Hi there..

I am not a Dancer or a Musician but I think you guys and gals are AWESOME!!!

But I find it a shame that you sometimes get nothing more than an action heal and a thanks for your services. I mean you are as important as doctors, IMHO, due to the fact that you can't be healed or fight as effectivelyif BF is too high. If I get at least 150 BF taken care of, I usually tip 1k..

400-500 I tip 4k to each person I watch or listen to..

Option 1.. Group Cover charge.. Just like a merchants house, anyone wanting to get BF healed would get a message when they try to listen or watch along the lines of "You enjoy the music / choreography but must pay a cover charge of 2k for 5 min of healing.. It usually doesn't take that long to get rid of BF unless dancer / musician is low level then price needs to be adjusted. Cover Charge is decided upon by the leader.

Option 2 (In tandem with Option 1).. If you get a group, (at least 5 total and one of these has to be a Musician) You can put together a "Troupe" of Street performers that can heal BF in public.. Cover Charge applies..

Just an idea to get you paid..

I'd really like that since I almost never get tipped for regular heals, and buffs aren't much better on average. Still it's more than enough money to get by, and if your system or something similar were ever implemented then I would likely become very wealthy .

I thought ensuring tips was the whole point of /denyservice. In theory, you can /deny everyone who walks into the room, and then tell them, "I will un-deny you when you pay me." Of course we could debate the wisdom of doing something like that, but the possiblity is still there. Or the dancer could just sit down and refuse to dance unless paid.

Personally I have never done any of those things and I usually get tipped anyway, when I still bother to dance (which, generally, is now only during Hyperdrive gigs or privately for my guild-mates, becuase of how unpleasant the public cantinas have become).

If i knew that someone was actually AT the keyboard, dancing away, then i'd give you a tip.....a good tip.....

However, nowadays, all you get are AFKer's and people could argue that since you got healing for someone not even there, how would they know they healed you...

I miss the days where cantinas were just a place where you could stop by, have a seat, a friendly chat, heal, and tip--> off you go...

Now, its just packed with dancers, spamming the same old macro'ed message of "Plz don't forget to heal me...thx!"..

Regarding the troup idea...

I think this could be expanded into something much more.. wonderful..

What if....

Master Musicians and Dancers could buff a group, while in a group?

Imagine sitting in a theater (not cantina, thats where novices practise ), in a ent group of masters. People who are acutally there ready to perform. You don't play constantly (or you can practise) you wait for a group to approach for a buff.

iI the devs made it a ratio (# of masters in ENT group to group being buffed) i think it'd work well.A one to one (o maybe one ent per 2 group members) would get 100% or regular (max) buff.

It kinda makes sense too. It think that Ent buffs are very overlooked. I was a Moun abuser until I found a guy who did musician buffs regularly. The only reason I didn't look for a dancer buff was I had already migrated my stats to mind to compensate for my comp armor! I'd gladly move them back to get a group buff.

If you could band together to do a group buff to another group, not only would master dancer / musicians be more sought out, but you could ask for a "cover charge" per head or something. People would be looking for your services more often, as they would be concentrated and take 1/2 the time (get 2 buffs at once)

devs - add a command like /setp such that it's like /setpg for the group leader of the Ents. That way they can control when they want to buff.

with some more thought, such as decent ratio for Dancer / musician to get ful effect of each, i think this idea would get a positive response from the WHOLE community.

FYI my first holo was dancer. I DID AFK about 1/3 of it (while sleeping). The rest of the time I was their managing the entertainer groups in the cantina as group leaderand keeping everyone together. I actually rather enjoyed it, socialized with everyone in the group a lot, and MAXED OUT my AP by helping other Ents train.

All in all I like the way entertainers are put in this game, but their is potential for a lot more I think.

If you don't want to tip a dancer whose afk then just look for one who isn't, if there is that choice. Sometimes there isn't on planets like Dath. I can understand you not wanting to tip someone who isn't there but remember that sometimes that person went afk because their kid in RL woke up crying from a bad dream etc. That can take a few minutes to resolve as many other issues that come up unexpectedly. I wouldn't make someone tip me. I can make a bit of money through buffing andI have some combat skills so I can go and do missions. My husband's character is wealthy so I'm kind of a "kept woman" if you will. I don't really need the money. You can always send a tell asking if they are there. If you don't get a response then don't tip, if you don't want. I'm not sure if I like the idea. The whole idea of a tip is something extra to show appreciation. I think novices need that more because masters can make money doing the buffs.

Hhhhmmmm. Maybe it's not a bad idea. I've been thinking for a couple minutes. I don't really need the money but lots of entertainers do. Maybe not 2k, though. Maybe just a cover charge of a hundred or two. A message would come up saying that the fee is for that group and the income would be split amongst the members. If you charge too much there wold be a definite rebellion. Sometimes people don't have money in the thousands to spend like that, especially if you get healed often. If you're in a busy cantina though, it might pay ok. If you're by yourself, you could have the choice of charging that fee or not. I don't think the fee should be the main source of income.

Hhhhmmm. Food for thought.

I find that a wave, a smile or a welcome lets people now I'm not afk. Most people will them watch me, probably because it's obvious I'm not AFK. This usually results in a tip of anything between 500 and 5k credits. If you let them know you're at your PC they will most likely tip you.

I've been debating something similar to this myself. It's not that I personally need the money, but I do have a house and a cantina to maintain now.

When I dance atmy playercantina (/startShamelessPlug XanaduCantina in Honor's Keep, Corellia, Lowca /endShamelessPlug )sometimes I don't get tips. But I have the option to set a fee to those who want to enter, just like a cover charge.

I've been wondering how 'insulting' this would be to people who just want to stop in and not get healing. Plus, how much would I charge? 2k may be too much, but how much is enough...

Thoughts?

You can not /deny service without telling the person. Well, YOU can go ahead and not tell them, but they will get a system message that says you've denied them service.

Hmm, Mattius, you mean one group of Musicians could buff another group of fighters, without melding the two groups? That's an interesting idea. As I'm sure you're aware, though, one Musician can already buff an entire group as long as the others group with the Musician. Thus a solo Musician could easily "outbid" a grouped band of Musicians in a bidding war for buff tips, since the solo Musician doesn't have to tip but can still confer the full buff pretty fast. I guess you could get around this by providing (as you seem to imply) that the grouped band would confer a better buff. Is that what you mean?

I'll make this a quick post....I like the idea of setting a rate for your services insome sort ofmenu. If you are a Master, you can charge a little more forservices because of the expediencyof healing. Entertainer groups should share tips based on the person being watched or listened too. AFK'ers should not receiveany portion of group tip but, still get the regular, old XP.

Let me know what you think...good or bad .

If there's an AFK dancer in a cantina and a dancer who I can tell is actually THERE.. I only listen to the AFKer. That way I don't have to pay. You're kidding yourself if you don't think that 95% of the people out there do that.. It saves a few bucks.

Personally I tip whether they are AFK or not.. I would rather have a live person at the keyboard but afk'ers heal as well..

If they get rid of my battle fatigue then I pay them.. Period..

Battle fatigue messes up buffs and makes healing loooong and tedious...

I don't mind afk'ers for one reason.. Every once and a while I will go into the Cantina and cannot find one live person and if it was like the medics, in regards to healing, then I would be out of luck till someone logged on and started dancing/playing.

So remember, when it comes to afk'ers... They still heal even if they aren't there.... Docs have to be at their keyboard to take care of you..

Also this is how I tip...

1-150 BF tip 1000 to each that I watch/listen

150-300 BF= 2000 each

300-600= 4000-5000 each

To me, its worth it considering doctors are trying to sell 1600-1800 buffs for 10k-12k.
