I have a stupid question. It is off topic for this particular forum, I know, but I've got good odds of getting absolutely nothing constructive if I tried to post them on my own server boards.

In the event that a particular forum/group of people/profession/etc.does not have a correspondent, what is the approved method of contacting the higher-ups so that one doesn't go over someone's head, or upset the wrong people?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That's why we have the Blue Glowies (even now that they don't have access to the forum, they still have many channels of communication open to them).

I didn't want to be horribly off topic, so I left it somewhat open so I could at least pretend I was somewhat on track for the forums.

Maybe I should 'splain.

I frequent the RP forums. Someone raised the question there of why there is no Roleplayers Correspondent. After all, there is a GCW correspondent. This is an mmoRPg. Someone ought to at least attempt to pretend there is representation for this group of people, which is a lot bigger than many suspect.

But there isn't. So I decided I wanted to set about at least trying to find out who I could raise this concern to. I just don't know who to contact -- and since there never -was- a Corr, there aren't any RP Blue Glowies.

I cross-posted this in the Community Relations forums, too, but I wasn't expecting a big response there. I tossed one here because we tend to be a lot more personable and helpful here.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Smacks on the head with a sock full of quarters?

I'd say send a PM to Tiggs or Thunderheart saying why you should have one. Just asking for one probably won't do it, but giving reasons why might have some effect.

Cancelled 7/27/05 - I joined to play Star Wars, not Jedi-BH Wars. You've ignored/gutted/abused just about every other profession in the game, while spending most of your time working on Jedi and BH as they related to Jedi. You've basically killed the game for anyone who doesn't want the glowstick. Congratulations.

I've not run across this questions before. Just speculating, but I would suspect that it has something to do with RP being a playstyle and not a system with game mechanics. However, I could see where good input could come from such a community representative. I'm at work right now and will be until late today but I'll ask about this after I get home.

in the case of "there's no corr for the profession *for now*", usually some other corrs would help cover the profession for a while. I've covered for other corrs before, and I've also asked others to cover my forum while I'm on vacation.

as for something like RP, I agree with what Eshie said about a playstyle vs an in game mechanic or profession. the best person to go to for general gameplay concerns would probably be the SW correspondent, in the core systems forum under professions (currently is kstarfire, and he's a great guy

)

p.s.: what I said is by no means official, but that's usually what happens.

The RP Corr spot used to be asked for in the RP forum a lot and I know a few corrs used to ask about it in the corr forum every once in a while. If I remember correctly, the reason always given for why there wasn't an RP corr and why they didn't make one was just because they thought we already had too many corrs.

That's why the pilots just got one. That's why GCW has stayed at one position rather than two. Blah blah.

... it seems to me like RP would have a lot more direct concerns than Core Systems/Star Wars though and with the super awesome grand daddy corr KStarfire retiring soon, it might be a good time to ask for a corr title conversion. I don't think Tiggs will want to make a new corr spot, but she might be willing to consider turning an old position into a new one that makes more sense.

(I would maybe write KStarfire and see if you can get his backing on this too if you want to take this approach...)
