I liked the dancing itself and the sense of community that developed in my starting cantina. It was almost like living in a commune or something. There were the regular entertainers and the regular patrons, all of whom developed a repertoire with one another. It was great fun. In the beginning, there weren't any masters to teach anyone else, so we would all pool our tip or mission money so that one of us could buy skills from a trainer and then teach the rest of us. We'd occasionally choreograph things, though that was a bit difficult (and I image that it remains so) due to the different capabilities of the various performers.

It was neat having familiar faces come in, whether they were performers or patrons. It was great fun buying new outfits. Eventually, though, dancers began to get labeled "strippers" and the sexual commentsproved to be too much for me, soI retired my character. I really loved my dancer in the opening weeks, though. It wasa really wonderful experience. At firstit seemed like only the beta testers realized how important entertainers were, because most of our patrons at that point were from beta. They were always really polite and helpful, and they made a point to tip the best they could (always welcome, but never expected). I'm not sure why the regular population seemed so much worse than the beta testers when they finally started appearing, but that's the way it went in our particular cantina on our particular galaxy. I don't regret leaving the profession when I did, but I'm certainly glad I was able to participate in it at the beginning. It was really a joy for me.

I like the dancing itself. I always had this secret wish that I could dance in real life, and playing the dancer character really caters to that for me. I love watching it, and I really enjoy trying to make my dancing look good even when I'm just dancing in a public cantina to SW1.

I enjoy the camaraderie between the entertainers who all started on Talus in Dearic. We were the regulars, we constantly chatted in our group chat and even though we've all moved from there we still keep in touch. A lot of the regular customers still remember me and we say hi and wave when we cross paths again.

I've enjoyed meeting new 'regulars' and dancing in a more populous cantina. I had the most fun in my last dance tech box for master. It was then that I finally just decided to stop dancing exotic all the time for the best exp and dance whatever would look good with the music. I did so much lyrical, popular and poplock for the last box lol

The current state of the cantina I dance in is pretty deplorable. The latest trend is to have a macro which says what your biggest tip of the day was and ask for someone to try beat it. Half the entertainers will be afk at any given time. But I still enjoy going in there to dance because the customers let me know that they appreciate the fact that I'm always at the keys, and always trying to give them a good show.

People may get under my skin but they will never, ever kill my love for dancing.

I am still a dancing entertainer and not yet a "dancer" by profession, but that's my PC's specialty. I dabbled in music for a while but I eventually gravitated to dancing. Here are the reasons I like the dancing best:

1. Socializing and RPing. You can do it with music but when you are hooting on a fizz it is not very in-character to hold long conversations. Dancers, on the other hand, have their mouths free for all the chat you want. :-)

2. Avatar animations. These are awesome. I really like watching my dancer go through the various flourishes. The dance animations for avatars are without question the best animations in the game.

3. Camaraderie. Entertainers seem to be one of the more closely knit groups on the game. I like that.

I love that many of the entertainers and folks who hang out with them are roleplayers. There's one player in particular that I adore, because his roleplaying style is just terrific but my character is too shy to approach him. LOL

I'm going to answer this question a bit differently and say that the things I do NOT like about dancing in SWG are the same things that made me "retire" from a brief stint as a dancer IRL (I do still dance, just another form now that requires less interaction with the audience).

I don't like men who think I want to give up my dancing to walk out the cantina door with them into some promised world of never having to dance in a public cantina again. I LIKE dancing for the public. I may be a slave, but dancing is a reward to me that brings the only kind freedom I have ever craved. I don't want to run away with you so I never have to dance again, or only have to dance for your eyes only.

I don't like men who give random gifts instead of cash tips. While a gift is better than no tangible gratiuty at all, cash is much more useful for me. I can use it for travel expenses between cantinas, for new outfits, which I desperately need, as well as general living expenses (beyond the basic needs, which my owner provides). An welcome exception would be a gift that a patron bought or crafted just for me, or something that he overheard me saying that I wanted. These thoughtful types of gifts are better than cash. Anything else, puts me into the position of deciding to keep the item because it was a gift, or selling it for credits rather than letting it get dust in my safety deposit box.

I don't like men who lick, drool, hang their tongue out at me, or try to grab and kiss me on the lips. It's just rude to make such physical advances without an invitation, and please keep your bodily fluids to yourself, thank you.

I don't like men who get upset if I lapse in the flow of conversation between us (in /tells) or try to make me feel guilty by saying "I'm sorry, I know you are busy -I will let you get back to work now." Part of the job is conversation, but you are not always the only person I am speaking to. I will not deliberately ignore someone who sends me a private message, but there is a certain amount of chat lag, which makes carrying multiple private conversations a bit challenging. Be patient. If it seems I am distracted, don't point that out, just try talking to me again later on.

I don't like the expectation put upon me after a dance or two, or a nice tip or two to meet with men outside of the cantina. If you are not in my master's PA or just happen to see me about the galaxy on errands, chances are the only place that you will ever see me is in the cantina. If you want a friendship to form that goes beyond that, then you will have to wait patiently for one to grow out of trust and respect. I love to dance for regular patrons who come specificlyto see me in the cantina, but I am uncomfortable being asked out on "dates" by someone who has seen only this side of my life.

Dancing allows the social butterfly side of my personality slip in. When hunting even in groups talk is rare you're on the move and focused on the hunt, but in the cantina everyone's relaxing and has a few minutes to just sit and chat. Since I'm not the type of game player that would just sit around in the cantina for long without doing something dance is a way for me to be social and still be active in game.

I also like dance better than musician because there's more ability to do your own thing. When playing music the group has to work together on the same song, but with dance if I decide I want to dance popular just for fun I can and it doesn't effect anyone else.

I like that dancer is a social profession. I did think originally that it would be cantina patronsI would socialize with, but it really is largely other enterainers. Sure there are social patrons, and they make playing particularly enjoyable when you are around. But most of my closest friends in game are other entertainers. I looked down my friends list yesterday and 3/4 were other entertainers or their friends. A lot of the rest were tailors. As a group, entertainers are the nicest people I have encountered in game. I would spend most of my time dancing in Cantinas (even with that minority of problemplayers who want to use cantinas as their preferredplace to spread grief) except that as a practical matter you cannot.

Hmm.. boy. I'd have to say I enjoy the social aspect of it a lot. I've made a lot of great friends and enjoy bsing with them. Originally and still tho my main reason was I enjoyed entertaining people.. trying to get a laugh. I love dancing and music in general tho. Its all about having fun and I love the dances, Lyrical2 being my favorite. I love playing music too on the rare occasion I can play Ceremonial or higher. The dancing is really beautiful and so is some of the music, all in all its just a great way to pass some time.

What do I like about beinga dancer? I like all of it, I love the roleplay, I love to dance, and I love to socialize with others. Patrons and entertainers alike. Like a previous poster said, it brings out the social butterfly in me. Also, you get to see such a wide varitey of people that there can never be a dull moment.

In my quest to hone my combat skills I have contemplated giving up dancing but I just can't do it. I love it too much and I think alot of my regulars would be disappointed

Yes there are a few patrons that get overly friendly but most of them are wonderful.

- The rateI can heal people is extremely valuable to reduce their downtime.

- Increase in tips since I hit Master

- Performing Exotic4 and hearing customers exclaim "Wow"

- Conversations and just plain silliness with customers and fellow entertainers.

The way my toon twirls his rifle when he dances formal2.

The way the game actually tracks where your feet land so that you can move around the room and change the appearance of a dance by rotating into or against the turn programmed into the flourish.

Being able to boogie with the babes in bikini's at a beach party. (Off-topic: after attending Sleed and Sereena's party on Saturday, I have to say that every outdoor party should be catered by a high-level ranger, preferably at "night".)

Getting tipped despite the twin handicap of being neither female nor Twilek.
