Has anyone here ever left a city and guild because of... let's just say.. political differences involving a B word? If so, can you offer advice on how to do this tactfully and without a lot of drama or finger pointing? Can I just take down the cantina and remove myself from the guild or should I offer an explanation and make an attempt to find a new owner?

any advice is appreciated.

cheers,

Ikewe

Easy way with little to no mess is take it down leave and who ever is in charge/friends pass them a quick mail letting them know that you did it and that if they want to know more they can ask.

If it's their cantina then pass it on back to them some how.

But might be better to get advice from someone that has dealt with it before.

Well, I left the first city I joined because there was fighting between those who wanted to "take the city Imp" and those who wanted it to stay neutral. As a result the guild leader/mayor stepped down and gave the hall to someone who then destroyed it... And there was a bunch of ugliness thereafter. So I didn't leave the guild so much as the guild left me, you might say.

I was still in town but I just decided I'd had enough of the crap there... and somehow managed to persuade the former mayor to become one again. We started a new outpost with a few other people (started with 10... now we have almost 70 there and just celebrated our anniversary).

As to how I left the town well... I was on the brink, and the Imp guild set up an AFK macro zombie in our cantina. That was the last straw. I believe my words were, "Well I can see you don't need me any more," and with that I walked out, uprooted the house, and left. (OK it was more complicated than that -- I had to make multiple trips between house and bank first, heheh).

At that point I was not worried about what the people left behind would think of me though, so I was not worried about being gentle. All my real friends left either before or shortly after I did.

just post something about it on a forum and hope they see it
^_-

just kidding

Just tell them you aren't enjoying it anymore. The cantina issue is up to you. If it's your cantina I imagine there would be no problem, but if people use it alot you may want to look into getting a new owner so as to not confuse people when their favorite cantina isn't there anymore.

wow. I started three sentances in a row with just. Shoot me.

When I left my guild and city, I told a few people that I respected that I was leaving. I told them that I left for several reasons: I was no longer a Rebel and living in an all Rebel city and being in an all Rebel guild wasn't going to work (they ban those that are suspected Imperial, even if they are only neutral), it was evident thatI was no longer needed (the buffbot in the cantina next to my house confirmed that), and that I am an entertainer first and everything else second. They may not have liked it but it was my choice to join and my choice to leave.

I'd suggest telling them your reasons for leaving and leave it at that. They may not like it but it is your choice. As for your cantina, it is yours to decide what to do with. Regardless of anything your city and guild may say, it was your choice to place it and your choice to take it. It's not an easy thing to leave a city and guild behind to press on on your own.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure the the entire entertainer community will support you in your decision.

If you are leaving because of something being done to you (aka b word being used) say something about it, make a complaint. Then if they refuse to help you or acknowledge that you are being harmed by their using this offensive thing... Leave.

Always give people a chance to correct the problem first though.

Well I have left a guild before but for different reasons. As to whether or not you offer an explanation depends on how well you know and get along with your guildies and leader. If you take down the cantina I see no harm in it. The...ummm...b---....can always move to the guild hall. If you know longer are happy with where you are leave. I'd probably shoot an email to the mayor or something but that's about it.

My advice is to let those that you know to be supportive know why you are leaving. I turned over my cantina when I gave it up, taking only from it what I wanted. I let those who would genuinely want it contact me, and I made arrangements to turn it over. I then left the guild and I handled the questions/comments as they came. There is often never a good way to handle the situation. I hope you can finda way to make this as little of a dramatic moment as possible.

I did something kinda like this myself. I left the guild, and emailed the guild leader/city mayor privately and asked if they knew of another Entertainer in the guild or someone who was planning on mastering who I could transfer the Cantina to. It was very low key and I don't even think most of the people who lived in the city knew I owned the Cantina in the first place.

I don't go in big for drama. I find that bowing out as gracefully as possible is best for keeping one's reputation intact. You never know who you may or may not want to rekindle friendships with down the line.

No need to give them an explanation. Just quit the guild. If they are really that concerned, they'll contact you. But they will not ever understand how hurtful the comment was if you are still with them, despite the error. And don't think they'll hate you or be done with you. Chances are, they'llgrovel totake you back. And if they don't, you'll have ten other guilds that will grovel to get you to join them.

The secret about guilds that no guild leader will ever tell us is that guilds need players more than players need guilds. Cities need residents more than residents need cities. And while they think they may need a cantina, nobody really needs it.

Now I remember I joined Doasa's city of Four Rivers. It is truly, in my opinion, one of the jewels of Corellia on Bria. That being said, it did have a property tax, and I was at a point in the game where I did not have much in the bank, and was not going to log on very often. So I left and moved into unincorporated Bela Vistal. It was a different situation, but nevertheless, I just left. No need to explain. If they are truly concerned with your situation, they'll contact you. If not, then frankly dear, its more trouble for you wearing their tags than its worth.

Since you've decided that you want to leave, then you've already talked to the bot and come to the conclusion that the bot will remain in the city, whether you do or not. If others aren't aware of that contact, then I'd make them aware by loudly telling the bot owner to F*** OFF as I walked out the door.Your friendsin the city can thenconfront that owner about the differences between the two of you after you're gone.

But then again, I like to piss people off.
