AFK macroing is on the way out.
TH post here
In short in his post:
AFK - unattended macroing
This will be going away soon. There will be some issues around losing the ability to do things with recursive macros or while AFK which will need to be addressed as part of this effort, but overall it is better for the game environment to not have this as a sanctioned behavior.

They also plan to have the Combat Upgrade closed beta released "soon," but there's still no word on when that is
I'm taking his post with a grain of salt at the moment. I'm ecstatic that the change is still scheduled for completion, but I won't beplacing any bets yet.

Here's to hoping the macro change happens sooner than later.

Sounds like 2005 will be an interesting year for SWG. It will be interesting to see how they solve the "unattended" problem. They've been fairly tight about their plan...initially saying recursive macros were going away and then saying they would stay but a timer would be implemented... I know it will be problematic for many to make the adjustment for their various macros - I see a LOT of people with a constant Center of Being macro - but hopefully it will make everyone's play better in the long run.
Thanks for posting the update.
Cheers,

Small update for you taken from a recent dev post...
"Combat Upgrade has been in progress for months and will go into alpha testing this month."

I haven't looked around anywhere else yet,but the little snip from above sounds like the voice of Tyrant to me. If he's put the word out that this will be happening now as a priority item, it will. I've been nervous about this plan from the get go, but glad to see it looks like the wait will be coming to an end. Hope it works out well for us.

The quote actually IS Tyrant's and not TH's. Which, to me, gives it a lot more weight. Tyrant is quite devoted to this idea of eliminating AFK "play."

I think the key in that quote is sanctioned behavior. This is the first time they have ever implied, threatened or even gave a hint that they might change the ToS to forbid ANY AFK macro... They have said a few times that they weren't keen on people running AFK and that they might take away the ability to have a recursive macro.... This would be a monumental step towards legitimizing doctor and entertainer as more than a buff bot again
*crosses fingers hopefully*
