I've got to figure out how to do the damn 3 minute macro buff, though...

Yes I have two characters in the mind buffs who were doing the 60 second mind buff macroing away, it was awesome, I was helping out my entire guild and another guild and any other passer by on a remote planet on LOK.

[ do i take business away from other dancers? no ] the holo-grinders are the real one whose did that by filling up the cantina, when the holo grind is removed in the next patch I'll take an attack on that.

So heh where is the macro for the 3 minute buffs?? but personally dev... I'm a master doctor and it takes 5 seconds to apply to each stat 30 second totaly, and doctors get alot of work because of that. I think there should be 1 minute to listen /watch a dancer/musician normally without being spamemd or hearing repeted 1 notes over and over =)

Shortly give the musicians and dancer the ability to buff a large group of people in a minute without using the horrid 60 second macro, sometimes people dont run off, its a time of conversation listening to some other musican other than battle music [ day - night music ] just my thought, why not given those two professions a break geez =)

The 2 minute cap currently functions as a minimum time but you do build during those 2 minutes, so the information in that thread above, should still work.

Really, in all honesty, who was it hurting? I have been a master dancer along time, and have a well established character. I no longer use the public cantinas in the cities due to all the AFK holo grinders, therefore while doing the 60 second mind buff i was not taking away from anyone. I used it primarily for my guild, buff when we were going on big raids.

Im also a master doctor, where i can take one person and buff all 6 stats in 30 seconds, why can't i have that pleasure as a dancer too?

Of all the things broken in this game, I love how you have decided to fix this!

Way to go SOE!!

Thank you so much. I have a few more questions..I am not master dancer although I can buff mind 80% thanks to my wonderful tailor and the exquiste leotard..(oh no i shouldnt have said that..they may take it away)..anyway I find the dancer forums much more useful..I am Master musician. will this work for music buffs also? It should correct? I was usingthe same speed buff for both music and dance buffs..The joy was that the macro had /startdance in it and wheni used it for music I ran out of action but the buff still worked ,I kept playing...thanks for the info

1) It was breaking the game by fooling the buff system. So it was an exploit, whether you felt the times should be less or not, its better to change the system than break the existing one.

2) You can buff all those stats in 30 seconds, but how much preparation goes into making those buff packs? Time, resource collection, experimenting, assembling. Sure, you might just buy your buff packs from another doctor, but someone had to take the time to make all those. We entertainers just burn some action.

So, for doctors, it is time/resources spent ahead of time for quick buffs in the present. For entertainers its extra time spent buffing but having no preparation costs at all. Its a fair and balanced system.

3) It just makes sense from a role play point of view.

Finally, seriously, you can fully buff someone at master level in 3 minutes and 10 seconds. and additional 2 minutes and 40 seconds wait time on a buff is not that big of a deal, and it is what your average entertainer who didn't use the exploit was using before the change anyway(3 to 5 minutes to buff). It is less time than a shuttle wait.

Yes, I'm sure a lot of people thought 30 seconds was fantastic, but I seriously think people are making way to big of a deal over an additional two and a half minutes.

The 3:10 buff works exactly the same for musicians. In fact, I think it was musicians who first worked that out way back when since they naturally tend to flourish faster anyway

if you dont want to buff quickly cuz your a roleplayer dont buff quiqly i however am not a roleplayer and i dont appreciate beinf forced to have buisness taken away from me because that extra 2 minutes is more customoers saying screw it abd taking brandy instead.

ok I figured it out.. the three minute buff that Utess referred to works great for both dance and music. I think this is a happy medium for all those involved. It gives those of us who do not wish to roleplay for 10 minutes a good chance at making customers happy and noone has to see the spam of the speed buff .(it will be missed) And like stated above, if you dont want to use it dont..but there should be a choice for rp and non rp. Theres nothing wrong with either choice, but how many times, after you tell someone the buff will take ten minutes they say ok..I m going to go get something to eat..then they go afk..doesnt give anyone a chance to socialize..

Now if they will just get all this Image design straightened out I will be a happy camper again.

Thanks for the help

Not being able to buff in 30sec made me mad, i worked my way up throught dancer, afk like 1 time out of 10, and now i'm stuck waiting 10 minutes again.... but atleast i can buff 19 ppl ata time, and plus i just seenmyhubby'stitle as 'Swashbuckler' so that cheered me up

Anyway, I only read the first post, just wanted to say good luck on finding a way to do it in 3 minutes.

Finally a message thread that seems to be realistic! This profession is in danger and if the devs keep doing these sort of changes i fear it will be eliminated, and only those that dance/play just for a social purpose will remain. In the true roleplaying sense as so many refer to, we shouldn't just be non-valued robots who chat to people. That is what chat rooms are for. I feel our purpose has been hurt by afk-ers and over use of macro-spammers.

Also as for the point about preparation that docs do to make thier buff packs, don't we also have to prepare? With stims/action buffs/food etc? We have to pay 10K for a buff to buff someone else. Also any good dancer prepares routines and changes them, they don't just have one macro they use forever. I'd hope that the 'role-players' acknowledge entertainers preparation also.

Sorry Ekido, but this is a completely invalid arguement to make in favor of the 30sec buff.

Remember the FanShot bug? Pistoleers were going to the Geonosian caves, killing mulitiple very tough creatures in no time with little effort, racking up great amounts of XP. Who was it hurting, honestly?

Sorry, that's not the way it works. It was an exploit. It was something that wasn't working as intended, period. Same as the 30sec buff. Musicians and Dancers have the ability to buff their respective mind stats AT NOT MATERIAL COST! This is what makes it different from Doc buffs. You being both a Doc and Dancer need to buy your doc buffs, so there's a cost. Dancers don't need to to anything but dance. There had to be a price, and it's time.

Should the time be reduced? Maybe, and knowing SOE it probably will. They always bow down to what the majority of the players want regardless of whether it's right or not. But in my opinion dealing with the 30sec buff was the right thing to do.
