Thread: Looping a macro

Can anyone please explain to me how I can get a macro to loop for when I'm AFK? I log into the game when I get home from work, do some crafting and such until dinner. I'd like to have my character dance inside her house while I'm away, but I can't figure out how to set that up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Expect this ability to be nerfed sometime.

What you do is create your macro and put the icon on the toolbar. Let's say its on the upper left button (F1).

As the last action in the macro, you execute "/ui action toolbarSlot00". This "presses" the F1 hotkey and starts the macro all over again. Infinite macro. You end it by dragging the icon off of the hotkey or switching to a different hotkey bank.

Doing this in your home to get XP is fine. Just don't do it during a performance. (That's personal taste. I don't like macros and never use them myself.)

Thanks for the info!

I intend to do this only at the character'shome for the XP, while I'm puttering about in RL. Ifind it annoying when it's done in the Cantina and the dancer is in the group AFK. Keeps other entertainers out if the group is full.

Caution: Macros cannot be stopped once they're started. If you get into an infinite loop, the only way to stop it is to /quit.

Not so. You may end a looping macro by right-clicking (or just clicking and holding, sorry cant remember)and holding on the macro icon in the hotkey toolbar and selecting remove from the menu that appears. Just wait for the loop to continue and once it does, you will hear the null ding sound to indicate that the loop has finished. There you go, no /quit to get out of it. Enjoy.

you could also switch to an empty tool bar...

AFK macro dancing sucks.

That being said, make an alias if you're not going to be gone too long. There's plenty of posts out there explaining how, just use the search function. As a clue, type "/alias macro1 dancestuffhere" when you're in game, and then you can edit the "dancestuffhere" from out of game inside the aliases.txt file that will now be in your SWG folder.

Oh yeah, and AFK dancers suck. How can you be proud of mastering a profession when you didn't do anything?

Are you referring to those loop macros that call ui keys? Because, that makes sense. Otherwise, no, you cannot halt a macro once it has started.

Hello.

Can anyone tell me how to make a macro loop when you want it to loop? Right now my macro wont loop when I need it to loop, but if I definitely don't want it to loop, say when I'm just running around, it, of course, loops. This is mighty annoying, so if anyone have some kind of a solution for this, then feel free to speak.

Thanks

depends on the macro, when you want any macro to stop use /dump. it stops all macro's.

say you want to loop afk status as an example:

make 2 macros and locate them in 2 unused toolbar slots,

1st macro. (put in tool bar slot 00)

/afk;

/pause 5; (or any other time you want)

/ui action toolbarSlot01

2nd macro (put toolbarslot01)

/ui action toolbarSlot00

sorry, that will loop your afk status, it will set your status to afk pause then goto next slot which will go back set it to non afk and rinse and repeat....

to stop switch your toolbars or type /dump
