Thread: Away from the cantina?

As for myself: while I play 4 entertainer characters (across 4 servers), 2 crafters and 1 combat character; On my home server, I'm on my entertainer probably 80% of the time but I really spend very little time in cantinas. My ingame hobbies include; badge collecting (she's up to 78 now) andcollecting rare items. I like traveling around andvisiting POIs. I love going to watch my guildies take down bases..I usually just run around screaming "yaaa" and for some reason this is all the contribution they need me to make.
I guess what I'm thinking is that, while I spend most of her skillpoints on entertainer professions, the majority of my game time is spent doing things that aren't entertainer related (in my case, really not profession related either).
When I'm not hunting or doing quests for new ships and shiny stuff on Kashyyyk, I am with my SEA vette assualt team (either inside or out), or we head off down the DWB.
For a complete break from the cantina and combat: I have a PA hall to decorate and a house still to do too.
I wish...
We could have couples dancing. Not just for entertainers, but able to dance with customers-friends-dates too!
That theaters (NPC and PC) had reasons to be used. And the ability to drop sets, props, etc. Put on plays, comedy actsand other type shows. A way to advertise when a show is going to be there or is actually going on. (something like cantina registration but visual from the outside so passerby can tell ashow is on in there?)
Tagging along on group hunts, fishing, space-faring... so much to see and do. It would be nice if there were riverboat cantinas and spacestation cantinas and ...

PARTIES. PoI parties, Hunting Parties, XP parties. Cantina time is only for when no one is around and I want to bs with random strangers and rp a bit.
If your looking for additional content to add to the entertainer lines perhaps some meaningful benefitfor attending and participating in a party.
-Entertainers are notoriously poor so offering prizes for events becomes problematic. Maybe trophies or medals that could be crafted by an entertainer that would actually look like a trophy or medal (if you could make a medal display on a person's clothing that would be even better).
-The ability to stream music to my cantina or housefrom my computer (steps on the toes of musician's, isn't immersive and probably shouldn't be implemented but I personally would love it).
-The ability to give "Dance lessons" so that I can teach people at my party a few moves (that they would forget in, say, an hour) so that they can dance and goof off for a bit.
and how bout some additional props. The event planners are cool but very very limited in the decorations. we need beach umbrellas, volleyball nets (or something like it spun to be star warsish) so that we can have a proper beach party. We need some kind of outdoors cooking device, picnic tables, and beer coolers to support an emersive barbeque. We need boxing rings, stadium seating and hot dog stands (or the starwars equivalent) to host fighting tournaments.
There's a ton of items that entertainers could have exlusive access to that would promote them as party planners. I wouldn't mind seeing the proffession leaning in that direction.

Currently I'm decorating my second home and that is usually all I do when I get a chance to log in. heh
A lot and I do mean a LOT of my time is spent RPing. Only a small portion of my RPing is done anywhere near a cantina.
And of course, I love to go shopping.
oh wait ... wrong post ... *ahem*
I like variety, and in reality I tend to spend little time in the cantinas since I mastered unless it's hanging out in a group of friends or when I just want some down time. I like collecting badges and interesting goodies, exploring planets, running any missions that I can do with my low level combat skills or higher level missions if I can trick, I mean, talk a friend or guildie into helping me with (NPC missions, story arc missions, themepark missions), and blasting TIE fighters any chance I can get.
There are a few times I was able to help heal mind wounds and buff during a large PvP battle, and it was fun to be able to be a part of that and contribute in some way. I also like organizing entertainer events and planning and participating in Celestial Storm gigs and events. At the starport, a friend's house, toodling after a friend or just near a friend while they're crafting.
I would really like to see Couples dances.
And, this just occured to me and while I don't see it happening: The ability to give "Dancing" lessons to non-entertainer professions. These would ONLY be couples dances, not anything that would allow healing or inspiring ability, and they would have to "learn" them over time by practicing with some performers. Just a thought/dream.
I would like to be able to set up a temporary stage somewhere outside a "cantina," ideally being able to heal and inspire from it but if not - even just as a prop! A mic, some speakers, perhaps a Nal and Omni. Like the stages outside major starports.
More Holoemotes.
More sparklies.
More color options for clothing as an entertainer.
Entertainer specific pets, or animated props. Be nifty to dance the Exotics with a snake.
Outdoor Cantinas. Part of my problem with Cantinas is they're...stuffy. You don't want to be there unless you HAVE to be - they're dismal places! The atmosphere in there sucks. The Salons have a better atmosphere. I understand the desire to cut down on lag, but from the populations I'm observing, there should be absolutely no problem with performer lag at this point. I think most of my current cantina lag is purely due to having to load all those pointless NPCs in there.
The ability to "inspire" a temporary bonus to damage, damage mitigation, use fewer resources while crafting/in schematics created while buffed. Not HUGE bonuses, just small ones that will make a difference over time.

I'd like to be able to throw a ball at someone, have it shown, and have them be able to throw it back at me. A shiney one!
I want a droid module that ONLY holds clothing items (no furniture, armor, weapons, deeds, food/drink, resources, medical stuff, nothing but Clothing!), perhaps a limit of up to 40 (preferably 80). Perhaps a requirement of Novice Musician/Dancer, so it wouldn't be abused. I logged in after the CU and I had this CU Commemorative Plaque. And I could not move. My inventory was overloaded unless I wore several items - my inventory is completely full of just costume wear. Most entertainers don't wear backpacks because they "ruin the lines", and I'm no different. I want a way to store as much as everyone else, without detracting from my appearance.
I think it'd be sorta cool if a Voice was added to musician. It wouldn't require an instrument of any kind, but it would have it's own flourishes for all the songs. One for male, and one for female obviously (more for each gender would be spectacular!), just humming or something - NOT whistling though, hehe.
Tattoos for IDs - mebbe something like henna (temporary), for all races. Something for the upper arm, the wrist, the belly or tush. Limit it to performers if you like, though that probably wouldn't go over very well with others...
More Entertainer Only clothing - and not stuff that looks like it should be kept behind closed doors with that "someone special." Yes, we're supposed to be visually appealing, but can we have the option to do it in a classier fashion, while still being obviously entertainers?
Ok that's my wishlist, unthought out as it may be. =x

My entertainer's role has drastically changed. Originally I created her to be my Jedi's private mind buffer. I could be assured that no matter what, I would never leave my house without 25/25 mind buffs, dance and musician.
That was the plan, anyway. I mastered image designer in the old, 10 mintue migration system, before I even got any dancer/musician boxes in entertainer. I ran around doing migrations and making cosmetic changes to earn a few credits for my entertainer. I spent a lot of time in Mos Eisley helping out people and trying to give advice.
As for the time she didnt spend in the ID salon, or the cantina, it was spent adventuring.
She every single race track and was the record holder. She did corvette missions for the badges. And maybe most impressive, she is my only toon to complete the Hero of Tatooine Quests.
Today, she no longer has dancer, but that may change with the respec. I made her:
- Master Image Designer
- Master Armorsmith
- 4000 Smuggler
But to answer the original question, one must take into consideration now what content IS open to entertainers with little, or no combat. For me, it was POI's, "epic quests" which I could drag an alt along to kill that 1000 heath meatlump on the 3rd leg of the quest...etc. But most of all, for me, my entertainer was my fun character. Noone would message her to ask what Jedi template they had to go. Or asking me to appraise 30 different clothing/armor attachments...or ask when I'm restocking krayt pearls or krayt weapons...etc. Noone knew her, and it was such a nice break from the tell hell I get on my other toons.
