Thread: Combining Music & Dance Buffs Change in System?

I get buffs from my friend who is master dancer and master musician. She set up a macro in which:

-- She dances for a minute and I "watch" her

-- She then plays music for a minute and I "listen" to her

-- She then dances again and /setperform on me and then dances for 9 minutes

-- She then plays music again and /setperform on me and then plays music for 9 minutes

-- She stops playing music and dancing

-- I leave cantina to go hunting

-- Whenever I get to my hunting destination, I then /stopwatch which also triggers /stoplisten so I get both dance and music buffs activated

This is what used to happen.

But lately, if I /stopwatch, it only activates dancer buff. It doesn't trigger the musician buff. If I /stoplisten as well, no musician buff appears. Alternately, if I /stoplisten first, I trigger a musician buff, but then cannot trigger my dancer buff.

What has happened and why? What should I do? As a rifleman with composite armor, I want both buffs in effect. I hate constantly using spice and food.

Since Patch 8.1 you cant be buffed in "parallel". This may
interfere with your usual way of getting buffed.

So you need do activate your first buff (dancer?) and then
get buffed for your second buff (musician?). And I am not sure
about the changing of buff type in between buff season, I more
go for "first the one buff, complete it all way, then the second".

Hey,

Im pretty new to buffing and have only just mastered dancer but I hang around Bestine with a few locals and have tried to combine buffs recently which they said would work but gave the same symptoms you describe. When I /setperf and she /setperf after the target had started to watch and listen only the first /stop triggered the corresponding buff and one had to be reapplied..

I thought it always worked like that, but like I said I only mastered and started doing buffs about a week or two ago. Just letting you know it aint just you and your buddies.

My thought is that it would be a lot easier to do the dancing one first and then the music one. I don't know about dance, but there is a great post called Patent Pending Fragpuppie buff in which you can setup a macro to buff in 3 min 15 secs. I would assume the dancer one would work the same.

Here is what happend, atleast what we think happened. Most of us like to call it "The Hidden Nerf". Patch 8 nerfed it so you could no longer do both a dancer AND a musician buff one at a time. You must do one, then stopwatch/stoplisten, THEN do the other by /startwatch/startlisten. Why they did this, noone knows. Why they ddint tell us they did this, again noone knows, but the almighty gods of SOE.Not sure if they will remidy this problem, or leave it as is. But thats what happened.

The Dancer Correspondent and I have reported this to the devs. I sure hope it's an unintended bug, not a planned stealth nerf. My theory is that the new 2-minute minimum for buffing has had an unintended consequence of disabling the simultaneous buff.

FWIW, I've also had trouble buffing if my droid is grouped with me and performing while I perform. I'm certain that one is unintended.

Anyway, I'll let you know if we learn anything about the simultaneous-buff problem. It's definitely a problem.

We have yet to receive a fix, explaination or reaction from the devs regarding the "bug" with duo buffs. While I can see them nerfing the delayed buff you describe (something I didn't even know existed until after this last patch) for whatever their own sense of fairplay might be,I do not understand why a dancer and a musician cannot buff another player at the same time anymore. The entertainer prof has been so nerfed this last patch. . . .

This has been rebugged by me, Jessi, and NewJedi. TH has turned them in again and is on the quest for answers.

Now this would be interesting....

Overheard in cantina:

George O'Dejungle(Master Scout): Hey, can anyone give me a set of doc buffs?

Lyvingstonne (Master Doctor): I would be happy to. Please take off all your clothes.

George: Excuse me?!?!?

Lyv: There's been a change, I need to give you a full examination first.

George: You're kidding me.

Lyv: It'll only take 3 minutes for the exam. Please type in /bendover and then /brace self and then I can start.

George: And then I can get the buffs?

Lyv: If everything works out perfectly, yes. Sometimes it doesn't work and we can't tell til afterwards. If it doesn't work,we'll start over. Are you ready?

George: Hmmmm.....Maybe I'll just ask a Master Chef if he's got anything.....

Any guesses on what kind of hollering we'd hear if this were the case?
