For 30 they really should just move all your items as well. Deed eveything that can be deeded and move it all with you.

Yet you need to delete your character to "make room" for the new one...how does that work...

Just looks to me like if you, say, have a character on Ahazi that you want to move to Bria, but you already have a character on Bria occupying your account's character slot, you'd have to get rid of the old one on Bria to make room for the one you wanted to move from Ahazi.

Seems pretty clear that they're making it so it's not just a way to get multiple character slots all over the place. Without this, I could for example create a character on Bria to move to Ahazi to hang out with Deila. Now that the character is no longer on Bria after the transfer, and I had 2 characters on Ahazi, I could make another character on Bria (since I no longer have one there), and rinse and repeat.

Of course, rather than saying you only get one character per server, I wonder if they could just say that everyone gets maybe 3 character slots totaland you put them where you like. All on one server, spread out over three different servers, your choice. Wonder if that would cause problems... you know that most people would just load up all three characters on one server.

We return you now to your regularly scheduled immersion.

I think the thing to remember here is that this is a character transfer not a character copy. I presently have no interest whatsoever in transfering from Bria. I would, however, seriously consider copying over to a different server providing all my possessions and credits were copied over as well. SOE certainly doesn't make it very appealing . . . think that's on purpose?

I seriously question the value of this. All you get are your skills. No money. No belongings. Not even guaranteed to get your name.

Skills aren't all that hard to get in this game.

So why would I pay SOE $30 to transfer a character? That's2 months subscription. I can create a new toon andburn all 250 skill credits easily in 2 weeks, save maybe mastering Merchant.

Ingame Names: Sif @ Bria, Chilastra, Flurry, Naritus, Starsider | Hiordis @ Kettemoor | Freya @ Tempest
Quotable: It's pretty freaking underwhelming when the story turns out to be you, alone, in a field, for two weeks, punching toads. | At least SOE lasted a year before they went Turbine on us.

It took me several months to master Dancer. Credits, by comparison, are pretty easy to come by, as are houses, vehicles, etc.

Also, if I were to move servers it would be because I had friends or associates waiting to welcome me on the new server. I'm sure they would love to help me get on my feet financially.

For a casual play like myself, were I looking to move servers, I'd be tempted to pay the $30. I'm sure some people will take advantage of this.

I dunno. I actually agree with Sigrun, believe it or not.

I don't see any value in this whatsoever. If I wanted to transfer Drygo elsewhere, I'd create Drygo on that server, make him look like Drygo looks, and spend 2 weeks grinding my template out hardcore. However, my items and credits would take me months to replicate (AV-21, just to provide one example)and would be far more difficult than replicating my current template. It's not at all worth giving everything up and paying $30 to do something that I could do myself within a short span of time, and not have to give anything up in the process.

They can't transfer items and credits because each server has a different economy and different quality in items. 100k on one server is the same as 1M on another. So, if you transfer from the rich server to the poor one, you'll have a big advantage in credits.

In items, there's some significant differences in the resources that spawned on each server. For example the resources to make some weapons on Bria aren't as good as the ones on Chilastra, IIRC. So, transfering items from the lucky server to the unlucky one is going to give a big advantage because of the better guns the player would bring with them.

I've considered it, but I have three accounts and each account has masters of various professions on different servers.

So I might combine the three best templates onto one server, but it would be one that I have at least one established character on already.

For a person with a single account, it would be fairly useless to transfer a character rather than just starting a new one.

I had originally hoped that this would allow me to combine my two accounts. I guess that was expecting a little toomuch. If everyone combined their main & alt accounts, SOE would lose a lot of money.

If I wanted a character on, say, Eclipse, and I had $30 to spend on getting said character, I would far rather buy credits off eBay than transfer a character without inventory, credits, or housing.
