Thread: Petition For Longer Lasting Dancer/Music buffs and time to buff

As we all know Master Dancer /music is nothing you "normaly" can get rich on. Longer buffs (along the line of docs 3Hours 14 min) and a faster/easier way too buff would probably mean that more people would use Mind buffs in PvE. I see no reason why our buffs should last any shorter than doc buffs.
1 solution comes in mind. Give 1 of the artisan proffesions the ability too make holo disc. Then we can use that holo disc and record 2-3 min of dancing or 2-3 min of music and apply it as a doc buff pack. Thus making us more atractiv for the general marked.
Just my 5 cents anyway
As y'all know, I'd love to have the holodiscs. ![]()
Second, I'm also all for making our buffs last longer, but *only* if the longer lasting buffs can only be done by someone who is ATK.
I know a lot of people didn't like TH's idea for entertainer/audience interaction. But, part of it, I think was because he was only talking about BF wounds.
Now if that *same* process could instead be applied to buffing...or maybe a similar process, it doesn't have to be the exact same. But, if there was a way for an ATK player to give a 3 hour buff, then I'd be ecstatic. People would *always* choose a live player over a bot if given that option.
Some of my customers will watch the dance buff then /stopwatch.
Then they will get the music buff and end with /stoplisten.
Then do it again. Only this time they type /watch and /listen but never type /stopwatch or /stoplisten.
When the first buffs run out, they type /stopwatch and /stoplisten
Then they get another 2 hour buff.
There's your longer buff lol

Naish, is the "stored" buff still working? I've never tried it myself, but I'd heard it had become harder to do after one of the recent patches. I don't think it was ever intended to work that way.
I vaguely recall reading something from the devs recently expressing skepticism about holodiscs, at least for mind healing. I could be wrong; I'm suffering from jet lag at the moment.
In any case, I certainly support longer-lasting Dancer and Musician buffs. I'd like to see a 3- or even 4-hour buff -- but not one that can be tacked onto itself to make it 6 or 8 hours long.
It still works, though not exactly as he described it. If you run away you automatically stop listening or watching. You need the dancer or musician to actually stop playing or dancing. And, then you can walk away and do it later on after your first buff is over.

As for the holodiscs, are you suggesting we go into the privacy of our homes, record a bunch of discs, then go to the Coronet starport and stand beside the doctor that's always there and charge for buffs? "Line cutting, 50K!" No, that's ok, I'd rather dance for them in the cantina...even if they have to sit there for *gasp* 3 whole minutes.

No..
More like:While dancing in a quiet cantina waiting for another customer, you record a three minute dance onto a Holodisk. You may then sell that disk (if you wish) to an adventurer passing through, to use in a pinch, rather than leaving the hunt to run back to Coronet.
Ah, see, and that I'm 100% against. Do that and people will just buy disks off the bazaar or a vendor and never visit a cantina again. Why would anyone go into a crowded cantina when they can just buy a few buff holos off a vendor and use them as needed in the field?

This is how I envisioined it as well. On my downtime when I can't sell buffs for whatever reason, but I'm still in Coronet or Theed and I want to make some cash, I'd be recording these videos. I'd then make friends with a merchant and put them on his/her vendor or sell them individually to players passing through. There'd be no line cutting or anything like that.
And, while I might prefer to give live mind buffs on occasion, I will say again what I've said in other threads. That is, as a community, I don't think we should completely ignore the fact that mind buffs have always been difficult to find, even before the buffbots. And, I think we should be making concessions. Well, concessions might be a strong word because it sounds like we're giving in or being apologetic. I, of course, make no apologies or hold no sympathy for the whiners who "need" these buffs yet spit in our faces on a daily basis. However, I want to make sure that whatever decision the devs make regarding making mind buffs more available to people, that that decision directly affects the entertainer community in a *positive* way. If we continue to not agree to things like holodiscs (or whatever the case may be), my fear is that their going to start setting up NPC buffers, which don't help us at *all.*

You mean people don't like going to the cantina so you have to force them to do it?

Because they would presumably cost more. An artisan needs resources to make the disks and sells them to an entertainer so they can make a profit. We then would want to sell to the customer so that we can make a profit above and beyond what it took us to produce the disks. Therefore, a live entertainer, if available is cheaper and more attractive to the patron.
And, the thing is too, I also agree that we shouldn't be forcing people to go to Cantinas if they don't want to. Honestly, is it even any better right now when people run in and out to get healed and buffed? They don't want to be there, they're not contributing, their presence or lack thereof would in no way impact the Cantina. In fact, one could argue that this would overall make the Cantinas a pleasant place for only people that want to perform, and only people that want to be entertained.
There are various tools in this game for people to make contacts. The Cantinas have been tainted beyond belief and I'm honestly not sure how much of a social hub they are anymore. If you need something, you talk on guildchat or maybe you go to the starport and listen to the spam seeing who has what you need. I dunno, entertainers will always be in Cantinas because that's where you level. And, there's a significant portion of people, non entertainers who do want to go to the Cantinas and interact. I say let those people come and watch us. They're the ones who appreciate us anyway. Forcing people to go to the Cantinas hasn't really done anything to make this game better, IMO.
