I dropped dancer to pick up more combat to aid me in myquest to open my extra character slot. I have become so bored with the mindless grind, that I'm thinking of picking up my dancing shoes once more. I have maxed healing and dance xp. I never really understood retraining and xp loss when you hit certain levels. Anyone know if there's a way to maximize the xp I have banked? If I know how far I can go, Ifigure I'll just put the rest into fsxp.

The key here is DO NOT DANCE until you have spent your xp! If you dance, you will lose your banked dance down to your (lowered) cap. I'm not sure, however, that your xp may not be nerfed once you train a level. I have had that happen to me, - I have a ton of banked xp, I start to retrain (but not dance again) and bam- I've lost xp.
I'll let others weigh in on the re-training issue, but to be safest, you might want to just trade in all that dance xp, and start over with dance. Then at least you're guaranteed to get something out of it.

Oh I learned that lesson once. I dropped some of dancer to master ID. Then I had to see how fun it would be to dance as a fat Twi'lek. I lost 500k xp for that, but it was worth the laugh!

I've retrained Musician with capped xp. It leaves you a bit short of master. Can't recall how much for skill, was 100k short on heal xp. I just stood at the trainer and clicked the little dialog buttons until there were no more to click. I wish I had done the same when I retrained Dancer..but noooo..I just had to stop and dance!

my dancer is capped, wiht 900k dance, and 500k ent healing xp, so you should get most skills back anyway if you capped also.

How did you train it though? Did you go up one line at a time or alternate between lines? I've lost xp before through training, so I'm kinda nervous about retraining.

As soon as you train a skill the banked xp gets chopped down to the max for the next skill :/

And that was at a NPC trainer. The first time I went up Musician, I used maxed heal xp from dancing to fill in 7 of the 8 heal boxes all at once while being trained by a player. I've also retrained a whole lot of TK boxes (can't recall how many)using banked xp before, so I really can't say that my experience is consistent with the above poster's. Now in all of these cases, my banked xp was maxed..don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Whenever i re-trained my exp was allways chopped back down also. However.... I had allways relearned novice entertainer aswell as the rest, did you keep novice entertainer esharra?
The one time i didnt was when i droped musician to re-learn dancer and i dont remember it chopping my dance exp back down that time

When I dropped dancer/musician the first time I dropped Everything at once (11/03..bots & hologrinders..what more can I say) and my banked xp was maxed in all skills. When I retrained Entertainer (3/04) I had xp to train a few boxes past novice dancer but didn't have the skill points for all of them and wasn't ready to drop TKM or my scout & medic skills so I lost some dance xp when I started dancing. But I didn't lose it Until I started dancing..I remember that sinking feeling well.
I did not play music at all until afterI had maxed out my heal xp dancing again. I trained up as much of music as I could. I can't recall how many skill boxes I trained at once (all of knowledge & 1 of tech, I believe, this includes the boxes in Entertainer). I'm positive that I was able to train 7 boxes of musician heal from my maxed xp and only needing 100k to fill the last as we discussed it at the time.
After dropping TKM to novice, I didn't participate in any combat for several weeks. I lost a ton of banked unarmed xp while goofing after NPCs with a friend while holding a mando (kaboing!). Now when I droppeda few boxes of fencerto train master dancer on Bria a few weeks ago, I lost xp when I dropped the boxes..but my banked xp was not maxed.In my experience, I have not lost banked xp unless I use the skill or if I untrain boxes when the banked xp is not maxed.

I had alot of Rifleman xp saved up about a month ago(maxed at a certain level, since I'd used the rifle a few times while dropping skills). As soon as I picked up Novice Marksman and Rifles I, my stored rifle experience dropped immediately to the cap at Rifles I. I did not engage in combat after training Rifles I, nor was my gun even equipped. All of that xp disappeared as soon as I trained the first box. (The same happened to combat xp when I trained Rifle Abilities I).

When I said "maxed banked xp" I was referring to the maximum you can have at master. In my examples, that is 900k Musician, 500k Healing & 900k Unarmed. I believe maxed banked xp is treated differently than a below master level capped xp when retraining.
