Tonight I, Roho, Doasa, Feona, Shailas, a cuddly Wookiee called The Commandant and an up and coming young musician named Havyk had a great time in the Theed Cantina. Sure we had to /addignore several people (including spamming MIDs from the tent), but we didn't let them ruin our fun. We entrenched ourselves toward the side in front of an alcove and jammed and danced for a couple of hours. And even though I had a rotten, stinking headache through the whole thing, I was relunctant to leave. Lots of players came over to see our performance, comment on our being live, etc. Actually there were plenty of live entertainers there - and no spam troopers at all.

Fun can be had in the game still. We might go for round two on Tuesday . . . .

Make a character on Kettemoor. Go to Theed on Wednesday around...oh...say...8 eastern. Hop a shuttle to a little town in the middle of the map called Temenos. Look for a green Twi'lek named Dathora (she can give you some clothes so you don't have to look all newbie-ish). Then, at around 9pm, 9:30ish, in that same town, go to the cantina called The Green Room.

Much fun shall be had.

And you'll have a character there that you will want to have come the end of April...hint, hint.

I agree that fun can still be had in cantinas. I've lived in Theed cantina on Kauri for 2 weeks now but this is the most fun I've had. Tonight I met 2 master musicians named Key and Omadda. I had just had two men fight for my attention which I must say was flattering but these two musicians formed thier own group and started playing the Western song. I wound up joining them and we got to talking and joking. It was fun because it was a long time since I truely got to socialize with other entertainers. We also came up with a way to make our loved professions fun, form a band and travel giving live performances every day. Doesn't even have to be in a cantina. But it was fun for the three of us, and I hope that we'll form again on the days to come and maybe find more people like us to hang in the main room of the cantina.

Damn, seems I left too early - not as if I had much choice though, what with being 9 hours ahead of PST

I was in Theed Cantina earlier that evening (my evening, that is -between around 10 and 11amPST) and Havyk was already there, together with a few other peeps. And at the time the place was already packed, with plenty of live entertainers. I ended up staying for almost an hour, even though I'd only come in to log out

For some reason, the Stormies never visit Theed. I'm not really sure why. But I still prefer Bestine. Too many people in Theed for my tastes.

They do on our server. Is Theed controlled by Imperials or Rebels on your server? If Imperials, they should be making rounds. If Rebels, then peace and quiet will greet you in Theed.

I'm pretty sure that Theed has been Imperial since the GCW changes went in. I don't go there often (like I said, I am usually at Bestine), but the times I have gone, I have never seen a Stormtrooper in the cantina.

Which of course reminds me to make a char on Kettemoor finally. Dathora has already told me of her plans when I met her on Bria some weeks ago...

Although 8pm EST on a weekday won't really be possible for me, seeing as how that's midnight my time, and about 6.5 hours before I have to get up for work. I just hope yourend-of-april thingieis either on a saturday, or not in the evening EST

I started a new little entertainer on Starsider and just had some fun hanging out in Mos Eisley. I didn't have to worry about buffing ornumbers oranything, just helped toheal some wounds and some battle fatigue and generallyhung out.

With every little tip I ran excitedly to the bazaar toimproved my costume a bit

There were no buff bots, and everyone around me was roleplaying and socializing. It was such a relaxing, entertaining evening.

To me, that is the epitomy of this profession.

It's true. Kettemoor has a Cantina night every single night of the week. It may not always be in a Cantina per se, but it's in some player owned structure or another. And, while I don't get to go very often these days because of real life, it's pretty fun. And, there's almost always a decent crowd. So, I definitely recommend it. I'd say Kettemoor is in the top 3 servers for real live fun entertainment.

On the other hand, and this is not meant as any slight whatsoever to those who put on these Cantina nights, but what I'd like to see more of on our server is public entertainment...whether it's in the public Cantinas or starports. I think we really need to start bringing some of our entertainment to the public. Most people these days only go into Cantinas for heals or buffs. And, many who may want to see live entertainment may not even know about all of our Cantina nights. Obviously, the vast majority of the entertainer community knows, as well as the RP community. But, I think sometimes we are kind of trapped in our own little bubble, and just because we know all these things, does not mean 95% of the rest of the server does.

I'd like us to start bringing that to them more often. If not at night, since most nights are booked with player events, then maybe a Saturday or Sunday afternoon would be more appropriate. On the few chances I've done starport events, whether on Kettemoor or Bria, so many people stop and watch, people I've never met before and they're wowed and amazed. They stick around and chat.

And, you know what else? On Kettemoor, the Coronet Cantina is DEAD. I won't go into the whole buffbot wars that caused this. But, this is a MAJOR Cantina, and hardly any entertainers ever go there anymore. It's very odd because on every other server it's packed. But, because of past events, there is nobody there on Kettemoor. In the past month or so I have literally gone into the Coronet Cantina and been the ONLY ONE there, during PRIME TIME. I'm not kidding you. And, people come in and they're so thankful there's someone there to heal or buff. People that don't know yet that they can go to the hotel where the bots are.

Let's do something in Coronet, Kettemoor. A big band, play the new songs (when they come out), lots of sync dancing. Let's put some life back in there. It's right there, empty, just waiting for us...

It'd be a shame to not take advantage of this.
