Some have thought it felt as if SWG was taking a turn away from a social MMORPG to a multiplayer adventure game. Well now we know for certain that this is the case. Read http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=PT0446&title=star_wars_galaxies" target=_blank>
here.
Now all of a sudden the content of the CU makes a lot more sense to me. They have all but come out and said my money was not good enough.

Yes they did.
However it should be pointed out that the EQ they released on the Playstation, is not the same EQ that is available for the PC. It is a different game, set in a different time period, and not compatible with the PC versions.
However, this SWG for PS2 looks like it will be compatible with the PC version we all currently play.

FYI, Thunder posted concerning this in an obscure TC conversion thread saying it was most likely an old webpage with a new date
Looks like its more of a hoax than ever...

Why old webpage with a new date? It is a playstation 2 version... As far as I know SWG is not available for playstation 2 yet.

Interesting... Forever ago it was supposed to come out for Xbox which I could understand due to the Xboxs built in online adapters and harddrive... but really didn't make much since as SOE was doing SWG I couldn't figure out why the PS2 wasn't getting it... I guess this would explain why it never came out for the Xbox.

I decided to go to the source (at least one of them) and contacted GamePlay in the UK. I was informed moments ago (1:03 PM CST -6 GMT) by a CSR at GamePlay that the listing for SWG for the PS2 is current and valid.
My understanding is that GamePlay has a solid reputation and is presumed to be large enough of an outlet that if the PS2 version of SWG has been cancelled they should know about it. I do not know this about GamePlay first hand, perhaps someone in the UK could comment.

before everyones panties all get in a bunch, has anyone gone to the greatest source of videogames in the universe, ign.com? i just did, SWG for PS2 has circled the bowl and has been completely been flushed away, if you don't believe me, here's the clicky with proof. besides, there are a lot of reasons sony wouldn't release SWG for PS2. hardware issues, like the PS2 would be capable of handling it? it'd drop connections like hanging out by the blue frogs on TC. the PS2 harddrive has been shown no love since final fantasy 11, there have been no other games that make use of that peripherial.if you notice in that ad it says it's memory card compatable, uh-huh, i wish i could compress the nearly 4 gigs of space this game is taking up on my harddrive onto a itsy bitsy 8MB memory card. and really, it's waaaay too late in the PS2's lifespan for a game like this. Xbox2 will be out by the end of the year, the PS3 won't be too far behind it, and would likely be built a little better to handle the stresses of an MMO. SWG on PS2 = bad move, SWG on PS3 = not as bad move.

Personally I've never heard of "gameplay". We have "game" and "play" as two major game shippers though.
play lists only the PC verison, and an august confirmed release date in april strikes me as a little odd, normally UK games are listed by quarter prior to release.
Also unless my maths is off you got a business reply to a queery at 7pm in the evening, that's even more unlikely.

Don't mind me...fun with fonts...and a little emphasis.

E3 is May 17th-20th (2005)

I'd like to point out that this is being discussed in the Smuggler Forums as well ... SEE HERE..
Some have pointed out there too that, that Advertisement is probably a fake and they have good information to back it up... such as the fact that it has been around for a couple years and its Date keeps changing.
Keep in mind also that... by the end of the year this year. The new Xbox2 will be out with the upcoming Ps3 close behind it. Why would SOE release this game on the Ps2 then, a system that can't even handle the game due to the system requirments?

This is precisely why we need to try to keep things in perspective. Our place in this game already has enough gray to dark areas without manufacturing (yes, pun intended) more.
