Thread: costume changes
drag each piece of clothing for a particular costume into a toolbar slot
create a macro to activate the given slots w/ the costume using the "/ui action toolbarSlot xx" command (xx = 00-11 = F1-F12). use "ui action toolbarPane xx" if needed
add a /dazzle or /spotlight command before the /ui commands in the macro
when you run the macro, it should do the /dazzle or whatever and your dancer instantaneously changes his/her outfit. it actually looks pretty cool
also there are a few dancers who dance around w/ sticks... you can make a macro to do a /spotlight and change the stick into something else
if you're really feeling creative you can turn a bunch of these into a routine for show. my char is male poplock and i have a macro where he starts dancing poplock, then changes into a tuskan raider w/ colored lights. he dances for a little bit then pulls a tuskan rifle out of the air, makes it disappear, then pulls it back out again... there's a /dazzle and the raider outfit turns into a fancy entertainer suit, the rifle turns into a slitherhorn.... you get the picture
Because of this forum, I was given the idea of using a smoke bomb to change clothes. It is very nice.
I have a toolbar just for that. I place /smokebomb in there. Then I have a lot of my one-piece outfits like full dresses in each button. I segregate my tops and my bottoms. So, F2 through F4 and their shifts will be dresses. F5 through F8 has my tops, and F9 through F12 has my bottoms.
I even have five buttons dedicated to my desert clothes. When I am ready to leave the cantina, I announce that I'm leaving. Then I do a final smoke bomb and quickly press shift F8 through F12. When the smoke clears, I have my desert gear and gun. Then I go hunting.
So, thanks forum members for that idea. I just wish I didn't have to wait so long to get Dancing Technique III.
Very creative, Asianguy! I prefer to use the smokebomb for clothing changes myself, but it's all good.
Some of the cautions one should observe when doing these changes during a performance:
1. Always have plenty of room in your inventory. You can't change clothes with a full inventory.
2. Be aware of which clothing takes which slot. Some robes take the back slot as do flesh wraps, etc. I have some items that actually fit over my hot pants/bustiers while others replace them. You don't want to press a hotkey and end up in your underwear ![]()
3. Realize that lag can throw your timing way off. Nothing is more embarrassing than hitting the smoke bomb and when it clears you're still not done changing.
I have 2 banks of keys full offlourish and /changedance commands. I wish there was a better way to change banks than CTRL~ ... to go from hotkey bank 2 to hotkey bank 1, you have to cycle all the way through all 6 banks to get back to 1.
I can be mistaken, i've done it by accident several times. I though doing "Ctr F#" gives you hotbank #.

darn it,.. need edit
also Crt~ gives you one hotbank infront, (from 1 --> 2)
Ctr 'tab' gives you one hotbank in back (from 1--> 6)

anyway the good thing about macros is that they can do a ton of commands in a split second. So by setting one up you can cast the visual effect and change your whole gear instantaneously. No need to worry about timing or hitting the wrong buttons or looking for the cntl key
I used to exclusively use smoke bomb for clothing changes as well, but then I found that, with good timing (and speed), changing clothes during spotlight is a lot of fun. You only have a split second, but the light "blinds" people enough toallow you to change fast.
And then you can grin all day knowing you just changed your clothes right in front of them, and they didn't see it.
I know what I will be doing tonite; I got hotkeys setup for my armor changing, but it never dawned on me to use it when dancing and changing costumes.
Thanks for the tip.

oooo I like it!
I am usually using /smokebomb when I change my clothes lately as I think it looks cool to be in my armor /startdance .. <waits for people to look at her> /smokebomb <double click new dress> smoke fades and I'm there in my full dancing glory. ![]()
All good ideas. I'm really not very good at macroing or the like, so I just make my costume changes when I'm resting.
