Thread: Why do we have to wait 24 hrs to do the Audition again?

Whats the point of this? Is this to slow the game down more? I dont understand this at all. So I log into my dancer and then fail and log out for 24 hrs? And this is fun? Can we goto other planets and try this again or do all the managers say the same thing if you fail once?

They all say the same thing... and we are asking the quest Dev if this timer can be re-examined.

Sadly I think this is the shape of things to come. I may be wrong, but I believe at least one of the Jedi village quests makes you wait 24 hours between attempts.

Just another time sink and ham-handed attempt to slow the power gamers down, IMO.

Well I personally like it. (I seem to always be the Devil's advocate in the forums. )

Because, I think it adds more tension and realism to the performance. If it was not in there, everyone would just take the audition... not take it seriously... spam a bunch of macros.......... fail, /rinse;/repeat.

imho

Id feel better about the timer if the performance itself didnt seem so random... if i knew how to succed then the 24hrs would be ok...or even 24hrs between first and second performance...but to keep failing at them and not know why or how to fix it...that is pissing me off

I finished the quest on TCand Live with only failing once on each one. I do not see that as too much. What are you having trouble with, and have you read the guide?

I think this is why there is the 24-hour timer as well. It's to weed out the people who are not really serious about dancing. The devs have to figure out a way to weed out the annoying afk'ers/grinders.... this does not seem the best way to do it. Maybe they'll figure out a better way to do it for a future quest

And YAY, I FINALLY FINALLY passed my performance! weeee

I myself sort of think that you should be able to retry till you pass. Once you pass then it's x time limit before you can try the next step in the quest. Much better Time sink. And doesn't get people super annoyed when they fail because of random rolls by the game.

Here's my official opinion: screw this quest. I can't pass the final performance, I'm getting tired of trying, and I'm getting tired of being forced to wait to try again. It's beyond frustrating.

So, my opinion of this whole quest: thumbs down. Two of 'em. If I had more, I'd be pointing those down too. It's not consistent. There's no set pattern. The requirements and wishes of the audience seem to change with everyone... and I'm not referring to the dances or the flourishes. One person says "do this and this and this" and I try and I fail. Another person says "well try this and this and this" so I try and I fail again. So I ignore everyone and just try my own thing and I still fail.

Screw it.

24 hours seems a bit extreme for something that takes about 5 minutes to try. I'm not entirely opposed to having to wait to try again, but a more reasonable time would be appreciated.

The only way I could grudingly agree that 24 hours is acceptable is if the audience gave all the required information every time. If they tell me exactly what they want to see and what they don't want to see, then it's my own fault if I mess it up and I should have to wait a little bit before trying again. However, this is not the case - the randomness of the entire audience's usefulness is causing most of the problems, in my opinion.

There is a very simple answer for why there is a 24 hour timer on this quest and why we will see timers used in many more situations. The DEVs really aren't very good. They had no clue how to make a good quest so they came up with a bare minimum task to do and put in a huge timer to make it seem like it is more than it really is. If you look at the actions of the DEVs over the course of the game you will see they used to nerf anything when they had a problem they couldn't figure out a fix for. Well everyone complained about the constant nerfs so now they have switched to timers. This first started in the ID revamp and we will see it continue as players become better at the game and the true lack of skill of the development team comes to light.

I completely agree with this point. There should be no luck of the draw on the information you get from the audience. This truly adds no value to the quest. If you do what you're supp'd to do you should get rewarded and no one should be subjected to getting lucky or unlucky on how much info you get.

Some of the other quests in the game have a "luck" factor involving getting the drop you need but there is no wait time to keep on killing to try to find the drop.

This was a HUGE thing I disliked about EQ......long timers on respawns...days or even weeks and then hoping you got "lucky". It always just left me with a "thank heavens that's over" rather than a sense of satisfaction.

I have no problem with the timer but not getting the information that you need just leaves people feeling "wow I got screwed on that one and now I have to wait".

Use the Publish 11 Feedback thread and bring up this point. I think if they're going to charge us 400,000 xp to learn the thing, we may as well be able to keeping trying to pass the Quest. Please post your comments regarding the Quest here. It is now officially where feedback regarding the Quest should go. Don't get in battles in there, state your case and then wait for any response. We have some valid concerns/feedback for this stuff, so make your voice heard!

I'm on my "xp requirement is ridiculous" tirade in there, again, if anyone's interested in reading it.

I provide some solid numbers xp-wise to justify how lame the 400,000 xp requirement is - for the Musician side of things. If a Dancer wanted to do the same with their xp and dances learned, that'd be sweet.

Take it easy!
