Answers at least two questions:
Who are these buffs for? Combatants
What is being done about buff bots? Nothing

Basically they are saying that inspiration buffing is the replacement for wound healing rather than the replacement for mind buffs.
They say that some later day in the future when entertainers rule the world, oppress the combat professions and cause a combat player from the early days who gets magically transported there from the past to exclaim, "Get your damn dirty entertainer hands off of me!" buffs will be replaced by some undeveloped amazing active ATK ability.

2. 10% doesn’t seem like much of a bonus, shouldn’t we get something more substantial?
You’re right, 10% is not a major buff. It was meant to be that way. This is your foundational, most basic ability. The idea is that performers with sufficient skill and involving sufficient participation by the player be able to grant better, more desired buffs and bonuses than these.
What I read here is that EVERYONE will be able to give this basic buff. It looks like ATK players will eventually get an upgrade that will be BETTER than the buffbots. Perhaps this is where the negotiation for a tip will come in? Perhaps we will have to /setperform the better buff?

It's good that a dev followed up on this today. Their In Concept document was poorly worded. They state that the inspiration "buff" will replace mind buffing, but that's not really the case. It's more a replacement for mind wound healing. In that sense it's easier to accept that all levels of entertainer can do it, especially IF there are going to be other buffs in the elite professions that DO offer a replacement for mind buffs.

Stop and remember that Novices need "skills" thatare just as desirable and marketable as Masters have. The Inspiration Buff will be similar to mind wound and BF healing in that any entertainer can do it, masters just do it faster. (Gawd, that sounds like a bumper sticker)
Any player who wants an Inspiration buff can still walk right past the novice and head straight for the master to get it. Just like they do now. Novices despair of getting even xp, forget tips, if a master walks into the cantina.
But unlike Mind Buffs, clients can getthisfrom a novice and it can be just as good and just as long. The client will not be required to find a master to give this buff. Novices will have a viable service to offer.
And a reason to have far-flung and little used cantinas staffed again! With novices! They could staff the cantinas where novice crafters and combat newbies are leveling. Player cities near POIs. Provide services to those who can't afford the credits or the time to pop over to the CNet and MO Buff and Go.
And later, after the CU... Novice to Master... there will be more. And Masters will have their own skill sets. Making them still viable and set apart from what Novices can offer.
Sounds good to me.

Yeah, I have to say, if the inspiration buffs are meant to be more a replacement for wound healing rather than mind buffing, and we're going to get some other marketable things after the CU is done, I'm a lot more okay with this whole thing.
I still wish it wasn't totally passive though.

Well, I have a few chars working on Entertainer, at varying levels. One almost master, a couple at master entertainer, and a couple barely above novice entertainer. I am trying to look at it from the bottom and the top. The bottom is pretty bleak. Inspiration buffs will be a feasible way to compete on a more level playing field. And I think "level playing field" is a large part of what the CU is about.

While I appreciate that we've finally received some additional information, I do have this one *tiny* beef with this:
Why do we NOW get the ability to buff ourselves???
It would seem the coding ability has been there all along, yet we've been denied the simple benefit of our own services.
This may seem like an odd concern for the "sole" entertainers, but for those of us who have been driven to other pursuits in order to support our clothing/accessory habits, I can't tell you how much I would have appreciated (and still would!) being able to buff my own noggin when a live entertainer could not be found.
Just another ha'penny's worth of thought.
