because they want to be, not because they feel like they are being forced to. You don't see any of this as a good thing?

I agree whole-heartedly. I got most of my dancing experience in Theed, before the really big hologrinding macrotainer plague. I had no problems getting groups or experience, dancing AND healing, plus the groups were fun and lively. Back then there were a few people who came in, joined the group, and then went AFK for hours. We mostly made fun of them.

Why would you want to "grind" it in 3 days if your not there for a holo? I got dancer in 8 days, at the keyboard the whole time. the reason being not so i could grind it out but because i loved it so much at the time i just wanted to play that much. Looking back i wish i had taken 3 months to do it because its the provess thats the fun part.

It's a start, Sultrina. And it is an acknowledgement. The developers (without admitting it in so many words, which I am sure for obvious reasons they will never do) have realized that we've been right all along, that hologrinding is ruining the game and has horrifying consequences on the community. They are taking steps to fix it. Remember that many of the same things that make a server full of hologrinders a bad idea also apply to a cantina full of macrogrinders. Maybe an acknowedgement that a game full of non-players is a bad idea -- probably, again, without any actual admissions -- is not too far off. At least this gives me some hope. They are making a substantial change to a major system that has presumably been in place since early pre-production, after looking at the behavior it's encouraging in game and saying, "Gee, maybe that wasn't such a great idea." If they can do that once, they can do it again.

In a strange way, perhaps the holos and random profession mastery and all the AFK macroing they caused were a good thing in the long run. They caused such an unbelievable epidemic that even a bunch of devs with very restritive blinders on had to notice it eventually. And the good thing is that when they did finally notice it, apparently (again, reading between the lines) they at least had the honesty to say, "Whoops!"

Pickles, we got 2 pieces of news that change things substantially today. Two of our major issues have been (1) hologrinding must end, and (2) we need a buff meter. Both of those seem to have been heard. The devs just didn't tell us we were heard before the sprang it on us. Maybe this means some of our other issues will be heard as well. I hope this means you will re-consider leaving us, and stick around.

I've always hated the AFKers, but there's a huge difference between the AFKer that actually want to be an entertainer, and are just to shortsighted to earn it at the keyboard, and a roomfull of AFKers that hate our profession and hate every moment of being there. /shrug

If it does, then it is long overdue. And better late than never.

I so hope this is right. We'll be plagued with buff bots being built for a while as all the Jedi turn their original characters into Doctor/Dancers, but I pray that this will spell the end for the sheer horror of the current cantina scene.

Back in November/December I posted that Coronet Cantina on Chimaera was a fun, vibrant place light on hologrinders. The newness of the server meant that very few combat capable characters had reached the level to be able to camp the Force Crystal Cave and there weren't many holocrons around. All was good - until Xmas. I logged in that morning and was appalled at what I saw. Coronet had gone from its previous fun self to the image of all the other servers. **edit** near broke my heart and I've barely played that character since.

Before Xmas there were a few AFK'ers, but not many. Maybe people getting the Ent professions "out of the way" before they moved on to hologrinding, but they were a distinct minority. Once the path is changed, I hope we can get back to the way things were.

They were not,I started as a scout which i didn't llike, followed by a marksman that i also didn't like and started dancer about 2 weeks after starting the game. And i held dancer for 3 months, longer than any other professionI have had so far. Left it when alot of my friends did as well and have done many combat professions since as well as medic/doctor which i liked better than any of the combat professions yet still less than i did entertainer.
