Thread: The bad news and the good news about Trials of Obi-Wan

The bad news - most of the quest loot and the bonus rewards will be "no-trade". If you want it, you have to join up with a CL80 hunting group and hope you both live and get a chance to loot the prize or the components to create the prize. If you're a CL1 entertainer then you've got about five minutes worth of content in Trials that involves acquiring the tune and/or dance. If you want the baton you'll need sufficient monetary resources to convince a combat wombat to do the work for you as well as give you loot that he could use himself for more profession appropriate things. My recommendation is that, when making a purchase decision, low-CL entertainers (and maybe even CL54 hybrids) consider the bunker house, giant flea mount, and dance/tune as the only reasons to by Trials of Obi-Wan.

The good news - If you hate reading my five page long diatribes then you won't have to read them any more. This expansion has convinced me that I was wrong. The devs are not misunderstanding our professions and the crafting professions. They simply don't want non-combat professions in the game any more. Given this conclusion, I can't see any mileage in continuing to look for ways to improve the non-combat games.

Unfortunately I foresaw this in beta testing the CU and have been harping on it since then, even in my bug reports. It has been downhill slide with each subsiquent Publish and Expansion since the CU went Live.

Oh well, now they have it all ready for the console version - just a few more pesky non-combat types to dispose of...

I'm gone too, probably end of Nov. or end of Dec. Depending on how fast I can get my guild's version of the Galaxy Guys and Girls calendars done. This expansion is the last straw.

Oh and where is Esharra? I want it on the record that I was right about the expansion. I want credit. I bet $50 there would be zero actual on-planet content for us other than getting the dance and song, and lookee here, I was right.

I want my $50.

I actually like reading your posts. They are very well said and always right in line with how I think.

yea, i definately won't be buying the expansion, I'm so sick of the devs acting as though the combat professions are the only professions in the game.

I've already planned to get the ToOW - I've got two combat characters that I am very attached to and roleplay with- but, this puts a hamper on my plans of buildingon my newdancer/teras kasi character.. Normally I've been just fine with being a little under level, but, if it's going to be Kashyyyk on steroids then I don't know how much use my character's gonna be..

Not even the new dance makes up for most of this. But I'll give it a chance - why not.

I think we're gonna see a rapid population decline soon..

No you probably didn't promise me any money.

I respect you for continuing the good fight, but I can't do it any more. Games are supposed to be fun, not battles, not anger, not frustration -- fun. Too much of my time in SWG has been spent on frustration rather than fun. The fun quotient has dropped to an unacceptable level. So I'm done.

I agree, I get the feeling more and more that SWG is just a lost cause and I might as well get outtahere, because things will never improve. The way this game is run is just hopeless. It's almost as if they're trying their hardest to run it into the ground. It's bad enough that an expansion only offers content for a part of the player-base, but on top of that, they almost seem to go out of their way to actively p!ss off some of their paying customers with each publish and expansion (JtL being the exception here).

It takes a special kind of talent to alienate your player-base in that way over and over again

Oh, and as a small detail...

* The bunker house takes 5 lots, so that effectively means that every entertainer (or Chef for that matter) that owns a cantina and wants to keep it is prevented from placing it unless they tear down ALL their other structures.

* The only real point of the lava flea is to traverse the lava on Mustafar safely. Since there is no content for a CL1 entertainer out there anyway, the flea is pretty much useless (seems to be pretty slow by first reports from beta)

So, in effect, you would pay $30 for just a song and/or dance.

Sorry, but no way.
