Question if we were to say create an argument to fit the SOE "story/fiction" what if we earned our buff when other's /watched us? Every entertainer is inspired by a great responsive audience, so if they /watch us or /cheer us then that would fit the ficiton, right?

That's true, and would help solve the issue of the hybrid buffing groups as well as herself. Best case scenario is that we can buff ourselves, but this is the type of solution I can live with and creates some inter-character dependency that SOE is so fond of lately.

Ok.. Ok.. I think i just got it.. and I'm not sure if anyones said this yet so...
If we could all self inspire ourselfs with hprofession speific buffs.. You do realize that the moment we started Danceing/Playing our profession specific buffs would be over wrtitten with the general buffs.. right?
Chalk up another reason to make the General buff active..
We are getting screwed outof theability to sell buff.. so that combat monkies can have their buffbots!! Its got nothing to do with SOE's given reason.. its because the only way to make us able to self buff is to make the general buff active, and then all the combt monkies would whine and cry about not being able to get buffed.

You've got it Q. Evidence is in how the crafter-whiners are reacting. Imagine that with the combatants, but multiply it oh, say, 100x.
At least, that is what SOE is afraid of, and they are chicken enough at this point after the XP fiasco of the previous publish, not to push it yet.

I dont suppose anyone has recently started a new dancer and talked to Allura?
you know, that girl in the Eisley cantina...
you know, the one that STATES we can buff ourselves.
Idont see why some programmer at SOE would put that in her speil,if it wasnt meant to be.
they need to change that pronto

I would be happy with just being able to give myself a general inspiration buff. This would at least mean that when out hunting in the wilds, I don't miss out on group xp.

I couldn't help but notice from this latest response from Keldarin that they are making sure that SL's get the benefit of using their own buffs even when solo in the new upgrades they're getting. Apparently SL's can order themselves to perform better, but ents are still unable to inspire themselves.
Eshie, has there been any new word on this issue yet?

I'm bringing it up regularly and taking more verbatim to them today. I haven't been given any statements I can share with you guys yet though.

So after a long and painful debate with myself I dropped Master dancer yesterday. Will probably end up as 0040 by the end of it all.
just too fed up with all the messing about with buffs and inspiration etc... .
It stopped being fun.
maybe later I will go back to master dancer but I guess we will see.
thanks to all for listening and for being supportive and so on. I will keep some dance because it is part of who I am in character, in real life and so no, but the mixed template just doesn't work for me any more. I got tired of being ganked by lvl 65 critters and rebels.
anyway, thanks to you all and good luck.

I have been seriously tempted to do the same. But then it occured to me: why the bleeping heck should I? Too badfor SOE that I can remember the days when we could combine any prof with a combat elite and still kick ass. If IRL I was a dancerwho I chose to take up a martial art, being a dancer would not stop me getting the highest level within that prof, in fact it should help me be even better at it, as I would already be fit and agile. Does being a Musician stop a person from becoming a crack shot IRL? I think not. So I shall remain a CL55 hybrid, doing my best to get the devs to see that an Ent doesn't have to be ruled out of enjoying every aspect of the game if he/she chooses. Not being able to buff ourselves is quite simply ludicrous.

This is the whole problem with their "templating" crap. It's sucked the fun out of mixing and matching professions, because anything that doesn't get you to level 80 kills your effectiveness. I remember when you could be a master TKA/* and be entirely self-sufficient and fully capable in combat, equal to any other master combat with any other set of skills (though not having */Doc was always less efficient than having it, LOL). Now to do what the old TKA/* did, you have to be TKA/Swordsman (indeed they even stuck TKA's best animations in the swordsman class). If you just do TKA you can't do crap for damage and you get only half the specials you once had. Heck it's not even that you have to dual-combat class either, because a TKA/Swordsman will be infinitely more effective overall, than say a TKA/rifleman. Even the melee and ranged combat classes don't stack well. The idea is if you want a fully effective combat character, you can ONLY do combat now, and you'd better spend all your skill points in those areas. And that is antithetical to how they originally built the game, which allowed lots of multi-classing and lots of effectiveness.
At this point they should just get rid of the skill system, IMO. It's vestigial. Just make it like D&D, where you pick a maximum of 3 total classes, and you can only get to, e.g., 40th level in a given class, so you dual class to get to level 80. Give skills out with each level, and have done with it. It'd be more consistent with their actual policy on what is and is not encouraged in terms of character design.
