Thread: Credit Scandal: Couldn't have happened at a worse time to a more vulnerable profession.

This is big and something the bluetags have to bring up ASAP! Yes, its the credit scandal. Unless this is handled correctly, entertainers are going to have a lot of trouble staying in this game. This is why I’m worried:

--We get paid through the tip system. We don’t trade goods.

--We can’t afford to tip back big amounts. Who knows if we’ll ever see another tip in days? Its just the nature of the professions. I can’t tell you how many times a 100,000 credit tip from an armour mogul was the ONLY tip I received in a week.

--I would imagine the same people who do this counterfeiting are the same people who run buffbots: multiple accounts, members of “pay to win” sites, etc.

--I would imagine also that any one deranged enough to do this scam would be deranged enough to take down those things they hate. We have been systematically hated by powergamers for a long time who feel we do not belong in the game. I wouldn’t put it past these people to tip us counterfeit credits to “tag us” honest live ents as cheaters.

So until the bluetags give me some indication I can still play this profession, I am going to don my fencing attire, polish my epee, and work on my riposte fighting…whatever. And playing this profession for me includes the ability to take in every tip—no matter the size, confident that I can keep it, use it, and spend it.

Sirii Ajaan the “Dancer of and for the Stars” is on sabbatical from the venues until further notice…and I suggest you other entertainers who hope to be around in a week do the same.

There is no reason to stop entertaining, or to panic. The best idea is to report any tips in excess of 1 million credits, especially from people you don't know, including the amount of the tip, time and place received, and tipper's name.

By this morning, many of the dupers themselves have been banned. What's left are people who naively (or not-so-naively) accepted gifts from them. That should be cleaned up soon as well.

I can’t tell you how many times a 100,000 credit tip from an armour mogul was the ONLY tip I received in a week. Were talking millions here. If you were tipped an extremely large amount of money from someone you dont know, chances are you would try to figure out why you suddenly accquired a very nice benefactor before you went on a shopping spree.

--I would imagine the same people who do this counterfeiting are the same people who run buffbots: multiple accounts, members of “pay to win” sites, etc. You have a wild imagination! Not all people who have multiple accounts run buffbots.

I dont think that whoever thought of this made it as a personal vendetta to banish dancers from the game. What would be the point? If they knew the dancers would get banned from receiving tainted money, they would know that they themselves would get banned, and most likely any accounts linked to them, so what do they gain from it?

I understand your concerns, but I dont think this calls for a mass panic. I, myself, am tadconcerned because a few nights ago, as I was entering Coronet, I randomly received a system message that told me "insert name" has tipped you 999,999 credits. Yes, it shocked me, I immediatly checked by bank account..no such funds were there. Others around me were also being targeted. We all had a good laugh and moved on.Now if this has anything to do with the scam that is going on, I dont know.I was able to log on this morning, so far, so good. This dupe was created by players that want easy money, not to ruin the Entertainers. It is affecting all players, in every profession.

I think that would apply for the people who did the /tip person 100000 tons of times to make them know what happened, also remember that not a lot of people are that bad, there's a guy who was in my guild who had over 500 mill credits and he got them in a honest way, he used to hunt krayts with his 3 atst back in the time when no one knew about krayts, he bought an exceptional t21 rifle for 100 mill, and he's honest, it's just to be a little bit nervous but not that much

/agree. All this panic starts whenever there is an announcement made and then no followup. Rumors get going and the next thing ya know, we are all at each others throats. The only thing we know for sure is that they caught whoever was doing it and have put a stop to it. Im sure there are ways of flushing out the guilty parties vs the innocent bystanders..

I am really nervous too, and I didn't dance yesterday. When do you think it will be safe to dance/accept tips?

Jeez, come on. It's safe now! Just be wary of any HUGE tips (we're talking more than a million credits here). If you get one, use the in-game cs system to file a ticket. That's all.
