NEW to the forums eh? Whatever you do.. don't ask any questions about making the game play itself through macros, all day and all night as an Entertainer. The high and mighty SWG community who thinks we should bow down and respect them for playing since the beginning will bash anything you say or do... bitter? me? Nah!![]()
Fixed. ![]()
I feel you are misguided, and I'm sorry you have such a poor opinion of us. We're not high and mighty, we just want people to PLAY SWG and not macro it to make it play for you. If you're not playing a game, why are you paying for it? It's as simple as that.
"The high and mighty SWG community who thinks we should bow down and respect them for playing since the beginning will bash anything you say or do..."
This couldn't be further from the truth, honestly. We do not demand anyone bow down and respect us for playing since the beginning (i've only been playing since early 2004). And we most CERTAINLY will not bash anything you say or do.
We WILL bash you if you make broad assumptions about us, and fail to look over even a few posts in the community which clearly illustrate that we're not pleased with people who set up a macro to play all day and night, rather than actually playing their characters.
I'm sorry you had such a bitter experience initially in the forums, but making insulting statements towards us like you did above won't exactly win you any friends, and the attitude will only serve to further alienate you. We aren't high and mighty. We're just people who know that it's extremely unhealthy for SWG to have people running macros instead of playing their Entertainer characters, it reflects poorly on our professions to those who need our services, and it takes only a moment of time to look over posts to see this position in the community on the forums.
I'm more than happy to answer any questions you or anyone have, except asking how to play all day and night using a macro. That will get your post locked in this community, because it's too tempting for people to start getting angry about it, which does nobody any good.
Take care, sorry things took the bad turn they did when you first started posting. But don't confuse another new person because you wanted a macro to play your character for you. You found out our perspective on AFK the hard way - and we as well as the Devs know it's not healthy or appropriate. And we will tell anyone who asks our position exactly that - and we will tell anyone who asks for a macro to go AFK to just go away. We don't needthe flamefest those posts bring, sorry.

I'm a bit confused as to what, precisely, "the game playing itself" entails. Is it making a macro that does the dance for you, so that you can interact with people more easily? Is it setting your char up, and then leaving? Do you all support people only playing by clicking on each individual flourish? I'm just a little unclear. I mean, I have a dance macro, but I also will sit and talk to people through tells, "give them flowers," wink, and whatnot...Am I doing this wrong?

Don't mean to confuse ya ![]()
I should've been more clear.
"The game playing itself" really meant to be "The game playing itself while you're sleeping, at work, playing golf, and so on."
As was said, you're using macros for what they're meant to be used for - freeing yourself up to interact with people. Some folks, however, use the system to make themselves continue dancing and playing music all hours of the day and night, for days at a time, without ever turning their computer monitor on again. That's what harming our profession, not people who use macros to make interaction easier, or to create dance routines or song performances.
If you're at your computer, you're playing the game as it was intended. No worries, it sounds like you're right on with your gameplay, the important thing is to have FUN and encourage others to have fun as well ![]()
Welcome to the forums! You'll find a lot of great info and tips here as well as find the place to offer your own.
Don't worry about using the game macro system to help you with your routines. While there are some great performers here who have the ability to manually perform each move of their routine, there are just as many of us who can't. I myself have dance macros that I use because of some physical limitations that I and my computer have. What you won't find here is a lot of people who set the macro running and then simply walk away. Like you we like to interact, perform, change costume, etc.... So don't worry and have fun.
