<giggle> I also noticed it gives them stinky breath and they don't change their clothes for days!

The epidemic is spreading rapidly again, last night one of the spiced up dancers in Mos Eisley was so out of this world that she got stuck with her hand in the strings of my mandoviolon.

It made a horrible noise when my strings broke as she danced away from me and it took me a good 10 minutes to re-string my mandoviolin.

I had to purchase a ticket to Correlia to get some new strings for my mandoviolin and when I saw there were no spice induced dancers there I decided to stick around, to save myself another set of strings.

Yes, isn't it sad that this new drug is sweeping through our cantinas? The other day in Coronet, I was the only dancer ina FULL group who was not a twitching, drooling zombie on AFK. I wept.

Maybe we should found a new cross-server PA: DAAFK (Dancers Against AFK) and get our Musician friends to start MAAFK. We must combat this hideous scourge!!

The epidemic has swept to the Valcyn galaxy as well. Also a new phrase the non afk dancers are hearing alot of is: "Why are you dancing, did your holocron tell you to?" . Please let me know if this also has spread to the other galaxies as I am losing my mind having to answer every 1/2 hour.

Heheh... glad you liked it.

OK, now for the story... I didn't have time to post it last night.

A dancer friend of mine, and I, who hang out in Keren, have been getting frustrated that even Keren is starting to become an AFK hang out. We've tried going to Kaadara and they are there too. And Moenia and Theed always have had these folks, so basically there's noplace left to go on Naboo without them.

Finally we just went back to Keren and there were two people AFK dancing. We started RPing -- we're heavy RPers. But it is hard with these folks because you can't just ignore them... Others come in and try to interact with them (not realizing they are "AFK"), and then ask us why they are not responding. We either have to step out of character to explain it (frequently newbies ask, "What does AFK mean?" which then leads to more OOC explanations) and basically the whole RP atmosphere is ruined. Not to mention how it looks on the screen, and this is a graphical RPG after all.

So finally I hit on this idea to RP it. In real life, lots of celebrity peformers have drug problems. Maybe these guys have the SW equivalent -- a spice problem. So I started RPing about how these guys must be addicted to spice... and the other person joined in. She's the one who came up with "Kreetlejuice" for the K, and then it all fell into place.

So we have decided, this is how we are going to treat the situation from now on. "AFK" dancers and musicians are, as far as we are going to RP, Kreetlejuice spice addicts, drooling on their instruments and in states of near-catatonia.

My friend was a little worried that the AFKers might not like it. My answer to her was, in the first place, how can they even know about it since they aren't at their keyboards, and in the second place, what are they going to do about it... MACRO at us??

Anyway, I figured I'd post it here, since it ended up turning what might have been an annoying evening (not many customers last night), into a really funny one.

I like the RP line to it... but if it's that bad on Theed, why not just go where the fighting is and do your ATK thing there?

Yeah, my character has never danced in Theed. Not once. Ever. Nor has she ever danced in (or even been to) Coronet.

I went to Theed the first week I played the game. I had already seen a few AFKers in Moenia but not many. I took major lag hits in Theed and the cantina took forever to load. It was laggy after loading (this was before I bumped the RAM up in my system, to be fair). After all that laggy behavior I noticed that out of a group of 18 or so, maybe 3 were sober... the other 15 were high on Kreetlejuice (hee hee).

So I immediately turned and left, and have never returned to Theed cantina. I know lots of dancers who go there, and every one reports that the Kreetlejuice epidemic has remained bad there.

I like Keren. That's where my PC dances. She only leaves to go to Kaadara or Moenia -- usually to hunt, and it used to be Kaadara until I got 10 missions in a row there that failed to spawn, and then switched to Moenia and got 10 in a row that did spawn -- and then usually only briefly. Once a week I take her to other planets (higher end worlds, Rori, etc), which will continue until she has seen all 10 planets in the game (she's done 8 of the 10 now I think). So, nah... I don't hang around in Theed being miserable. I hang out in Keren.

Our main annoyance is that Keren, because we were active and RPing with people, has become an increasingly popular hang out. It attracted more dancers and musicians, and the groups went from 2-4 to more like a dozen. But these large groups in turn attracted AFKers, who like big groups due to the experience gain. This in turn led the people who had been attracted to Keren because there WERE NO AFKers, to leave and go elsewhere... and now all that's left are a few of us originals, plus the kreetlejuice addicts.

Hopefully the addicts will go elsewhere and Keren will go back to the nice, quiet, friendly, drug-free environment it once was. We shall see.

What I am NOT going to do is leave Keren cantina. I refuse to "concede the field" to the AFK addicts. I already did that once, in Moenia, and I ended up losing touch with tons of early friends over it. That is not happening again.

As for "going where the fighting is", yes, we have had that debate before. I see no reason to side-track this humorous, thread, to that debate.

While I'm with ya on the enjoyment of the thread, I do have to comment on that line.

Thisseems easy enough to defeat. The group lead should communicate with members with some regularity. Every 10-15 minutes or whatever. If the member is unresponsive, try again. If the member is still unresponsive, kick 'em.
