Thread: Thanking people for tips and heals
Hiyas-
I've noticed that many of you are like me and want to be sure you thank the person tipping/healing you but are frustrated because the message gets lost in the other messages on your screen. Personally in my opinionnot thanking someone for a tip/heal is just rude. Here are some steps I've done which have helped me immensely. I also know from experience people like to be thanked and remember those that both thank you and don't thank you.
#1 Move system messages into a seperate window. This is where tips, heals, experience messages appear. To do this click on a tab on your chat interface a drop down menu will appear you and then ADD a tab, then modify that tab so that system messages will appear in it. Remove system messages from your other tabs. Then move this new "chat channel" to a seperate spot on your screen, I've resized my chat and have it in the lower right corner of my screen.
#2 Change certain keywords to a vivid color, thus making them stand out from other system messages. I put "tips" and "bank tip" in orange. I also changed phrases regarding dancing experience and healing experience in grey this makes them "fade" and therefore the other messages stand out. Heals I've designated as red. To do this you open up your chat control Control + O, click on chat and modify as stated above.
Hope this helps ya'll as much as it did me.

Go into your options panel and go to Chat colors
type the word tip in the New Text Colorization bar, click a color, press add new word or sentence and voila, anytime that word is said, it is colored.
I changed it so that the entire sentence containing "tips you" or "bank credits" was in neon pink. Never missed it again. ![]()
And I did the same to change sentences with "dancing experience" or "healing experience" to grey. It really does help make everything else stand out better.
I also changed my name to purple, so if someone called me by name I wouldn't miss it.
Ipractice all of the above ideas, but as a dancer/musician, the biggest problem I find with thanking people for tips is that as soon as they tip they run out of the cantina. It takes me at least 5 seconds for my typing finger to frenziedlytype "Thanks for the tip" as they're racing for the door,so by the time I send the messagethey may miss my thanks and assume I didn't thank them. Then I'm afraid of sending a tell in case they DID hear it, and assume I'm wanting more. I could simply /tell them the first time, but that wouldn't get the message out to the non-tippers that tipping is happening.
This is brilliant advice! Thank you! I've been embarrassed once or twice because I received this wonderful tip and it became lost in messages and my own chatting! How rude I felt! It was late but I noticed one of them and gave a belated but grateful thanks. Absolutely thanks are appropriate. Dancing is one of the most friendly, social things you can do in SWG--it's only appropriate!

Just a quick clarification...it's bank credits as Sinda stated
I was typing this from memory and a caffine starved brain this morning. Thanks for the correction Sinda

Echoing what Calyndra said. Personally, I put both "tip" and "bank credits" in neon pink, so I can see when someone tips me from their bank as well.
It's been proposed in one of our "issues" lists that we be given a pop-up window whenever someone tips us. This would prevent AFK Macroers from earning tips because they can't click the window, and it would remove the problem of us not seeing the messages in heavy spam. I don't ever remember getting so many tips in an evening that I couldn't take the time to type out a thank you /tell personally to each tipper, so I don't think this would create problems. In fact, it would be kind of cool to be able to add a "thank you" message of our own wording to it, like we do changing our AFK message.
