Hello, this Luka Aran. Im a master dancer on lowca and a BABE (yay!).

Anyway, ive been watching my sister try to become an artisan and i noticed how when she tried to survey sometimes this menu would pop up with an option (imparaphrasing here) : newresource concentraion discovered.Do you want totry andaccess (300 action) or ignore and continue working?

Here the artisan stops mining until this question is answered, although the character is still kneeling like shes still working. Heres what i propose as a dancer/muscian afk fix:

1) Dancers when dancing, as well as musicans i suppose, they will recieve a similar, random message every once in a while telling them they are able to hit a dance step just rightfor an increased (one time) action cost or to continue dancing like normal. If they select yes and are successful (based on dancing skill and the type of dance) the dancer recieves triple xp for that one flourish. Selecting yes and failing causes the dancer to fall on their butt (which is the usual fail animation). A new animation for a succesful try is not necessary (but would be cool hint hint devs).

2) Selecting "no" allows the dancer to continue to dance like normal at noextra action charge.

3) If a dancer does not answer this question (which by design will not have a typed command linked to it - so no macro exit is possible) they will continue to dance but after 1 minute no xp will be awarded to the dancer. After 5 minutes of not answering, the dancer falls down (landing in a sitting position) and stops dancing (dancer will not be able to start dancing again for at least 10 minutes while they collect themselves, he he).

** Now for the tricky part:

1) Dancers (and musicans) can be immune to this random "opportunity" if they are in a group with at least one other muscian and dancer andthey have peformed a group/band flourish in the last 5 minutes. This will protect scripted band events (such as plays or dance routines) from being interupted by the new random "opportunity"

2) Players will of course have had to allow their characters to recieve band/dance flourish commands from the leader in order to be protected.

*** now i know that there is still a way around this fix but it will require at least two people to be afk dancing together in a group with one of them band/group flourishing, which is something most afk dancers wont want to do because 1) only one member gets xp on group flourishes and 2) most afkers dance alone or write macros to join other groups. In the second case, if that group isnt using band/group flourish, the dancer isnt protected from the random question.

Anyway, sorry if someone else thought this up first ( i didnt see it on the boards but i havent looked everywhere). I think its a pretty cool fix, it hurts afking and makes use of the falling animation. It also gives dancers a little more interactivity and rewards for dancing. What do yall think?

Its a good idea for the most part, might cut down on macroing a little bit but its still very easy to get past that popupbox. People still afk survey like crazy. I'm still sort of partial to the no exp while afk and turn off the ability to remove the auto flag. But even that has loopholes too. Lots of great ideas on how to fix the AFK problem. Sort of up the to devs at this point to pick from some of the better ones.

I have no problem with people having AFK macros or being AFK. They are playing the game as they want. If they want to lose out on RP, or tips, or anything else... fine. I don't think it's an ethical question. And for devs taking control over it... well, that's like the gov't sticking it's nose into certain parts of a citizen's private life and micro managing.

Let the other players respond to AFKers. Don't tip. Don't group. Kick'em out. There are any number of actions one can take.

I have gone afk while dancing (especially if Alias is on!!) but I will warn my group ahead of time, and tell them to kick me out if they need to. I don't mind. When a group leader goes afk though... now that's just wrong.

That's just MHO.

Quick question how do you allow your character to receive the band/dance flourish commands from the group leader? I have never had the /bandflourish thing to work for me while dancing. And I've heard how cool it can look when you all doing the same dance together and I'm almost at master now I wanna see it plus it's up setting that i can be this close to mastering dancer and still not know some things (i dont afk marco before anyone asks... im just shy and i dont often ask questions, i try to figure it out on my own

yes, but the one thing with that is what if the person leaves the computer for 10 to 15 minutes to assist somebody else in the house, and hasset it so amacro isgoing so they dont loose out on the exp for 10 to 15 minutes?

and now for the punch line:

what if you had chilli and beer for dinner?

If you leave your computer you loose xp. It has a 5 minute inital timer so that even after the message comes up you have 5 minutes before xp is lost. Even when your working around the house, its easy enought to pop in the room and see if the question is on your screen. What this gets rid of is people leaving their computer on and afking while they work, go out drinking (lol), etc.

I'm not playing SWG to have the ultimate groove dance/music whatever.

Dont need to have a PS2 Dance for Britney in SWG

(sorry if i judge hard but it sounds like that for me)

btw, tripple xp.. no... dont make master dancer even easier to accomplish

Here's an idea I had last night in Bestine, add a few new titles that are earned if your character does more then 5-10 hours of AFK skill animating before you reach master, the titles would be:

Master AFK Dancer
Master AFK Entertainer
Master AFK Musician

This would have a added benefit so other entertainers know how they got to master level and what kind of knowledge of the profession they have, I find it silly that Master Musicians ask me how to do a buff or how I change the band music without stopping the band...
