Hello all,
It's great to be back dancing again - I knew I missed being a Dancer after giving it up, but I never realised how much! Its great to get back in the cantinas and spend time just hanging out with people again
A little apology to those of you on Eclipse though - while I get my Master again I will be doing a lot of my dancing AFK - normally I would not do this. Anyone that has danced or spent any time with me before knows I like to talk a lot
and afk dancing is not my thing. But I have to Master it somehow, and since I don't get a great deal of time to play due to work (bah!), it'll be afk for a while.
Promise though that if you gmail me to tell me off, I will get back to you with an /apologize hehe !

Is it the mastering thats important to you? or the social aspect?
You know sometimes just having that master tittle makes no difference

Wise words and oh so true.
Just look at the Cantina Crawls - even basic is a hoot in a group.
Group up with some like minded dancers and have a hoot. Examples of that include spending 3 hours dancing OUTSIDE theed cantina with a bunch of other dancers and musicians and twice yesterday setting up a small musician group ( can be done with dancers too of course ) in theed cantina and setting up a show. Get it right and you can end up with compliments, tips, and probably the bulk of the EH XP. The show doesn't have to be particularly pre-arranged either, just bandflo's and a bot or two with maybe some holoemotes and flashy effects will capture peoples attention - guaranteed.

thankyou for the replies
being a Master Dancer is important to me because at present we don't have one in our Guild, and its a job I used to do and enjoy - buffs and the like. But I take your comments about the journey and rest assured during my couple of hours playing time on an evening I am sitting merrily dancing and chatting away!

I've been on Bria every day for months now and am still not a Master Dancer. Why? Don't know, I'm not doing it for the title.
As a good friend of mine likes to tell me, I may not have the title, but I'm already a Master

Im not doing it just for the title either ... but have to get that XP somehow!
just so you know I spent 3 hours dancing in Theed last night and (as with most nights) had a great time with the groupI was in.
sorry for causing any offence by suggesting I wanted to be a master dancer sooner rather than later, to whoever 1-starred the post I guess a little apology was not necessary and I should have just gone ahead and done it anyway - just rolled with the hits I'd take from people that hate AFKers I guess
/sigh

Threw a few five-stars your way, to make up for whoever's being petty.
The truth is, I am solidly anti-AFK, especially when it comes to buffing. I will be very glad when they remove it, because it's severely hurting our profession. That being said, I've mastered dancer four times, and three of those four times I was an AFKer. The one time I didn't was when I was just starting the game and didn't know how to use macros. I could make excuses about this, talk about how small my server is and how if I tried to master ATK it would take me forever.... but the basic reason for grinding AFK is that after the first time, I understood the profession. I knew how it worked, I knew that once master I would never be anything but a live entertainer, and if I could be getting experience while I was doing RL stuff as well as playing the game, I might as well.
Like I said, I'm very anti-AFK, but I don't think AFK grinders hurt the profession NEARLY as much as AFK buffers. I will tell you though, if you have plans to make your dancer into a buffbot, you won't find much support here, from me or anyone else.

thanks, that's refreshing
rest assured that I have absolutely NO plans to make some sort of buffbot out of myself - I only have the one character and he's too busy enjoying himself to waste time buffing afk ! the AFK stuff at the moment is purely to earn some XP to level up a little - much of the xp so far has also been obtained while at the keyboard (although I haven't been out hunting things in abouta week - solid cantina time! my wallet is hurting a little bit hehe)

Hmmmm....I was debating on whether to comment on this thread, and my stinky side won out.
I guess I am just wondering why on earth would you come here and make this post anyway?
To garner support for you afk'ing your way through something that most that are vocal here don't? To not feel like you are being detrimental to the entertainer class by reinforcing the idea that its boring, long and tedious? That you have other interesting things to do and don't want to really spend the time to get dancer?
I mean really, what was the reason you posted this?
Oh, and I one starred him Fuschia (I only did his first post though, not the others). I don't think I was being petty by doing so...I just don't agree with coming to a place where so many people are struggling with this afk monster and basically wanting absolution from the entertainer community for doing so.
I didn't afk at all when I did any of dancer or musician either of the times I did it. I don't feel any malice for the people who do it (especially when they are my friends...to each their own I say).
Why did I do all my stints as an entertainer atk's even though I "knew" the profession and had a million and one things in RL and in game that I could do? Because I see how it effects everyone and that bothers me alot *small smile*....thats just me though. I see it as reinforcing all the negative in others minds about the entertainer community, thus giving them fuel for why they should be zombie's and bots.
I just hope whomever is their group leader boots them, just like I used to boot everyone that was afk all day long. I figure why should you get what I get when you aren't doing the work for it?
But again, justthis tiny lady's opinion.

5 stars for fuscia to help counter the 1-star bandit
And while i dont 'hate' afk entertainers, i am very stoutly anti-afk, and sooner they are fixed the better, i dont do it myself because i stand by the principles i have, im mastering musician again, after 3 times mastering it previously and 7 times master dancer. And its really just not that hard to doit live depending on how many hoursyou have a day to play
Ive friends who are like fuschia tho who master it once non-afk and then if they need to do it again, do it afk, as they feel justified because they ahve done it once already. I can understand that to an extent, i jsut cant really do it myself
