Ok this does not apply to all dancers but many that AFK Macro i dont care about your xp but how hard does it have to be to find a mind buff. I go to a cantina and everyone is AFK begging for tips but no one is even there. The dancer proffesion then becomes useless.

It seems to depend on the server you are on, but the thing is from what I noticed is if there's a group there will be at least one person at the keyboard. Dancers and muscians freak if their group leader goes AFK for long periods of times. So you can always be sure if there's a large group of entertainers at least someone usually the leader is at their computer. He or she may not be able to buff but will be able to tell you who can and can not, on top of whether they are at the keyboard or not. Whether they will pass you this information is another thing.

I must tell you that this is not the only profession like this. The only thingI can say is that those of us that want to be entertainers have to deal with this also. I try not to afk at all, but this is a double edged sword. I work hard to try and interact with everyone thatI see come into a cantina, but most will ignore you when they can get what they need without having to interact. Why should I help someone buff when the only time they pay attention to me is when they need something. I have almost mastered every entertainer profession, and I have only made 25000 credits the whole time. That's not enough to buy the instruments to get to master musician. The only thingI can say about this is that hopefully the jedi revamp will get rid of the people that don't want to be there and the entertainers will become a commodity. I only hopeI can last long enough as an entertainer to see that happen.

This is a very common feeling in the entire Ent community.

As for mind buffs, try a large player player city with a large resident PA. Avoid Theed & Coronet like the plague (Lei holds her fingers in a cross formation to ward off evil spirits).

The AFK curse is definitely a problem - no argument there.

You can alsouse the search function in your Player option to find a master dancer or musician. If they have the title flagged, then they are more than likely able and willing to buff. Keep in mine, however, that you will need toeither go to them or pay for their travel expenses on top of their tip. And don't be surprised - or offended - if they ask for that up front. It seems there is a trend going round of stiffing buffers. Masters in the entertainment field are becoming a rarity. And far too many of the best have either taken up new professions or left the game altogether in frustration with the state of the prof.

Also, the leader of a group doesn't know any more than you do if a group member is AFK or LD. It would certainly be a nice addition to the group list to be able to see a person's keyboard status, though. At present, the leader has to hail each member to see if they respond or not.

And still SOE sees nothing wrong with AFK macroing.

Until they stop it this will just continue. And since they aren't going to stop it (based on the absolutely brilliant logic that they can't stop everyone so therefore they won't try to stop anyone), it's never going to stop.

Since it's never going to stop, most of us just gave up on the public cantinas. Screw it, them, and everyone who uses them, I say. If they want a REAL dancer, sadly, they now have to come FIND one. Buffing is the biggest problem. Since 99% of AFK Macroed masters drop the profession immediately (or within a few days anyway), there are no masters left around. All the dedicated ones are gone (from the cantinas at least, if not the profession and the game), leaving no masters and thus nobody to buff. So now the fighters are hurt by this too.

Oh, but the AFK dancers and musicians haven't hurt anything, right? They are just "playing the game their own equally valid way."

SOE needs to wake up. But I don't think they ever will. Which is why I mostly play my archited/TKA "alt" character now, who never has to deal with the AFK crap.

I tend to find it quite sad how Cantina's have gotten anyways, I mean, I have a Master Doctor/Master Dancer who gives special package buffs for 7 stats... and I'm always there...

Yet on Radiant in Theed it isn't THAT bad, we always have at least 10 or so people who are there at all times.

On Valcyn, theed / coronet / bestine tend to be 90 % at least afk.

Generally i have 0-2 people to talk to, this is 5th time and by FAR the most boring time ive been working to master dancer, once ive got the experiance however, i wont be going near those places again, most likely stick to player city cantina's or wherever my friends go i guess

They need to change the auto kickthing to include macro's in the equation, so if your not typing, not pressing stuff with your mouse, then you get kicked after 15 mins, macro or not.

Dunno how possible that is, but thats what should be done

OH! Ok, this shows you how much of a noob I still am with SWG. I often wondered whyrandom people that I've never seen before would /tell me out of the blue and ask if I was doing buffs while I was out in the middle of nowhere in a barren, desolate part of the planet. LOL

Ok, well, this is a good feature. I have been spending credits like crazy recently and really needed to make money last night. So, I went and got some action buffs so I could mind buff people. I went into the Coronet Cantina, and of course, with my luck, there were 2 or 3 other Master Dancers there giving out buffs, and advertising for it. I had a little better luck when I decided to go to Theed. But, for the most part, business for me was slow last night, even though I did make *some* money.

I don't think this is the norm, though. I usually when I'm in Cantina (or elsewhere and get a random /tell lol) people incessantly bug me for mind buffs, to the point where I sometimes take off my title. It was just a random stroke of bad luck that when I really needed to make some money I couldn't, but when I don't, people always ask me to buff them. hehe

So, I can sympathize, though. If anyone is ever in Kettemoor and they see me in a Cantina, they can rest assured that I am not afk and will happily buff if my title is on.

While in principle I agree that macroing is the weapon of choiceof the AFKhologrinder and warrants aserious overhaul, when I powerbuff I use a macro. If I have a line of patrons waiting I could be macroing for 20-30 minutes if I'm in the ent group (which I usually am so that the newer AFK ents getthe benefit of my title).

I've run into the Bria Theed cantina several times recently just to see what it looks like in there. There are AFKers packed in like sardines. The mass of names and titlesare so tangled that its all but impossible to tell who DOESN'T have the AFK sign over their head let alone who is a master . . . sigh

if your buffing people with a macro chances are you are clicking people to target them, or typing text chatting or something along those lines, therefore wouldnt be subject to the autokick as i described it
