Well, I had to wing some of the questions since I don't really know what a MUD game is and this is the first online game I've ever been involved in . . . A few of the questions didn't fit my character (or even my creator's character) at all - like whether I'd rather kill a monster or brag about it. I would rather not even go near it! LOL
My results were:
Socializer - 80%
Explorer - 73%
Achiever - 40%
Killer - 6%
I like the explorer aspect . . . you know all those locked doors throughout the galaxy? They drive me crazy! I just know there's somethig neat and interesting on the other side and I want to find it!! (C - the locked doors at Disney World have the same affect! LOL!)

Socializer 73%
Killer 60%
Explorer 40%
Achiever 26%
I think this is very accurate and emphasizes the way I play this game perfectly. Entertainer/Socializer mostly with a strong 2nd showing in going out and killing things (and other people), and achiever comes in dead last as evidenced by my lack of any desire whatsoever to hologrind or have the best stuff because it's just too damn much trouble.

Wow!
I must say that I am a little surprised at some of these answers. . . it just goes to show you cant judge an Ent by their cover.

One problem I've always had with the Bartle test is it is not based on statistical/emperical evidence on player types but more a brainstorming Bartle had. However, no one has come up with anything more complete. Another is that the player types are very loosely defined. For example, let's take the killer. Bartle's "killer" oriented questions are focused on pvp gameplay, however,"killers" in games are not necessarilyinterested in pvp. The killer is more one that wishes to control other's gameplay, imo.
Bartle's examples thatthe achiever and killer types are more "acting on the world", whereas the socializer and explorer are "acting in the world" works well. He's written that he based his 4 categories of players on the 4 suites in a deck of cards and that he doesn't really see it as a complete work either.
While I've seen Bartle's examples taken a little too seriously in some contexts, most keep in mind that it is simply food for thought. It's a really cool toy toplay with and it's been kind of fun to watch myperceptions of my own gameplay change over the years by looking at my Bartletest results.I keep hoping he'll come out with something more indepth, but he probably doesn't have that much free time either
