Thread: Would you buy one of these?

It is still an early look, but here is our goal for Droid Modules:

Entertainer module: Entertainers would get a certification so that only they could use this droid (no combat functionality is added so its different that the combat certs). This module would allow an entertainer to queue one of 10 different new effects (smoke, lighting, etc.) The advantage is that the droid won't consume entertainers HAM (just batteries). Each module will represent a different effect. So with 10 different effects, there will be 10 Entertainer modules which means the higher level droids with more module slots will be more useful for queuing different effects.

I have mixed feeling about these upcoming droids in Publish 8. I was wondering how other entertainers feel about purchasing one of these droids. Will they enhance our entertainment experience or cause the city cantinas to be spammed with lightshows and smoke?

it would be hard to tell. when they first come out they will be a pretty big thing, thent he novelty of it will die fast, and the odd entertainer would be using it every so often, that's what i figure anyways

If the effects are nice, I'd probably use one.

Depends on whether or not there's any substance behind all the flash. Ie, what does it do for us other than create effects... a number of which we can do without it.

For pure gaming purposes it's a resounding no!
For role playing purposes, maybe!

Give me a droid which helps refresh me (Game mechanics - lowering my action cost and increasing my action regen whilst performing) would be much more useful. Yes it's like a mini doc buff but certainly no way as potent as a doc buff. Just means I can perform a little longer before needing a rest or breather.

Greetings,

Proabably not. Especially if it is one effect per module, that seems a little tight fisted. If I could combine it with storage you bet. Buying a high level droid just for lights just isn't on my priority 'want to buy' list.

They had better be some awesome effects!

It's a new gadget and I will try to get hold of one on patch day. But I don't think it will be useful beyond the "oooooh"-effect.

No, Iwill not buy one. I probably wouldn't even use it if someone gave one to me. Its pretty much useless in my eyes. Patrons seem to tire of 'light effects' after the first dozen or so (you can tell by the gripes of "ow, my eyes" that start popping up).

We wanted bugged dances fixed and falls stopped for masters and more flos and several other things. But the devs don't listen. So they want to help our HAM?Retool it fromour profession platform, then. Lower the HAM from the base - and across the board - instead.

We never asked for a droid. If we had it would have been useful. It would have beensimilar toa med droid thatwould allowus to heal and do buffs on command instead of restricting us to cantinas, campsand houses (including BF). It would have given us special 'sound effects' to enhance our dances and songs, at the very least. It would most certainly have had an additionalstorage module in it that wouldn't affect our inventory. It might have even had a long, slender arm that could deliver a mild but attention getting electrical charge to those patrons who are less than polite when addressing a lady.

But it certainly wouldn't have just given us "kewl" lights . . . gag . . .

I will probably try one out to see what its like. But im worried that there are going to be alot of droids cluttering up the cantinas. Can you imagine the theed cantina with 20 afk dancers and their droids as well I am also curious if having all these droids cluttering up the cantinas will add to the lag.

Pshh, no, This is kind of useless really. People don't like too much flash, so I usually have enough action for the number of effects I want to throw off.
