Thread: The general public should know how to dance...

I am not a dancer, nor will I ever be. The skill point requirement is far too great for me to justify it with my current skill set. Despite this, every day I can think of multiple occasions it would be cool to dance. You know the types of occasions, when you killa particularly difficultmonster, when your friend goes AFK and you cant get his attention, when you are standing there waiting for a shuttle to come, etc.

Then I got to thinking, wouldnt it be cool if dancers could make a dancing school where they could teach people certain dance moves? These dance moves would be purely for fun (no fatigue/wound healing), and you could only learn one dance base.

The system I was thinking about works something like this:

The dancer crafts a "dance lesson kit" for dance X. Then, the dancer takes the dancee (lol) to his/her place of residence and after a few minuntes the person knowsthe dance and a few flourishes (nunmber of flourishes and dances available is dependant on skill). Then, as time goes by the dancee slowly loses his skill atdoing his learned dance unless he goes in for more lessons.

I think this wouldgive dancers a whole new source of income, and a fresh set ofchallenges to overcome. I know I wouldpay big time money to learn how to do the robot

There is command that lets you do a simple non-healing dance. I think it's /dance, haven't used it though.

/dance just says "xxx drags xxx onto the dance floor" or something like that.

And anyway, i dont want to do stupid dances. I want to do the cool ones

Actually, /dance with no one targetted does a very graceful, beautiful dance.

What I personally wish would be the base dance for the "formal" dance for dancers, in fact. Looks a hell of a lot better than the actual formal dance.

Actually Lenaa, the base dance is the unflourished style of Lyrical2, one of the dances you acquire at Master Dancer. Although myself, I find it slightly annoying that if Lyrical2 is one of the hardest dances to achieve, why can everyone do the unflourished part of the dance simply by typing /dance while not targeting anyone?

While it is a different idea to have a dance school, besides credits what good is it for a dancer if everyone can learn even our basic skills without training Novice Entertainer like those of us dedicated to the trade have done? I became a dancer first because it LOOKED fun, not because of the healing that dancers can do.Now as I am dancing I can see the mind wounds heal,it makes me proud of my accomplishment.

Sure I wish I could learn how to slice weapons without acutally having to spend the points, but I can tell you how ticked off smugglers would be if I could learn how to do their skill for even a few minutes.

And then, Master Pistoleers could create a special computerized pistol and sell it to someone who did not want to spend the points to learn how to shoot. Something like the 'uber gun for beginners'. After all how hard is it to shoot a gun. That would allow not combat people to participate in the cool fighting.

And then Creture Handlers could sell Creature Control Devices that are implanted in the brains of creatures, after all this is a high science time period. Since I dont have the points to devote to Creature handler this would allow me to have a creature and the Creature Handlers would have another source of income.

Then let us consider the Jedi. Think how benefitial it would be for Jedi to be able to mass produce lightsabers to sell. Think how it would benefit the Jedi by giving them a new set of challenges.

Maybeif it only worked while you "danced" with a dancer who was currently dancing. I *do* wish that some customers could dance with me and do the same dance (theirs should be amirror image though!). Exotic should be excluded from the list.

So, if two people /dance with each other let them do the *same* dance that the skilled dancer is currently performing (or something like that)?

This would let dancers who *want* to dance with someone do so. I *don't* think that someone should be granted the ability to do skilled dances by possesion of a crafted item. They should have to be dancing with someone who knows the dance.

I'd rather see pairs dancing implemented =)

I DO like the idea of people being able to dance, and have encouraged many people with the available points to at least pick up novice ent. There's nothing like having an event or being in the cantina and watching the big bad bounty hunters dance LOL.. even better sometimes if they *don't* have dance and use /dance and go floating around the room.

I would agree though, that it's a bit frustrating the flourish that was chosen for the dance, but on the other hand, if someone were goofing around and dancing, that is more likely to be how they'd look.

Woah you guys are way too defensive on this board. This would increase the utility of dancers not decrease it.

I just dont want to waste 40 skill points on getting the dance step I want. Its such a shame that such a great part of the game is left onlyto roleplayers and the like. And it seems that most of you people in here want to keep it that way. I dont know who is worse, the people who bash roleplayers, or the roleplayers who bash everyone else defending the way they play the game.

God yes!!!

Please, yes! I want more of this kind of idea on this forum! Without a doubt the ability to choose a single partner and do a dance together would be the greatest addition ever to dance! I am not talking about dancing the same exact steps at the same time but dance together as in one person leads while the other follows. Real dancing!

If it is a dance move you would like then it is not a wasted 40 points. I would like to use a Scout Blaster but done want to waste all those points on Pistol III. Even if you get no experience points and cannot heal, what would differentiate you from any other dancer. I have people watch me even when they are healed to pass the time and provide me a few meager xp. If they watch you instead, then the real entertainers lose out.

If you want a skill then get it. Especially when that skill is hard earned.

No... it "cheapens" the class some. Just imagine if they created a Bounty Hunter created item that allowed anyone in the game to use bounty hunter weapons for 10 minutes, and a special pistol powerup that allows pistol whip attack for 10 minutes. A "build a large house in 5 easy steps kit"

This is exactly the same thing you are asking for... I'm sorry, I spent 100 skill points on being a dancer. I don't want you to walk in with 500 credits and get the same dance I have.

You'll never see a Master Dancer perform a BH mission, so I never want to see a BH perform a Dancer skill.
