....If all of your friends could dance? ...If you could access all combat content and continue to perform? ...If the skill point cost disappeared for Entertainer professions? ...If I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me?

My answer: I'd throw the biggest damn party you've ever seen! Hell yeah!

Pause take a breath go for yours
On my command now hit the dance floors
I'm gonna make you sweat till you bleed
Is that ... enough, indeed
I pay the price, control the dice
I'm more precise, to a point I'm nice
The music takes control, your heart and soul
Oh, your body is free and a whole
Dance till you can't dance
Till you can't dance no more
Get on the floor and get warm
Then come back and upside down
Easy now, let me see ya
Move ... (Let your mind)
Move ... (Put me online)
The music is my life ...
everybody dance now ...
everybody dance now ...
everybody dance now ...
everybody ...

And speaking of parties...

Freaking people out can be really fun. So, the next time you're at a party say "I like Marilyn Manson. He writes some very good music and his videos are really incredible." You'll feel exhaulted when all the conversation just ceases. But you're having a good time, so hey!

Who's staying with me on the "Skill Point Removal" party plans?

(Riot-mongers, please flame me in a new thread. This one's for dancin'!)

But don't get me wrong. I'm still going to party, whether or not something like that happens.

I just think it would be kewl to party with my old PvP buddies.

I would very much likely quit SWG.

Wait....

  • You could continue to perform.

  • You could form a full Entertainer template, if you're currently a hybrid.

  • You could open the door to an entire world of content, if you're not currently a hybrid. (Addbetween 20 and 200 bullet points to this list.)

  • You could party with your closest non-Entertainer friends.

  • You could have more players in the cantinas.

  • You could continue to ask for more additions in terms of content, without worrying about your place in the game.

  • You could participate in the GCW.

  • You could still own your cantina.

  • You could still have mastered a great profession.

  • You could make far more money than you currently find in tips.

  • You could form full bands with players who've never picked up an instrument before, but would have loved to start years ago if they had the spare skill points.

Yet you would choose to quit?

Why?

Because I enjoy being a dancer. I don't wanna be a combat player who can dance. I'm CL 40 (4404 Carbine), I don't need to be CL 80 or whatever, I barely fight anyway.

I don't want everyone to be able to dance, make music etc, without sacrificing anything, without making choices.
Entertainers would be a side profession everyone can do, there would be zero respect for us

Removing skillpoints would be to admit that the project "social profession" was a failure.
Best just remove the profession completely and add the dances and songs as emotes to everyone then.

Til, I love you to death, but I can't join your No Skill Points party at all, hon. I joined Galaxies to be a dancer. Ienjoyed havingenough combat abilities to rome around in relative safety from monkies and mosquitoes, but I'm not a PvPer and not even that much of a PvEer. I have no desire to have combat types pick upentertainer every so often just so they can boogie with the "hawt" dancer chics. I believe it would lead tothe complete and total loss of respect for any player who would dare to be a full time entertainer and would either run most of us off the game or send any stalward souls fleeing to private player cantinas to get away from the negativity, the disrespect and thechildish groping we'd certainlyencounter as female dancers.

Sorry, to rain on your party, Til although I know that won't get you down too much ). But, if we loose our skill points, I'm almost certainly going to quit.

Sorry Til, you know I adore you, but… if this ever happens it be time for Deli’ah to prepay her maintenance for few years and just log on once in a blue moon when I feel like having more interesting screensaver. It would basically put us from not very useful to totally worthless fluff.

Have I wanted to be combat I would have been combat for past 2 years, but I didn’t want to “blow things up” yet I still wanted to be valid part of the game where I believed … hoped .. blowing things up was not the only way to play.

Skill points go, I’ll most likely go also, because at that point I will loose all hope of Entertainers as a profession ever amounting to anything in people’s eyes. We would be just a fluff to kill time with.

Although I'm always up for a party I don't think I'd ever celebrate removing the SP requirements. But you are always welcome to come "dance now" on Shadowfire

I'll be happy to dance with everyone. I love it when people pick up Novice Ent at parties just so they can dance basic. So, it should be even more fun when they don't have to drop the skill right after the party. Those people will probably just level up in dance super slowly.

I'll be sad if all of the true Dancers freak out and stop dancing or quit... but we have some say so in that part, don't we?

...If the skill point cost disappeared for Entertainer professions?

Why not removing skill point cost from all combat professions instead? Same result : everyone could dance, play a song and fight. And people could even enjoy more varieddifferent combat styles.

Why giving freely entertainers abilities to everyone and not the opposite ? Probably because "combat" is such a serious thing and entertaining is just a joke (no offense intended to the original poster).

I understand removing SP cost from entertainers will help promoting parties. Good. But for a couple of parties there and there, the professions will be downgraded to nothing. Sacrifying entertainers value to promote an aspect of entertainment is not a good idea, IMO.

As if shooting accurately with rifles was handed to everyone because everyone could enjoy a safari from time to time.

If I want to be able to hunt, I must invest SP into combat. If people want to dance, do the same. Sounds fair.

If they removed the skill points from combat professions, we'd have people with every profession, and like 7000 Melee and Ranged defense, so things would be outta whack balance-wise even more than they are now. A casual player would never have a chance in a fight.

But, I agree that there should be no skillpoint removal for Entertainers. The second they drop skillpoint requirements, most especially if they completely remove them, we'll be overrun with bots if they don't do something about AFK.

The first thing I would do is gather up all my combat buddies who've always said "Esh..I'd love to dance with you but I can't" and have a basic 2 chorus line stretching from one side of Theed to the other.

Then I would go back to the devs and say, "Ok..it's more than just atiny handful of players in these professions now. Here's whatpeople want to spend a chunk of their ingame time doing. You already know how we want the professions to be enhanced. Let's do it!"

You know..in the 14 months I was mayor, no one ever said, "Esh..I'm just dying to be mayor but I don't have the skill points to spare without taking me out of the war". But I hear this all the time about dancing.

Do I worry that Esh would no longer be rare or special? Heh..no!

More AFKers? If there are more dancers..more players..feeling our pain, more voices saying "Fix it, make it work."..that wouldn't hurt at all.
