Just a per peeve of mine and wondered if I was the only one?

Customers displaying their huge pets on the Dance floor!

I dance for my living in Keren. Its how I make my income and pay my bills. It involves dancing for the customers, talking to them, entertaining them. Thats REAL hard to carry out when someone dumps their new giant spider in the middle of the dance floor and parades it around for eveyone. Or a giant turtle or Bantha or whatever.

I don't mind people showing off their pets as long as they're small or they keep them to the sides or front but more often than not its some 20 foot monstrosities dumped right on top of the dancers and musicians so that they effectively disappear.

If WE went out and interfered with their hunts or crowded their vendor spot with people so that THIER customers couldn't buy their products they'd Flip out and have a hissy fit. But if I ask Politely that they take their pets outside then I'M being a Bitch and spoiling their fun.

I've gotten to where I've lost patience with some of these folks. They're like little Attention Whores who can only get attention on themselves if they disrupt what everyone else is doing in some spectacular fashion. So people can't HELP but notice them. They get so bad sometimes that I just quit dancing and go shopping or work on my house until they get bored and go away.

Am I the ONLY one that thinks its a problem?

I couldn't agree more. The fact of the matter is is that people have egos. And they fuel those egos. It really isn't cool, though, considering big animals in small (and already full cantinas) gives big lag. I always try to let the Creature Handlers know that it's disrupting the environment but not everyone is nice enough to comply.

This is a 'pet' (ha ha) peeve of mine as well. Most people are nice enough to park their precious landspeeder-sized babies back near the bar and not on the dance floor, but I still see the occasional person who drops their pet basically right onto me or right in front of me like I'm not even there. People coming to watch the band will do this also, even without pets.

All we can really do in public places is to take the 'education' tack -- just explain that it's disruptive to the performance and hope they'll be nice about it. I think a number of them are just genuinely oblivious. I haven't had the displeasure of seeing anyone who does this kind of thing on purpose but I imagine those folks will get kicked from the private performance venues with a quickness.

Good! Glad its not just me. Laugh!

I'm old enough that I don't suffer fools willingly or gladly and I have NO hesitation anymore about letting them know EXACTLY what I think of what they're doing. I'm can be EXTREMELY mean, sarcastic and scathing when my dander is up. I don't pull any punches after I've tried being Subtle, then Polite, then Direct. Hey. I'm a redhead. It comes naturally.

I think you are cursed FlawedDiamond ...or it's Eclipse server

By my side, on Bria, I've never experienced such behaviour from the cantinas customers, the worst I've seen was some duels ( rare ) which ended pretty fast and the biggest pet a probe droid kind. I've visited Keren, Theed, Kaadaran, Meona,Bestine and Mos Entha cantinas and had not yet met a rude people or a mannerless customer even in the borders planets such as Tatooine.

I am not a fan of people who drag huge pets onto the dance floor. I suppose that Cantinas are a gathering place that offers good selling chances. But really, can'tfolks at least go to the sides of the bar or stay in the entry way? I must say, however, that I will take enormous knuckle-dragging creatures any day before people who strut around the bar asking patron (usually dancers as well) for a duel. Often these sort like to add extra aggravation with some form of annoying signature move like crawling in their underwear, spamming taunts or emoting vomits. Just because one is roleplaying asociopath does not mean that the person at the keyboard has to be one too.

You COULD be right..on the Latter. I've noticed the last few days that a lot of people on Eclipse are sort of...giving up. Much less RPing going on and a lot of people taking things a LOT less seriously. Almost like there's an unconcious acceptance that Eclipse is not going to recover from the last week or so of increasing crashes and intentional downings. More downings of the server and for longer each time. 11 hours yesterday and looks like around 16 today. Thats 16 hours WITHOUT taking into consideration that we'll prolly go down sometime in the evening like normal.

Its almost like a... I don't know. A Wake maybe? Like no one REALLY believes that there is a future on the server and is just sort of going through the motions. I know its hard for me to work up much enthusiasm to really work at my dancing skill. Sort of like..whats the point since I'm gonna have to start over again somewhere else? So I spend my times chatting with my friends while I still can.

Its beginning to look like moving to another server is the only long term option if we're gonna continue playing SWG. Trying to play on a server thats only up half the time at odd intervals is not really an option unless they're willing to coordinate their down times with MY schedule which I DOUBT I can arrange. (sad) Laugh!!

Maybe thats why the rude bahavior is increasing so much recently. No one really cares that much any more or in worrying about anyone else. Sad to see it deteriorate so much from what it was just a couple weeks ago.

Ick...from what you wrote I'm glad to play on Bria.

Flawed, your friends and youshould settle on Bria. Of course I can only speak about my time zone which is Europe at GMT+1 but the server seems to work "properly" next to Eclipse, we experience some lag but I guess it occures on all servers. Have a look on Bria, send me a tell if you need something.

There's only one thing I dislike even more than pets who won't even fit into the building, and watching their feet move as someone says "Play Baby!" while I'm trying to perform for other customers...

TIN CANS. <g>

I also make my home in Keren, and because of its imperial leanings, the will often be overt Imperials who bring their 'pet' along. They're always grumpy, they never clap along.. hehe.

Seriously - I have had 'discussions' with customers who brought in pets of the tin can variety, and began 'patroling' them across the middle of our performance area. In the slowest of times, this is annoying. In busier times, with *either* a large entertainer group *or* a large audience, they are a hindrance to the show, and cause dancers to have to reposition themselves, and the band to move over even further.

This is less of a problem now that the novelty has worn off and the original faction point exploit has been fixed. For that matter, pets of the large and rather stinky variety are seen a little less often as well - and I think they'll be seen even less often when CH cannot buy them from masters and pets are nerfed, but we shall see =)

I haven't seen this from customers on Lowca (course you can't see anything on Lowca as it's down all the damned time), but we actually had a dancer do this a couple of weeks ago. She joins up with our group and whips out this gigantic thing that didn't even fit in the cantina. It threw us all into super lag and it took us asking about 4 times (with increasing rudness and directness) before she put the thing awayand left in a huff. I saw her later near the mission terminals making her pet dance for people. I think pets and droids should be banned from cantinas. I mean in Star Wars weren't C3PO and R2D2 banned from the cantina on Tatooine?

I try it mostly with fun. I stop dancing for fear about that Giant Spider over me and such things. Cause I am often the only dancer in Anchorhead, it helps sometimes.

But it became a realnuisance all the pet stuff the past time. It is realy no more fun, if a giant Spider suddenly is sitting on me. And if one starts to show his Pet 3 other begin to surpass the first monstrosity with a bigger and scarier one.

I hope after the pets are nerft, all the I-have-the biggest-one's are searching then an other profession.

The only suggestion I can bring is to make some very blunt comments about How the pet owner must be compensating for something...

But they probably won't get it, or will just start up with crude jokes.

Someone pulling out those pets in the cantina always makes me wonder if they'd go into a convenience store and whip out their...parts lol

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who gets annoyed by the huge pets popping up on the performers, with their owners usually spamming commands. Too bad they don't make placards one can wear for those people-a bit 'PAY ATTENTION TO ME' sign would probably cause a lot less lag.
